Tournament Format Explained

The BLAST R6 Munich Major introduces a slightly fresh take on the traditional structure. The event starts with a Swiss Stage, featuring all 16 teams in a single group instead of separate pools.

Each match during this phase will be best-of-one (BO1), except for elimination games. Teams will compete across five rounds, and only the top eight will advance to the Playoffs.

For the first time in Rainbow Six Major history, the Playoffs will use a double-elimination bracket, a format that promises more comebacks, surprises, and high-stakes rematches.

Here’s how progression is expected to work:

• Teams finishing 3–0 in the Swiss Stage enter the Upper Bracket Semifinals
• Teams finishing 3–1 move into the Upper Bracket Quarterfinals
• Teams finishing 3–2 start from the Lower Bracket Round 1

It’s a test of consistency and adaptability, where even the top seeds could find themselves one step away from elimination.

Dates, Venue, and Audience Access

The Swiss Stage will take place from 8–11 November, followed by the Playoffs from 12–16 November, with a scheduled break on 13 November.

While most of the tournament will be played behind closed doors, the final three days, from 14–16 November,  will open to the public at Munich’s BMW Park Arena.
