Pokémon GO players are getting a major Legendary event to kick off 2026, with Niantic officially confirming Kyurem Fusion Raid Day. The limited time event introduces Black Kyurem and White Kyurem to raids, along with boosted Shiny chances, powerful signature moves, and a brand new Fusion mechanic that changes how Kyurem works in the game.

Here’s everything trainers need to know before heading out to battle.

Kyurem Fusion Raid Day Date and Time

Kyurem Fusion Raid Day takes place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, running from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.

The event is fully Remote Raid friendly, and with a higher Remote Raid Pass limit, global participation is expected to be high throughout the three hour window.

Featured Raid Bosses and Rotation Schedule

During the event, four powerful Legendary Pokémon will appear more frequently in raids:

• Reshiram
• Zekrom
• Black Kyurem
• White Kyurem

These Raid Bosses rotate every 30 minutes throughout the event.

Raid rotation schedule

• 2:00 – 2:30 p.m. Reshiram and Black Kyurem
• 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. Zekrom and White Kyurem
• 3:00 – 3:30 p.m. Reshiram and Black Kyurem
• 3:30 – 4:00 p.m. Zekrom and White Kyurem
• 4:00 – 4:30 p.m. Reshiram and Black Kyurem
• 4:30 – 5:00 p.m. Zekrom and White Kyurem

After defeating Black Kyurem or White Kyurem, trainers will receive an encounter with regular Kyurem, not the fused forms.

Winning raids during the event also rewards Fusion Energy, which is required to fuse Kyurem.

Event Bonuses and Shiny Boosts

Several bonuses will be active during Kyurem Fusion Raid Day:

• Increased chance to encounter Shiny Reshiram, Shiny Zekrom, and Shiny Kyurem from raids
• Receive up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs, for a total of six
• Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20 from Friday, January 9 at 5:00 p.m. PST until Saturday, January 10 at 8:00 p.m. PST

These bonuses make the event one of the best opportunities yet to chase Shiny Legendaries and stock up on Fusion Energy.

Featured Attacks During the Event

Pokémon encountered from raids during Kyurem Fusion Raid Day will know exclusive Charged Attacks:

• Reshiram will know Fusion Flare
• Zekrom will know Fusion Bolt
• Kyurem may know Glaciate

Glaciate is especially important, as it enables Kyurem’s new Fusion exclusive moves when combined with Reshiram or Zekrom.

How Pokémon Fusion Works in Pokémon GO

Pokémon Fusion allows certain Pokémon to combine into a single, more powerful form with a new appearance and abilities.

With enough Fusion Energy, Kyurem can fuse with:

• Zekrom to become Black Kyurem
• Reshiram to become White Kyurem

Fused Kyurem will remain in its fused form until the trainer chooses to separate it. Separating does not cost Fusion Energy or Candy.

Please note that Black Kyurem and White Kyurem cannot be traded, transferred to the Professor, or sent to Pokémon HOME.

Black Kyurem Fusion Requirements

To fuse Kyurem with Zekrom and create Black Kyurem, trainers need:

• 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy
• 30 Kyurem Candy
• 30 Zekrom Candy

Black Kyurem fully inherits Kyurem’s stats, so using a high IV Kyurem is strongly recommended.

White Kyurem Fusion Requirements

To fuse Kyurem with Reshiram and create White Kyurem, trainers need:

• 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy
• 30 Kyurem Candy
• 30 Reshiram Candy

Like Black Kyurem, White Kyurem inherits Kyurem’s stats, not Reshiram’s.

Volt Fusion Energy and Blaze Fusion Energy

Volt Fusion Energy and Blaze Fusion Energy are rare resources used exclusively for Kyurem fusion.

Trainers can earn:

• Volt Fusion Energy by defeating Black Kyurem in raids
• Blaze Fusion Energy by defeating White Kyurem in raids

Adventure Effect: Freeze Shock

When Kyurem that knows Glaciate is fused with Zekrom, Glaciate becomes Freeze Shock, Black Kyurem’s signature move.

Freeze Shock can be activated as an Adventure Effect using:

• 5,000 Stardust
• 5 Kyurem Candy

The effect lasts 10 minutes and causes encountered Pokémon to stop moving, making them significantly easier to catch, including with connected accessory devices.

The timer can be extended in 10 minute increments, up to two hours per use, and up to 24 hours total.

Freeze Shock cannot be active at the same time as another Adventure Effect. At this time, Black Kyurem cannot learn Freeze Shock via Charged TM or Elite Charged TM.

Adventure Effect: Ice Burn

When Kyurem that knows Glaciate is fused with Reshiram, Glaciate becomes Ice Burn, White Kyurem’s signature move.

Ice Burn’s Adventure Effect also costs:

• 5,000 Stardust
• 5 Kyurem Candy

For 10 minutes, the catch ring in Pokémon encounters moves more slowly, making Excellent Throws easier and improving catch rates overall, including with accessory devices.

Like Freeze Shock, Ice Burn can be extended up to 24 hours total and cannot be active alongside other Adventure Effects. White Kyurem cannot currently learn Ice Burn via Charged TM or Elite Charged TM.

Kyurem Fusion Raid Day Ticket and Web Store Box

For US$4.99, or the equivalent in local currency, trainers can purchase an event ticket that includes:

• Eight additional Raid Passes from Gyms, for a total of 14
• Increased chance to receive Rare Candy XL from raids
• 50 percent more XP from Raid Battles
• Double Stardust from Raid Battles

These bonuses are active only during the event hours on January 10.

Tickets can be gifted to Pokémon GO friends with Great Friends status or higher. Tickets are non refundable and cannot be purchased using PokéCoins.

The Kyurem Fusion Raid Day Ultra Ticket Box will also be available on the Pokémon GO Web Store for the same price and includes the event ticket plus a bonus Premium Battle Pass.
