Following the release of their debut album, SMALL TALK, Soda Blonde are back with special stripped-back EP, I Still Have Feelings for You, out on November 26th, 2021 via Velveteen Records.

The EP features 4 beautiful, never-before-heard versions of 4 tracks from the album.

The debut album from Soda Blonde may be called Small Talk, but if there’s one thing the Dubliners do not do, it’s mince words. Out earlier this year via Velveteen Records, the entirely self-produced album saw the group reflecting on their twenty-something experiences with refreshingly honest transparency.

“To put it simply, Small Talk is about life in our 20’s,” says Faye O’Rourke, Soda Blonde’s enigmatic front woman. “Every part of us is in here, both subliminally and literally. Lyrically, this record is like a collection of my flaws and insecurities. They’re lingering awkwardly by the bar at a crowded social gathering, waiting to integrate with the wider world”.

All four band members (O’Rourke, guitarist Adam O’Regan, drummer Dylan Lynch and bassist Donagh Seaver-O’Leary) are seasoned musicians, despite their youth. They have been playing together since their early teens, with their previous band – the internationally renowned Little Green Cars, whose seminal debut album skyrocketed to number one on the Irish album charts. O’Rourke is the first to admit that when Little Green Cars called it a day, she felt lost.

But a career shift for the four musicians wasn’t in the cards – and Small Talk was self-evident proof, different than anything the group had released before, but carrying on its back all the things they’ve learned.

Now, fresh from the release of the album, comes a special EP featuring new versions of album tracks: with strings versions of both ‘Tiny Darkness’ and ‘Choices’, an early demo of ‘Swimming Through the Night’ and the title track to the EP, a single version of ‘I Still Have Feelings for You’.

Between sublimely arranged strings, radio-ready melodies sit plain-spoken truths and the hard-learned lessons of a group still at the start of what is sure to be a long journey.

Undeniably a coming-of-age record, Small Talk was a dazzling portrait of someone who isn’t afraid to hold the messy parts of herself up for questioning, and the ‘I Still Have Feelings for You’ EP is a brilliant extension of this.

Soda Blonde have announced their newest single ‘Love Me World’ to be released across streaming platforms on September 24th alongside the band’s first live-streamed launch show. “Love Me World’ is a song about acknowledging the darker moments of wanting to be loved by everyone.

The idea of bending to fit the zeitgeist in the pursuit of acceptance and love.’” – Faye O’Rourke (Lead singer). In celebration of the single release, the band will perform an exclusive launch show to be streamed from a secret location in Ireland’s capital on September 23rd, 2020.

The single follows the band’s second EP ‘isolation content’ released in May this year. The EP saw support from BBC Radio One’s Huw Stephens, Janice Long of BBC Radio Wales and Ireland’s biggest stations RTÉ Radio 1, Today FM and 2FM as well as piquing the interest of The Sunday Times.

Soda Blonde emerged from the ashes of internationally acclaimed band Little Green Cars; whose debut album saw them sky rocket to number one in the Irish album charts. Fronted by singer-songstress Faye O’Rourke, Adam O’Regan (keys and guitar), Donagh Seaver O’Leary (bass) and Dylan Lynch (drums), the transformation is led by a distinctive new sound which seamlessly weaves together influences from Fleetwood Mac, Little Dragon and Kate Bush without compromising the integrity and unique charm that Little Green Cars were known for. Dublin’s Soda Blonde announce the ‘isolation – content’ EP, a four track collection, due for release on 29th May , of glorious alt-pop that follows their debut EP, Terrible Hands which was released at the end of last year.

In support of this, the group performed a series of sold out shows in their hometown, toured across Ireland and played 2 UK shows in Manchester and London, leading to them being asked to support Sinead O’Connor at her Iveagh Gardens show (now postponed to the Summer of 2021).

If the staggering vocals on the EP sound familiar, it’s because they are. Soda Blonde was formed last year by four members of the critically acclaimed Little Green Cars, whose debut album (produced by Marcus Dravs) hit the Number One spot in Ireland and saw them gain a coveted spot on the BBC Sound Of poll. Now producing the music themselves, whilst also creating all the artwork and visuals, Faye O’Rourke, Adam O’Regan, Dylan Lynch, Donagh Seaver O’Leary’s new project finds them operating as fully fledged polymaths.

Born out of a need to keep making music whilst in lockdown, the group found a process of working that enabled them to put together the ‘isolation – content’. Initially trying to work more loosely and expecting to be forced to pay less attention to detail than they would in a normal situation, they soon found the process became something different entirely, as Faye elaborates; “The alchemy of this project is simple: after the initial sample is taken from me, it’s then sent off to the lab where Adam can dissect and analyse what the fuck is going on. He makes a few suggestions about structure and then lays down the foundational ‘vibe’ for the track.

It’s then sent off to the rhythm section for further critical analysis and expansion before making its way back to me to hear the first draft of the song. Not long into early stages of the project the brief abruptly changed. It shifted from the previous pursuit of sanity and time consumption into something immensely more important. Our usual work ethic of meticulousness and devotion to every detail was reinstated. “

Now with two immaculate EPs under their belt, a new sound and newfound approach to their craft, plus their debut album almost finished, Soda Blonde are firmly marking themselves out as one to watch.
