After a difficult run with Sentinels, the American talent is heading back to the team where he first made his name in top-tier Valorant.

Welcome back home @N4RRATE 👋

*pending Riot approval pic.twitter.com/B7bJDZHri2

— Karmine Corp (@KarmineCorp) March 17, 2026

The move comes just ahead of VCT 2026: EMEA Stage 1, giving Karmine Corp a major roster shake-up at a crucial point in the season.

N4RRATE’s Return Follows Tough Sentinels Spell

N4RRATE’s stint with Sentinels lasted roughly a season and a half, but never quite delivered on the expectations that came with the roster rebuild. He joined the North American organisation in the 2024 off-season as part of a high-profile overhaul that replaced veterans TenZ and Sacy.

Across 2025, Sentinels managed two runner-up finishes in regional play, both losses to G2 Esports, but struggled to convert those results into international success. That trend continued into 2026, where the team placed 9th–10th at the VCT Americas Kickoff, their worst result in the partnership era.

The poor Kickoff performance also meant Sentinels failed to qualify for Masters Santiago, extending a frustrating run for one of Valorant’s most supported teams. During this period, N4RRATE was often used in shifting roles, even stepping in as a Duelist at times as the roster searched for consistency.

Karmine Corp Brings Back A Proven Piece

For Karmine Corp, this isn’t just a reunion, it’s a calculated move to restore a proven system. N4RRATE was instrumental during his first stint with the French organisation in 2024, where he helped secure the VCT EMEA Kickoff title, the first trophy of his career.

His individual performance during that run stood out across the region. He finished with the second-highest rating, third-highest ACS, and the best K:D ratio at the event, establishing himself as one of EMEA’s strongest Initiators.

Even later in the season, despite KC finishing 5th–6th in Stage 2, N4RRATE maintained strong individual numbers, including a top-five ACS among all players.

That level of impact is exactly what KC will be hoping to regain as they head into Stage 1.

Roster Changes And Role Adjustments

N4RRATE’s arrival comes with immediate changes to Karmine Corp’s lineup. In-game leader Bogdan “sheydos” Naumov has been moved to the inactive roster, despite only recently joining the team.

With sheydos stepping aside, Karmine Corp is expected to shift towards a more flexible calling structure rather than relying on a single dedicated IGL. Early expectations suggest Hazem “Avez” Khaled could take on primary calling duties within a more shared system.

In terms of roles, N4RRATE is likely to return to his natural Initiator position, moving away from the experimental Duelist role he played at Sentinels. The team’s agent pools also allow for adaptable compositions, including double-Duelist or double-Controller setups, giving KC more tactical flexibility heading into the next split.

The current active roster is expected to be:

Zhumagali “dos9” Dastan

Burak “LewN” Alkan

Hazem “Avez” Khaled

Dmitry “SUYGETSU” Ilyushin

Marshall “N4RRATE” Massey

Both Teams Look To Recover From Kickoff Struggles

Interestingly, both Sentinels and Karmine Corp are coming off disappointing Kickoff performances. KC also finished 9th–10th in EMEA, managing only a single win in the lower bracket before being eliminated by teams like NAVI, Liquid, and Team Heretics.

That context makes this roster move feel less like a luxury change and more like a necessary reset for both sides.

Sentinels have already begun restructuring, including bringing in Jonah “JonahP” Pulice from G2, a move that overlapped with N4RRATE’s agent pool and likely influenced the decision to part ways.

Eyes On VCT 2026: EMEA Stage 1

N4RRATE is set to rejoin Karmine Corp in time for VCT 2026: EMEA Stage 1, which begins on April 1. The stakes are high, with the top three teams qualifying for Masters London in June.

Karmine Corp has been placed in Group Alpha alongside Team Liquid, Team Heretics, NAVI, FUT Esports, and Gentle Mates, making it one of the more competitive groups in the region.

For N4RRATE, this return is a chance to reset in familiar territory. For Karmine Corp, it’s a bet on a player who has already proven he can deliver at the highest level in EMEA.

Whether that synergy can be recaptured quickly enough to make a deep Stage 1 run is the question that will define this reunion.

North American organisation ENVY has announced that it is pausing all competitive operations in Marvel Rivals, marking another major departure from the game’s esports scene.

The update was shared on social media, where ENVY thanked its roster for their commitment and passion throughout the 2025 season. The organisation said that all players are now free to explore new opportunities with other teams.

In its statement, ENVY wrote that it hopes to return once the Marvel Rivals competitive ecosystem finds firmer ground, noting that it is proud of what the roster achieved together during its time in the scene.

Looking Back At ENVY’s 2025 Season

While the decision to step back was unexpected by fans, ENVY leaves behind a solid competitive run. The team found success with a win at The Shroud Gauntlet and later secured second place at the Mid Season Finals, establishing itself as one of the standout squads in the game’s inaugural circuit.

The announcement brings their 2025 campaign to an end and marks the start of a transition period for the roster as players begin searching for new organisations.

A Growing Trend In The Scene

ENVY is not alone in reassessing its place in Marvel Rivals esports. Shortly after the Ignite Grand Finals wrapped up, Sentinels, another major Americas competitor and the Ignite Stage 1 champion, also revealed that it would be pausing its involvement in the game.

At the same time, some organisations like Citadel Gaming have reaffirmed their commitment to the title, hoping the scene stabilises as developers chart the road ahead.

Concerns About The Future

The competitive future of Marvel Rivals remains unclear, and players have increasingly voiced frustration online. Many point to limited communication from developer NetEase Games, while others argue that the current financial structure does not provide enough incentive for teams to remain long term.

With multiple top organisations stepping away, fans and players are waiting to see how NetEase will address these concerns and support the game’s esports landscape moving forward.

What Comes Next

For now, ENVY’s departure adds another layer of uncertainty as the scene enters the off season. The organisation has left the door open for a return, but the next steps will depend heavily on how Marvel Rivals’ competitive ecosystem evolves.

As more details emerge, the community will be watching closely to see whether the game can regain momentum in 2026.

A Sudden Pause in the Marvel Rivals Scene

North American esports organisation Sentinels has announced it is pausing its operations in Marvel Rivals, marking the end of an eight-month run that helped shape the game’s early competitive history.

Today we are announcing that we will be pausing our operations in Marvel Rivals

We couldn’t be prouder of what we accomplished in the last year. Together, we built something special, leaving our mark on the early history of the game. If and when NetEase roll out a program with… pic.twitter.com/9axKPQfNCK

The decision means the team will part ways with its roster, allowing all players to explore new opportunities. Former strategist player Chassidy ‘aramori’ Kaye expressed her disappointment on social media, saying, “My heart breaks with Sentinels’ decision to leave Marvel Rivals Esports.

Sentinels’ Journey Through Marvel Rivals

Sentinels’ time in Marvel Rivals was brief but impactful. The organisation entered the game’s esports scene earlier in 2025 and quickly established itself as one of the top contenders.

Their highlight came during Ignite Stage 1, where Sentinels defeated 100 Thieves 4-3 in a thrilling Grand Final to claim the Americas Championship. The victory secured their qualification for the Mid-Season Finals, though their run was cut short after an early elimination by Citadel Gaming.

In Stage 2, Sentinels finished sixth out of 16 teams after falling to DarkZero in the Lower Brackets, narrowly missing out on qualification for the Ignite Grand Finals, which were ultimately won by Virtus.pro.

Despite their strong presence and passionate fan base, the organisation’s departure reflects the growing frustration among teams over the lack of financial and structural support from NetEase Games, the developer behind Marvel Rivals.

A Subtle Message to NetEase

While Sentinels’ official statement remained diplomatic, it also included a subtle critique of NetEase’s handling of the game’s esports ecosystem. Their mention of “team incentives” hints at a broader industry concern, the absence of a revenue-sharing or team support program, which many organisations see as essential for sustainability.

NetEase launched Marvel Rivals in December 2024, accompanied by a $3 million tournament circuit. While the game’s blend of Marvel heroes, fast-paced combat, and unique team-up mechanics drew strong player interest, the competitive side has struggled to find stability without direct backing for organisations.

Sentinels’ exit adds pressure on NetEase to introduce a clearer incentive framework if they want to retain top teams and keep esports growth steady.

The Road Ahead for Marvel Rivals Esports

With Sentinels leaving the scene, questions are now being raised about the long-term health of Marvel Rivals esports. Players and fans have praised the game’s constant balance updates and seasonal events, but many believe those efforts need to be matched by a more sustainable competitive model.

As one of the scene’s most prominent teams bows out, attention now turns to NetEase’s next move. If the developer can implement a proper partnership or incentive system, organisations like Sentinels could return to the fold. Until then, the game’s competitive future hangs in the balance.

For now, Sentinels’ chapter in Marvel Rivals closes with pride, and a clear message about what it takes to build a thriving esports ecosystem.

The North American giants enter 2026 with a brand-new look and a blend of veteran leadership and young talent, signalling the start of a rebuilding phase that could define their next chapter.

The New Sentinels Lineup for 2026

Sentinels’ confirmed roster for the 2026 VALORANT season includes:

Mohamed “johnqt” Amine Ouarid

Marshall “N4RRATE” Massey

Gabriel “cortezia” Cortez

Mirel “Kyu” Braco Hrustemovic

Yassine “Reduxx” Aboulalazm

Rounding out the staff are head coach Adam “kaplan” Kaplan, assistant coach Luke “GUNTER” Clives, and managers Bryan “Zyto” Ybanez and Kevin “Kez” Jeon.

This marks the first time in years that Sentinels’ VALORANT division has looked almost entirely different. With zekken and Zellsis gone, johnqt now stands as the sole remaining member of the VCT 2024 Masters Madrid championship squad, carrying the torch of one of North America’s most iconic rosters.

Johnqt Holds the Core Together

Amine “johnqt” Ouarid returns as Sentinels’ in-game leader, extending his run with the organisation into a third season. Widely respected for his composure and tactical mind, johnqt led Sentinels to their second Masters title in 2024, but 2025 was a rocky year, with their best finish being 5th–6th at Masters Toronto.

Heading into 2026, he remains the backbone of the team, providing the experience and structure that could steady Sentinels through another transition year.

N4RRATE Stays On for Another Season

Also sticking around is Marshall “N4RRATE” Massey, whose consistency on Initiator agents earned him another shot on the main roster. His reliable utility play and adaptability throughout 2025 proved valuable enough for Sentinels to continue building around him.

Cortezia Brings South American Firepower

Joining from MIBR, Gabriel “cortezia” Cortez arrives after an impressive breakout year in 2025. He helped MIBR reach both Masters Toronto and Champions Paris, where the team surprised many with a top-six finish. Known for his sharp defensive play and calm under pressure, cortezia continues Sentinels’ long-running connection with Brazilian talent, following the likes of Sacy and pANcada.

His addition also opens tactical possibilities for Sentinels, as his ability to anchor sites could allow johnqt to experiment with more flexible agent roles.

From Cubert to the Big Stage: Kyu and Reduxx

Rounding out the lineup are two promising academy graduates from Sentinels’ Cubert Academy, Mirel “Kyu” Braco Hrustemovic and Yassine “Reduxx” Aboulalazm.

Kyu, a late addition to the academy squad, made an immediate impact during VCL North America Stage 3, helping Cubert go undefeated in the Swiss Stage and secure a top-four finish. His sharp Initiator play could complement N4RRATE in a potential double-Initiator setup.

Reduxx, meanwhile, steps into zekken’s former role as the team’s duelist. Having turned 18 earlier this year, Reduxx already built a name for himself in the NA scene through Oxygen Esports and later with Sentinels’ academy. Known for his electric aim and flexible agent pool, his promotion marks a full-circle moment, he previously subbed for Sentinels in Red Bull Home Ground #5, hinting that the organisation had been grooming him for this opportunity all along.

A Long-Term Project in Motion

Sentinels’ CEO Rob Moore recently confirmed that the entire 2026 roster has been signed through to 2028, emphasising a long-term vision for the team. While the new lineup may lack the star power of previous eras, it represents a strategic investment in developing talent rather than relying on big-name signings.

With Kaplan still at the helm, Sentinels are clearly betting on structure, growth, and chemistry to bring them back to the top of the VCT. Fans may not see instant results, but the potential for a strong comeback is certainly there.

Looking Ahead

After years of high expectations and public scrutiny, this is a fresh beginning for Sentinels — a mix of seasoned leadership, international flair, and homegrown potential.

Whether this roster can replicate the organisation’s former glory or carve out a new legacy entirely remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the Sentinels are officially back in rebuild mode, and all eyes will be on how far this new generation can go.

After three years of highlights, heartbreaks, and international battles, Zachary “zekken” Patrone has officially parted ways with Sentinels, marking the end of an era for one of North America’s most electric VALORANT players.

A Farewell Fit for a Star

Sentinels confirmed the news with a heartfelt post on X, thanking their long-time Duelist and recognising his legacy within the organisation.

You set the bar for what it means to be a Sentinel

There will always be a key to the city for you @zekkenVAL pic.twitter.com/mHtOuN2gsE

— Sentinels (@Sentinels) November 1, 2025

The 20-year-old departs as a free agent after his contract expired at the end of the 2025 VCT season. His time with Sentinels saw the organisation return to the top of the Americas region, and at one point, reclaim their status as one of the most feared teams in global VALORANT.

From XSET Prodigy to Sentinels Star

Zekken first joined Sentinels in late 2022 after an impressive stint with XSET, a team that was dominant in the pre-franchise era. Known for his confident playstyle and flexible agent pool, he initially shared Duelist duties with Tyson “TenZ” Ngo before later transitioning into hybrid roles.

His defining year came in 2024, when Sentinels lifted two major trophies: VCT Americas Kickoff and Masters Madrid. Those victories marked the organisation’s first titles since 2021 and cemented zekken’s reputation as one of the world’s premier Duelists.

Sentinels also achieved a respectable fourth-place finish at Champions Seoul 2024, closing the year as one of the most successful teams globally.

The Rebuild Year

However, 2025 proved more turbulent. After veterans TenZ and Sacy retired, Sentinels underwent a soft rebuild, introducing new faces while retaining core leadership in Johnqt and Kaplan. The team remained competitive but struggled to maintain consistency on the international stage.

Despite qualifying for every major event that year, Sentinels couldn’t replicate their 2024 form. They finished as runners-up at both the Americas Kickoff and Stage 1, followed by a third-place result in Stage 2. Internationally, they exited early at Masters Bangkok, placed 5th–6th at Masters Toronto, and failed to advance past groups at Champions Seoul.

With Zellsis departing to Cloud9 and Bang moving on earlier in the offseason, zekken’s exit now marks a full transition period for the squad.

The Next Chapter: MIBR on the Horizon

According to reports from THESPIKE.GG and Brazilian journalist Bruno Povoleri, zekken is expected to join MIBR, forming a new superteam alongside world champion Erick “aspas” Santos.

The move would unite two of the most mechanically gifted players in the Americas, sparking excitement, and plenty of memes, across social media.

Fans have already dubbed the potential roster “MIBR Zekken,” with comments flooding Sentinels’ farewell post:

“MIBR ARE WINNING IT ALL.”
“Sad to see him go, but happy to see him with aspas again.”
“O7 King. End of an era.”

If confirmed, the transfer could make MIBR one of the top contenders heading into VCT 2026, especially given aspas’ championship pedigree and zekken’s aggressive versatility.

What’s Next for Sentinels

For Sentinels, all eyes are now on their next rebuild phase. Reports suggest the team will retain Marshall “N4RRATE” Massey and Mohamed “johnqt” Ouarid, with potential additions including former MIBR player Gabriel “qck” Cortez and IGL Mirel “braco” Hrustemovic.

Head coach Adam “Kaplan” Kaplan and assistant Luke “GUNTER” Clives are also expected to continue leading the lineup into 2026, aiming to restore Sentinels’ international dominance.

Despite the shakeup, Sentinels’ fanbase remains as passionate as ever, a testament to how deeply players like zekken have defined the team’s identity.

End of an Era, Start of Another

Zekken’s departure feels bittersweet for many fans. While it marks the close of a memorable chapter for Sentinels, it also opens a new one filled with potential. Whether he’s repping the red of Sentinels or the green and yellow of MIBR, one thing is certain, zekken’s story in VALORANT is far from over.

The move marks Sentinels’ full return to League of Legends after nearly a decade away, and it comes at a transformative moment for the league as it reverts to an independent model. Sentinels will take over the Provisional Guest Team slot, becoming the LCS’s eighth permanent partner team and ushering in fresh rivalries, energy, and storylines for North American fans.

From Phoenix1 to Sentinels

For long-time followers of the LCS, this isn’t Sentinels’ first time on the Rift. Before the organisation became known for its VALORANT success, its roots lay in Phoenix1, which competed in the LCS between Summer 2016 and Summer 2017.

Phoenix1 had a memorable run, finishing third in the 2017 Spring Split and producing standout moments like Noh “Arrow” Dong-hyeon earning the Split MVP title and Mike “MikeYeung” Yeung being crowned Rookie of the Split that summer. The team also represented North America at the inaugural Rift Rivals, helping the region defeat Europe 4–2 — including a clean sweep against G2 Esports.

Now, as Sentinels, they aim to build on that legacy and bring their trademark confidence and flair back to the league.

Building a Future in League

Sentinels CEO Rob Moore called the move “the next stage in Sentinels’ evolution,” highlighting how the organisation’s journey from Fortnite to VALORANT and now League of Legends represents a natural progression.

“We value our relationship with Riot, we respect the history of the LCS, and we are committed to bringing the same level of preparation, resources, and fan experience that our community expects from Sentinels,” Moore said.

Sentinels have already proven themselves on the world stage with two international VALORANT trophies, and Moore believes that same formula of investment, infrastructure, and fan engagement can carry over to League.

According to Riot’s announcement, the team will invest in multi-year coaching, player development, and infrastructure to create a roster that mixes veteran experience with emerging talent. Staffing details, roster reveals, and community initiatives will be shared in the coming months.

A Cheeky Welcome

The announcement came with a humorous touch, a video featuring legendary LCS player Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng wearing a Sentinels jersey. While Doublelift confirmed he won’t be joining the roster, the cameo was a fitting nod to the region’s rich history and Sentinels’ ability to blend competition with entertainment.

Fellow LCS teams also joined in on the fun, including Shopify Rebellion’s Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami, who recorded a lighthearted welcome video from Sentinels’ own signature red chair. Even G2 Esports couldn’t resist joining the banter after Moore joked on X about “a commitment to beating G2.”

Looking Ahead

With their official League of Legends division now confirmed, Sentinels are ready to expand their footprint in Riot Games’ ecosystem. The organisation already competes in VALORANT, Apex Legends, StarCraft II, and Marvel Rivals, and even runs Cubert Academy, a development program aimed at nurturing up-and-coming talent.

Their re-entry into the LCS represents not just a comeback, but a continuation of their long-standing vision: to build competitive teams that fans can connect with across every major title.

The Sentinels’ return is more than nostalgia. It’s a statement, one that promises fierce competition, high production value, and the kind of entertainment that’s made them one of the most recognisable names in esports today.

— Rob Moore (@robmooreEsports) October 8, 2025

Moore shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), noting that while star players Zachary ‘zekken’ Patrone and team captain Mohammed ‘johnqt’ Amine Quario are travelling this week, the Cubert Academy roster will get the chance to trial with the main Sentinels team. Head Coach Adam ‘kaplan’ Kaplan and his staff will be evaluating how each academy member performs in scrims and practice matches.

“While Zekken and Johnqt are travelling this week, we will be giving some of the Cubert Academy players the opportunity to trial with the main roster,” Moore explained. “Kaplan and the group are evaluating which roster combinations they believe have the most potential for 2026 and beyond. We’ll definitely be keeping TacticalRab and VCT Scrims busy as you’ll see a lot of variation. Try and hang in there, you’ll hear from us soon.”

Among those expected to get trial opportunities are:

Yassin ‘reduxx’ Aboulalazm

Marc-Andre ‘NiSMO’ Tayar

Christian ‘nightz’ Smith

Mirel ‘Kyu’ Braco Hrustemovic

‘satellite’

The announcement follows a mixed 2025 season for Sentinels. The team managed to qualify for every international VALORANT event, but ultimately fell short of any major championship wins.

Reflecting on 2024’s Highs and 2025’s Challenges

In 2024, Sentinels were at the top of their game, taking home both a domestic and an international title. They claimed victory at the VCT Americas Kickoff, defeating LOUD 3–2 in a dramatic Grand Final, and later secured the VALORANT Masters Madrid championship after another 3–2 win against Gen.G Esports. The team also placed a respectable fourth at VALORANT Champions 2024.

However, 2025 proved to be more of a grind. Despite strong performances, the squad couldn’t convert any of their runs into trophies. Sentinels placed second in the VCT Americas Kickoff, seventh at Masters Bangkok, and second again at Americas Stage 1 after falling to G2 Esports 1–3. They finished sixth at Masters Toronto, fifth at the Esports World Cup, and third in Americas Stage 2.

Their season ended on a disappointing note with an early exit from VALORANT Champions 2025, where they were eliminated in the Group Stage, finishing among the bottom eight teams.

Fans React and Look Ahead

Moore’s transparency about the team’s next steps has been met with appreciation from fans online, many praising the open communication during what’s likely a pivotal off-season. Some have even thrown in their own suggestions for roster moves, with one viral reply urging Sentinels to sign Brazilian superstar aspas.

While there’s no word yet on permanent roster changes, Moore’s comments make it clear that Sentinels are taking a methodical approach toward rebuilding for 2026, and fans can expect plenty of variation in scrims over the coming weeks.

VALORANT Champions 2025 kicked off in Paris with fireworks as Paper Rex and GIANTX both secured big opening wins in Group A. The Pacific powerhouse brushed aside China’s Xi Lai Gaming in a 2-0 sweep, while Europe’s dark horses pulled off a gritty three-map victory over Sentinels to set up a mouthwatering clash in the winners’ match.

Paper Rex Roll Past Xi Lai Gaming

The tournament began with Paper Rex (PRX) taking on China’s fourth seed Xi Lai Gaming (XLG). Despite a slow start on Bind, PRX’s trademark aggression soon came to life. Ilia “something” Petrov produced one of the plays of the day, clutching a stunning 1v2 with his Operator to swing momentum. From there, PRX took control, closing Bind 13-9 before dismantling XLG on Sunset 13-5.

We win today’s match with a 2-0! GGs to XLG!

Bind: 13-9
Sunset: 13-5

See ya in our next #VALORANTChampions match on 17th September, 9pm GMT+8! 🔥 pic.twitter.com/vcX1ShIlmP

— Paper Rex (@pprxteam) September 12, 2025

Star performances came from f0rsakeN, who dropped 23 kills on Sunset with a 1.59 rating, and something, whose Bind heroics earned him a 1.63 rating. Between the two maps, he averaged an absurd 1.6 rating, comfortably outshining Xi Lai’s top fragger NoMan, who managed 35 kills but also gave up 34 deaths.

The win means Paper Rex move forward to the winners’ match, while Xi Lai drop to the elimination game against Sentinels. For PRX, it’s the perfect start to their Champions run, coming just months after winning Masters Toronto and claiming a third Pacific title.

GIANTX Take Down Sentinels in a Thriller

If Paper Rex’s opener was clinical, GIANTX’s debut was chaotic, bloody, and unforgettable. Facing North American giants Sentinels, few gave the EMEA side much of a chance, but the so-called Cinderella squad rose to the occasion in spectacular fashion.

A strong recovery from @GIANTXVALORANT gives them the WIN over Sentinels in their opening match at #VALORANTChampions Paris! pic.twitter.com/GBd7UpVwy1

Sentinels struck first on their pick of Corrode, suffocating GIANTX with double-Controller setups and closing out a commanding 13-6 win. It looked like business as usual, with zekken and johnqt finding plenty of impact.

But GIANTX roared back on Sunset. Despite Sentinels’ reputation on the map, Cloud and westside completely took over, combining for 24 kills in the first half as GX stormed to a 10-2 defensive lead. A few consolation rounds from Sentinels weren’t enough, as GIANTX wrapped up a dominant 13-4 win to level the series.

That set up Haven as the decider, and it delivered one of the most intense maps of the day. Sentinels raced to a 6-0 lead, threatening a repeat of their Corrode dominance. GIANTX’s timeout proved the turning point. Adjusting their aggression and timing, Cloud’s mid-round calling opened up the map, and ara became a force of nature in duels.

From 0-6 down, GIANTX clawed their way back into the game, eventually winning 13-9. Cloud finished with a match-high 51 kills alongside his IGL masterclass, while ara spearheaded the fragging effort with 22 kills and a ridiculous 10-2 first duel record on Haven.

Site hold by GIANTX to send them to SERIES POINT! #VALORANTChampions pic.twitter.com/xyyvxzrmme

Sentinels had their chances, even converting some rounds from man-disadvantage positions, but they let too many slip on defence. By the end, it was GIANTX who looked like the composed veterans, closing the series 2-1.

What’s Next

Paper Rex and GIANTX will now face off on September 17 in the Group A winners’ match, with the victor securing a playoff spot. Sentinels drop into the elimination bracket against Xi Lai Gaming, needing a win to stay alive in Paris.

The action continues tomorrow with Group C’s opening fixtures, featuring reigning champions EDward Gaming against NRG, and Team Liquid taking on DRX.

Set your calendars for Day 2’s matches at #VALORANTChampions Paris! pic.twitter.com/9AHTG3u4wD

Nuk joins the North American powerhouse as a Strategist, best known for his sharp play on characters like Luna Snow, Loki and Rocket Raccoon. His arrival marks a big step forward in his career, as 100 Thieves continue to position themselves as one of the top teams in the Marvel Rivals competitive scene.

From SHROUD-X to 100 Thieves

Before landing at 100 Thieves, Nuk competed under SHROUD-X, the organisation founded by Michael ‘Shroud’ Grzesiek. With SHROUD-X, he featured in high-profile events such as Rival Fight Night. However, the team’s contract came to an end on August 16th, leaving its roster to pursue new opportunities. Since then, several former SHROUD-X players have signed with other major organisations, and Nuk’s move to 100 Thieves is arguably the biggest of them all.

100 Thieves’ Rise in Marvel Rivals

Over the past year, 100 Thieves have built a strong reputation in Marvel Rivals esports. They claimed victory at the 2025 North America Invitational, finished second at the Season 1 Championship, were runners-up in The Shroud Gauntlet, narrowly missed out on first place at Ignite Stage 1 Americas, and placed third at the Mid-Season Finals.

This consistent run of top finishes has made them one of the most respected teams in the scene, and the addition of Nuk could be the extra push they need heading into Ignite Stage 2.

Roster Moves Across the Scene

100 Thieves aren’t the only team making headlines with roster changes. With Ignite Stage 2 looming, several organisations are reshaping their line-ups.

Citadel Gaming, the Ignite Stage 1 EMEA champions, stunned fans by signing Adam ‘Meliø’ Jensen, a former Mid-Season Finals champion, as their new Duellist.

RAD Esports re-entered the Americas region with a completely fresh roster after parting ways with its former international champion squad, which is now competing independently as Team1 while searching for a new home.

Gen.G Esports announced a new roster after cutting ties with four of its original members.

Sentinels, the Ignite Stage 1 Americas champions, also parted ways with three players following their Mid-Season Finals campaign.

The constant reshuffling highlights just how competitive and unpredictable the Marvel Rivals scene has become as the road to the Ignite Grand Finals draws closer.

With Nuk now on board, all eyes will be on 100 Thieves to see whether this latest signing can be the difference-maker in their push for the top.

Adding fuel to the hype, anime media distributors Aniplex are tagged in the announcement, confirming their involvement. This suggests the collab could go beyond just clothing and lean into event activations as well.

Merchandise leak hints at apparel drop

While the announcement itself didn’t reveal specific details, leaks have already given us an early look. Six days ago, streamer daeunttv posted photos thanking 100 Thieves Apparel for sending over the unreleased collection. The images show two Demon Slayer-themed shirts, confirming that merchandise is at least part of the partnership.

This follows a wider trend in esports and anime collaborations. Just last year, Team Liquid worked with Demon Slayer on a full apparel collection, while Cloud9 teamed up with One Piece, and Sentinels dropped a Haikyuu!! collab.

It’s not just esports either. Demon Slayer itself has been everywhere lately, with a Fortnite x Demon Slayer collaboration rumoured to arrive later this season. Between that and the upcoming Infinity Castle movie, it’s safe to say the franchise is having a huge cultural moment.

100 Thieves are no stranger to the anime world either. Back in 2023, they released a Dragon Ball Z-inspired collection, and in 2022 they partnered with Attack on Titan for another limited drop. It’s clear the organisation knows how much anime resonates with the esports community.

Anime and esports go hand-in-hand

These collaborations keep happening for a reason. Both esports and anime share huge overlapping fan bases. From Crunchyroll launching My Hero Academia merch with FURIA and TSM, to the Esports World Cup in Riyadh featuring anime-themed events, the connection between the two scenes just makes sense.

It’s not just esports either. Video games are also jumping on the anime train. PUBG Mobile recently ran an Attack on Titan event, and Overwatch 2 has rolled out anime-inspired skins from One Punch Man, Cowboy Bebop, My Hero Academia, and Gundam.

What to expect from the collab

For now, fans will need to wait until September 5 to get the full reveal of what 100 Thieves x Demon Slayer has in store. With the Infinity Castle movie dropping a week later, and with Aniplex involved, this collaboration looks like it could be more than just another merchandise line.

Whether it’s an event, an apparel drop, or something bigger, one thing’s certain, anime and esports crossovers aren’t slowing down anytime soon.
