A Second Chance in VCT EMEA

Gentle Mates were initially relegated from the VCT EMEA league in 2025 after a rough Stage 2 where they failed to secure a win. However, the team was given an unexpected lifeline when KOI was removed from the partnered league, opening a spot for the French organisation to return for 2026.

With another chance to prove themselves, the organisation chose to rebuild almost entirely from scratch, keeping only Czech player Patrik “Minny” Hušek from the 2025 lineup. The rest of the roster features four new signings, all bringing different strengths and experiences to the table.

Patryk “starxo” Kopczynski takes the lead

The team’s new in-game leader is a familiar name in VALORANT history. starxo famously won the first ever VALORANT Champions title in 2021 under Acend, cementing his legacy early in the game’s lifespan.

In 2023 and 2024, he spent time with KOI, and in 2025 he moved to Joblife, where he reinvented himself as an IGL and became the highest rated player of the entire Ascension tournament. While Joblife didn’t qualify for VCT, his standout performance made him an ideal centrepiece for Gentle Mates’ rebuild.

Fresh firepower and proven consistency

The only returning player, Minny, will continue as a flexible backbone for the team. Throughout 2025 he handled a variety of roles and even took on IGL duties in the second half of the season. Now he returns with stronger support around him.

Former Karmine Corp duelist Martin “marteen” Pátek brings two years of tier one experience in EMEA. KC impressed in 2024 with a Kickoff win and top eight finishes internationally, and even though they couldn’t maintain that success, marteen remains a dangerous individual threat.

Two rookies set for their Tier 1 debut

Gentle Mates have also picked up two rising stars to round out the lineup.

Taranvir “bipo” Singh is a familiar name in Europe’s tier two scene, most recently standing out with MOUZ after helping them win Split 3 of VCL DACH. His aggressive duelist style will be tested on the VCT main stage for the first time.

Conner “GLYPH” Garcia joins from the other side of the world, moving from North America to EMEA after a strong 2025 performance. With Ambrosia he reached the top level of NA Challengers, and later led Winthrop University to a top four finish at Ascension Americas. His development has been rapid, and fans are eager to see how he handles tier one competition.

The Staff Behind the Rebuild

Alongside their new roster, Gentle Mates have upgraded their coaching team. Leading them is Pavle “pakko” Kostic as head coach, supported by Jiri “KUNDIKUNDI” Honkala as assistant coach. The staff lineup also includes Sinan “Luinwess” Koyuncu, Marc “ManyFender” Kowolik as manager, and Marceau “Placido” Lambert.

With experienced leadership both in and out of the server, the organisation is clearly aiming for long term stability.

Things are moving fast over at BC.Game. Hot off the heels of s1mple joining their squad, the CS2 newcomer isn’t wasting time making waves in the competitive scene. According to insider Alexey “OverDrive” Biryukov, the organisation is reportedly in talks to buy out three players from one of the “top” teams in Counter-Strike right now.

OverDrive, for those not in the loop, isn’t just some random name on the timeline. He’s a veteran of the scene, having competed professionally since 2013 with over 20 teams under his belt. These days, he’s more known for his insight and leaks than his fragging skills,  and when he talks, people listen.

The potential buyout, if it goes through, would mark a massive step forward for BC.Game, who are clearly looking to skip the “grind from the bottom” phase and go straight for top-tier status. Fans are already comparing their approach to that of Falcons, the Saudi-backed team who built their roster by pulling big names from around the scene. But not everyone’s convinced.

While the names of the targeted players haven’t been revealed, speculation is running wild in the community. If the deal does go ahead, it’ll mean massive changes not just for BC.Game, but for whatever top-tier team ends up losing three of their core players.

In the meantime, BC.Game’s current lineup, pr1metapz, CacaNito, nexa (IGL), s1mple, and aNdu, with emi coaching, is set to debut at the ESL Challenger League Season 50 Europe, Cup #1. Their first match against Apogee Esports kicks off August 11th, and all eyes will be on how this squad performs before any major shake-ups go down.

Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev has officially parted ways from Natus Vincere “NAVI,” the Ukrainian group that helped define his era, after NINE memorable years together. Widely regarded as the Counter Strike GOAT, s1mple now embarks on a comeback journey few saw coming, joining BC.Game, a crypto casino-backed team ranked 67th in the world.

One of esport’s most legendary runs comes to an end with this surprising decision. In his stint with NAVI, S1mple established himself as the face of CS:GO by winning three HLTV #1 Player of the Year titles, more than 20 MVP awards, and a Major championship in 2021.

The Fall from the Throne

s1mple had not been a regular starter for NAVI since late 2023. He has been benched or on loan for the majority of the last two years, including his most recent stay with FaZe Clan at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025. He showed fans why he’s still one of the best AWPers in the game despite some rust.

But FaZe chose not to retain him permanently, instead bringing back broky. After the Major, NAVI confirmed they received multiple transfer offers for s1mple, all of which were presented to him for review. The legend made his decision.
