Valorant Mobile has quickly become one of the biggest gaming stories of the year, and not just in China. Following an explosive debut and record-breaking player numbers, excitement is building around when Riot Games and Tencent will finally roll out the global version. With new claims that the worldwide servers are already complete, fans may not have to wait much longer.

Here is everything you need to know about Valorant Mobile’s success so far, the esports plans evolving around it, and what the latest reports suggest about a global launch.

China’s Biggest Mobile Game Launch of 2025

Tencent has confirmed that Valorant Mobile stands as China’s most successful mobile release of the year by first month DAU and gross receipts. The game launched on 19 August and immediately made a splash, pulling in around $1 million and 170,000 downloads within its first 24 hours.

Since then, growth has skyrocketed. According to Tencent’s Q3 earnings presentation, the Valorant franchise more than doubled its monthly players from July to October, surpassing 50 million MAU. PC numbers surged as well, with DAU and gross receipts hitting record highs in September thanks to new esports-themed weapon bundles.

This momentum also helped Tencent record a 15 percent year-over-year revenue increase, underlining how central Valorant Mobile has already become to the company’s wider portfolio.

A New Mobile Esports Ecosystem Is Taking Shape

Valorant Mobile’s Chinese launch has not only been successful as a game release, but also as the foundation of a brand new esports scene.

The first LAN tournament has already taken place, and China’s national circuit is set to wrap up in December 2025. The scale and structure of these events suggest a vision to mirror the popularity and professionalism of Valorant’s PC ecosystem, especially in regions where mobile gaming thrives.

Riot and Tencent have even committed 1.5 billion RMB, roughly $200 Million, to developing the game’s esports infrastructure. With this level of investment, a global competitive circuit is almost guaranteed to follow once the international release lands.

So When Is Valorant Mobile Releasing Globally?

Despite massive demand, Riot Games and Tencent have not confirmed an official global release date. The game remains exclusive to China, although some players outside the country have managed to test it using VPNs.

However, rumours are heating up. A Chinese pro player recently claimed that the global servers are already built and ready to go. According to them, Riot and Tencent are simply waiting for the results of China’s National Finals. If the event concludes as strongly as expected, the worldwide rollout could begin sooner rather than later.

#ValorantMobile
A Chinese pro player claims that the Global server is already fully ready for launch. Riot and Tencent are allegedly just waiting for the results of the National Finals in China. If it’s a success there, Global might be released sooner than we think. pic.twitter.com/ShW4clbE1d

— Суслик (@Sussiiik) December 1, 2025

The Finals wrap in December 2025, and based on ongoing speculation, an announcement may arrive before the end of the year. Many industry watchers now believe an early 2026 release is the most likely scenario.

Global Hype Continues To Grow

Valorant Mobile’s explosive popularity in China, combined with massive corporate investment and a rapidly forming esports scene, signals big things ahead. With more than 50 million players already in the ecosystem, demand for a worldwide launch is only increasing.

While we await official confirmation, one thing feels certain. When Valorant Mobile finally goes global, it is poised to become one of the biggest mobile esports titles on the planet.

Record-Breaking Prize Pool

ACE PRIME CORE didn’t just walk away with a trophy and bragging rights, they also secured 300,000 Chinese Yuan (roughly US$40,000) in winnings. That’s actually more than some Ascension-level tournaments in PC VALORANT this year, showcasing just how serious Riot and China’s mobile gaming community are about making VALORANT Mobile a competitive powerhouse.

According to Liquipedia editor Hesketh, this victory also earns ACE PRIME CORE and runners-up EDward Gaming direct qualification for the upcoming National Finals, scheduled for December at the Aranya Grand Masters, a popular international skateboarding event venue.

The Road to the National Finals

The Platform Finals are one of four qualification pathways leading to the year-end National Finals, which boast a combined prize pool of around US$418,000. The other three routes include:

A national-level open qualifier

A collegiate tournament

A corporate league

This multi-tiered structure, supported by China’s biggest streaming platforms, Douyu, Huya, Kuaishou, Douyin, and Bilibili, has helped build buzz for the title while giving players multiple entry points into the competitive ecosystem.

Riot’s Big Bet on Mobile Esports

Earlier this year, Riot Games announced plans to invest over 1.5 billion RMB (around US$200 million) over the next three years to grow VALORANT Mobile’s esports scene in China. That includes more tournaments, talent development, and likely international expansion once the global version of the game launches.

Interestingly, some of the players competing in the Platform Finals were former Call of Duty Mobile pros, signalling a crossover of established mobile esports talent eager to jump into Riot’s ecosystem.

What’s Next for VALORANT Mobile?

While Riot has yet to confirm an official global release date for VALORANT Mobile, the momentum from China’s debut event suggests esports will be a key part of the rollout from day one.

The packed audience, energetic crowd reactions, and major prize money all point to one thing: VALORANT Mobile isn’t just testing the waters, it’s diving headfirst into the mobile esports scene.

If this first LAN is anything to go by, expect the National Finals later this year to be even bigger, with global attention firmly on Riot’s newest competitive title.

According to Bloomberg and Appfigures, the free-to-play shooter, co-developed by Riot Games and Tencent’s Lightspeed Studios, quickly climbed to the number one spot on China’s iOS download charts, while also securing a place among the top ten highest-grossing mobile titles. That’s a record-breaking debut for a game many fans have been waiting years to see.

A Long-Awaited Launch

The hype has been building for months. Over 70 million players pre-registered during the beta period, and Riot made sure the release felt stacked. At launch, VALORANT Mobile comes loaded with:

18 playable agents straight from the PC version

Seven maps familiar to longtime VALORANT players

Eight different game modes

And even mobile-exclusive cosmetic collections, including the Overdrive and Awakening Lion skins

That sort of content-heavy start is exactly what Riot needed to prove the mobile edition isn’t just a cut-down port, but a fully-fledged adaptation.

Only in China… For Now

Right now, the game is only available in China, and Riot has yet to reveal when the rest of the world will get access. But there are already hints. With VALORANT Champions taking place in Paris from 12 September to 5 October, many are speculating that Riot could use the global stage to finally announce an international rollout.

Fuel was added to the fire after players spotted a Champions-themed avatar inside the mobile game’s files. The cosmetic looks like it could be tied to tournament drops, which would line up perfectly with Riot’s usual strategy of tying in-game rewards to its biggest esports event of the year.

The Bigger Picture

While VALORANT Mobile’s debut numbers are huge, it still has competition in the Chinese market. Tencent’s Dungeon & Fighter (DnF) Mobile pulled in five times the revenue when it launched earlier this year. Still, breaking into the top six highest-earning iOS games on day one is no small feat, and Riot has clearly tapped into a massive demand for tactical shooters on mobile.

For now, all eyes are on Paris. If Riot does announce a global launch at Champions, expect VALORANT Mobile to make waves well beyond China, and possibly shake up the entire mobile FPS scene.

Riot Games is finally rolling out VALORANT Mobile, but for now, it’s only landing in China. The tactical 5v5 shooter goes live on 19 August, complete with exclusive rewards for players who pre-registered.

To mark the launch, Riot teamed up with Canadian rapper bbno$, best known for hits like Lalala and Edamame. His new track, Bring It All // In My Zone, soundtracks the official trailer, showing off agents in action and giving fans a taste of what to expect when the game drops.

What’s in VALORANT Mobile?

The mobile version sticks closely to the PC experience, but Riot has added some new twists just for handheld players. Two mobile-exclusive maps, Shipyard and Ancient Village, will be available from the start. Players can also look forward to 18 playable agents, 9 maps in total, and 10 different modes at launch.

One of the biggest additions is the long-requested replay system, something fans on PC have been asking for since day one. Riot has confirmed it’ll arrive on desktop later this year, but mobile players get it straight away. There’s also a gifting system baked in, plus unique mobile skins to round things out.

bbno$ Brings the Vibes

This isn’t bbno$’s first time working with Riot. He previously featured on the VALORANT Champions 2023 anthem Ticking Away with Grabbitz.

Earlier this year, he also dropped 1-800 with V-Tuber Ironmouse, proving once again that his music often crosses into gaming and streaming culture.

Big Investment in China’s Esports Scene

Tencent is clearly backing this launch in a big way, committing around 1.5 billion RMB (roughly $200m NZD) to esports events across the country. Given China’s massive mobile gaming market, VALORANT Mobile could quickly cement itself as one of the biggest competitive titles in the region.

What About a Global Launch?

That’s the big question. Riot has been quiet on when VALORANT Mobile might release worldwide. Rumours point to an announcement during VALORANT Champions Paris 2025, possibly tied to the event’s anthem “Last Shot”. Still, nothing’s official, and Riot’s publishing team has already poured cold water on earlier leaks.

For now, it’s all about China, and with over 70 million pre-registrations already locked in, Riot’s gamble on the region looks set to pay off.

As for the rest of us? We’ll just have to wait and see if VALORANT Mobile makes the leap onto global app stores later this year.

Riot Games is officially going all-in on VALORANT Mobile, and we finally have the numbers to prove it.

Over the weekend at ChinaJoy 2025 in Shanghai, Riot and its parent company Tencent revealed some massive updates around VALORANT Mobile, including an official release date of August 19th for China, and confirming a whopping 1.5 billion CNY ¥ investment (~$200 million) to fuel the development, rollout, and long-term success of VALORANT Mobile in China. That’s not just hype, that’s serious cash on the table, and a clear sign that Riot’s aiming to dominate the mobile FPS scene But the real headline?

Big Launch Plans, Big Content

The launch version of VALORANT Mobile in China won’t be a watered-down side project. Players are getting a fully stacked game right out of the gate, with:

18 Agents from the PC version (with more to come)

7 Core Maps, plus 2 exclusive TDM maps just for mobile

10 Game Modes, including Competitive, Deathmatch, and Spike Rush

Built-in replay system, real-time anti-cheat, and profile highlight sharing

They’re even squeezing in 120 FPS support and a new popularity system to track in-game clout. It’s clear Riot wants this to feel just as competitive and polished as the PC experience.

Confirms 3-year long term investment building structure for VALM…

1.5 BILLION CNY ($200 Mil) INVESTMENT FOR VALM ACROSS THREE YEARS??????

Game launches with 18 Agents, 7 Maps (2 Mobile exclusive TDM) and 10 Game Modes pic.twitter.com/AfPRqFPybH

— hesketh2 (@subzidite2) August 3, 2025

Riot’s clearly not holding back, and they’re treating this mobile spin-off with the same ambition as the main game.

And let’s be real, mobile shooters are massive in Asia, so this isn’t just a “China-only” moment. It’s a trial run for what could easily go global.

$200M for Tournaments, Esports, and Growth

The huge investment from Riot and Tencent will roll out over the next three years, aimed at turning VALORANT Mobile into a long-term powerhouse in the mobile esports space. We’re talking:

National and collegiate tournaments open to everyone

Regular co-branded events in China

Full infrastructure to support players across all skill levels

Plans to maintain competitive integrity with tech like hardware fingerprint detection and macro/mouse-keyboard blocking

This is the part i’m most shocking at

Tencent/Riot China is willing to push “$200,000,000” investment into VALORANT Mobile, the conference describe it as a 3-year plan

IDK if 1.5B number is in Yuan, if it is that’s insane amount and shows that Tencent/Riot CN is really all-in pic.twitter.com/uNCkQe0Bmv

— hesketh2 (@subzidite2) August 3, 2025

TJ Sports CEO Bobby Jin Yibo called it a “player-centred, creativity-driven, esports-powered ecosystem.” Bold words, but with this level of funding, they might just pull it off.

60 Million Players Already Lined Up

If you’re wondering whether anyone’s actually interested in a mobile VALORANT, well, the numbers speak for themselves. Riot confirmed over 60 million pre-registrations in China alone. That’s not just a player base, that’s a tidal wave.

VALORANT MOBILE BREAKS “”60 MILLION”” PRE-REGISTERS

Announced right during the China Launch Event at ChinaJoy, the numbers are absolutely unprecedented.

This is doubled tripled of what Wild Rift gets even in China pic.twitter.com/wQe6GGm2oU

— hesketh2 (@subzidite2) August 3, 2025

It’s also why Riot’s focusing so heavily on China first, even with fans worldwide chomping at the bit. VALORANT Studio boss Anna Donlon said it best: “It’s not just about the size of the market, it’s about the passion of the players here.”

Global Launch? Still TBD

As for the rest of us? Unfortunately, there’s still no word on a global release date for VALORANT Mobile. Riot seems fully committed to getting China right before expanding. But hey, if this all goes well, there’s a good chance the rest of the world won’t be waiting too long.
