When the news broke in-house the award-winning ‘Bernie’ was joining the Sky Sport crew on a full-time basis, there were smiles all around.

Long regarded one of New Zealand’s top sports presenters, there isn’t a soul in sport; athletes or peers, who doesn’t know of the expertise, warmth and understanding Bernadine Oliver-Kerby brings to the screen.

“I’ve been working with Sky Sport for some time now and love where they are headed,” says Oliver-Kerby. “They always will be the home of sport in New Zealand. Sky has given incredible support to multiple codes for nearly 30 years, the consummate skill of the production crew is acknowledged widely, and they are committed to securing the best sport in the world for avid Kiwi fans. I can’t wait to spend even more time with the team.”

Oliver-Kerby’s new role will be a mix of presenting key news and events and talent development in the Sky Sport stable.

Brian Hitchcock, Sky Sport’s Head of Production says, “We are pretty excited about Bernadine joining us full-time. We already have an amazing stable of respected presenters, but we have big new objectives for Sky Sport. As well as joining our existing crew, Bernadine will help us unlock new talent to help us fulfil these plans.”

“Sport inspires people from all walks of life and brings communities and nations together. Getting closer to that magic has always been a driver for me. I really don’t mind what it is. As long as it’s competitive, I’m in boots and all.”

Whether it’s netball, rugby, league, sailing, cricket, skiing, tennis or darts – Oliver-Kerby is up for the excitement.

LetsPlay.Live, Australasia’s esports tournament platform & broadcaster, have announced High School League Season 2 for 2019.

Following the first successful season this year HSL hopes to see even more schools from across Australia and New Zealand participating in competitive inter-school esports tournaments.

Registrations for this season are now open for high school students across ANZ, with the opportunity for more than one team per school to compete. The first round of tournaments begins the week of Monday 5th August 2019 and will run for 10 weeks, showcasing both Dota 2 and Clash Royale. The top two teams from the initial seeds will battle it out in a best-of-three grand final event the week of 7th October 2019, with Dota 2’s final broadcast live on SKY Sport.

DOTA 2

The HSL gives an opportunity for secondary school students to compete in a competitive esports environment working together as a team and representing their school, similar to traditional high school sports.

“For some students, HSL is the first time the student is actively pushing themselves to achieve a challenging goal. This self-motivation allows the development of important skills such as communication and teamwork” says Danny Chang, Teacher and HSL supervisor at Mt Roskill Grammar.

“The success we have had has evolved around teamwork and communication” added Vincent Lo, former Captain of the MAGS HSL team. “We ensure that each and every one of us talk as much as we can during the match as communication in a team is the key to success”.

Registrations close July 31st 2019. Australian and New Zealand high school students interested in participating in Dota 2 or Clash Royale for HSL Season 2 are invited to register for the tournaments HERE and join the official HSL community Discord channel.
