Psyonix, the San Diego video game developer, announced today that Rocket League Season 10 begins on March 9, 2023 AEDT.

The new Rocket League season will feature a new Rocket Pass including the Volkswagen Golf II GTI, Arena variant, and more.

Season 10’s Rocket Pass features the Volkswagen Golf II GTI, an iconic fast driving hatchback. Players who get Rocket Pass Premium will immediately unlock the in-game Volkswagen Golf GTI (Octane hitbox), and have the chance to unlock an upgraded Volkswagen Golf GTI RLE as they level up in the Rocket Pass.

Other highlights of Rocket League Season 10 will include:

• New Arena Variant – In Season 10 players can explore the new Deadeye Canyon (Oasis) variant.
• Average Wait Time Counter – An Average Wait Time counter for Online Playlists will be added with the game update ahead of the Season launch. Players will now see an estimated wait time while waiting to find an Online match, replacing the current Playlist Population (Good, Great, Amazing) display.
• New In-Game Event – A new in-game Limited Time Event will take place later this season with a car-focused spin. More details will be revealed next Month.
• Season Rewards and More – Season 9 Competitive Rewards will be distributed shortly after Season 10 begins. The Season also introduces new tranquil Competitive Tournament rewards.

Rocket League Season 10 will be live on March 9, 2023 at 3am AEDT following a game update on March 8 at 11am AEDT.

Let’sPlay.Live, Australasia’s premier esports tournament platform and broadcaster, are excited to announce the LPL Pro Rocket League Oceanic Championship!

The tournament, sponsored by Psyonix, serves as the official pathway for Oceanic players into Season 8 Rocket League World Championship. A prize pool of $50,000 USD is available for top-placing teams, as well as $5,500 USD in player accolades to recognise outstanding players across the season.

Open Qualifiers will run over two days: 14th and 15th September 2019 to determine the current best six teams in the region. These six teams will join the remaining two auto-qualified Oceanic teams from Rocket League’s previous Season 7 World Championship. Seven weeks of round-robin league play every Sunday will result in a live Regional Playoff at LPL Studios in Auckland on November 17th, to determine the Oceanic Champion.

Our champion and runner-up team will head to the Season 8 Rocket League World Championship between December 13th to 15th 2019 to represent the OCE region on the global stage! 

Oceanic players currently residing in New Zealand, Australia, South-East Asia and the Pacific Islands who are over 15 years of age are eligible to form a team and enter the Open Qualifiers.

Psyonix, independent video game developer and publisher, and Monstercat, the leading independent record label in the Dance music scene, have teamed up once again to release four new music playlists in Rocket League in 2018.

Following the success of last year’s Rocket League x Monstercat Vol. 1 playlist, Psyonix and Monstercat will launch the Rocket League x Monstercat Vol. 2 playlist in the Spring Feature Update, followed by three additional playlists throughout the year. All of the playlists will be shorter, EP length releases, to provide new, diverse music all year long.

Monstercat began the year by unveiling two new brands to distinguish the different styles of music produced under their label – ‘Instinct’ and ‘Uncaged’ – and the Rocket League playlists will follow suit, alternating between both styles throughout the year. Additionally, new in-game Monstercat-themed Flags will be added alongside the launch of each playlist. 

More information such as featured tracks, artists, and playlist availability will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Psyonix, independent video game developer and publisher, and Hot Wheels, revealed to us here at STG a new toy set coming this fall called Hot Wheels Rocket League RC Rivals Set.

The set will feature bluetooth-connected Octane and Dominus Battle-Cars that players will control using smart devices to truly bring Rocket League to life at home.

In addition to the toy set launching later this year, Psyonix and Hot Wheels will also introduce new Hot Wheels DLC into Rocket League following the success of the initial Hot Wheels content introduced in game in 2017.

“We’re thrilled to further our partnership with Hot Wheels and bring Rocket League to life with this upcoming toy set,” said Jeremy Dunham, Vice President, Publishing at Psyonix. “But that’s just the beginning of what we have planned. Independent video game developer and publisher, Psyonix, revealed to us here at STG the Nintendo exclusive Battle-Cars coming to Rocket League also showcased in a new and tasty trailer (above).

Available as special unlockables when Rocket League launches on Nintendo Switch in Holiday 2017, the first Battle-Cars named Mario NSR and Luigi NSR are based on the iconic Nintendo characters. Whether or not players use the Mario or Luigi NSR will depend on which team colour they select before the match; Mario for the Orange team and Luigi for the Blue team.

The second exclusive Battle-Car is Samus’ Gunship based on the protagonist of the beloved Metroid franchise. Samus’ Gunship also has two different variations based upon what team color a player chooses, and are styled after different Varia Suits.

Both cars also have specialized boosts, called “Super Star” for the Mario and Luigi NSR and “Wave Beam” for Samus’ Gunship. The Nintendo Battle-Cars and other Nintendo Switch additions, including local wireless multiplayer and Mario and Luigi Toppers, will be available when Rocket League releases shortly.

Independent video game developer and publisher, Psyonix, announced today that the sports-action hit, Rocket League, will arrive on the Nintendo Switch™ console this Holiday season.

Revealed during the Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017, Rocket League on Nintendo Switch will include the same features, upgrades and content that millions of players worldwide have come to know and love on other platforms, plus several exclusives available only to Nintendo Switch owners. Exclusive Battle-Cars and Customization items will also be available, including Mario and Luigi hat toppers to decorate your car, with additional details to be announced later this year.

Rocket League will support all of the various play modes on Nintendo Switch, including TV mode, Tabletop mode, Handheld mode, both Online and Local Multiplayer, and be available for 1-8 players. It will also launch with Cross-Network support for players to compete against opponents on other available platforms. Additional details on the Nintendo Switch version will be announced in the coming months.

Rocket League is a high-powered hybrid of arcade soccer and driving with rewarding physics-based gameplay, and will be celebrating its 2nd Anniversary this July 2017.

Boasting a community of more than 32 million players, Rocket League is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC, Mac, and SteamOS via Steam, with the Nintendo Switch version to launch during the holiday period (US) 2017.

Rocket League is the most entertaining game I’ve played in years. In combining two otherwise tame elements, football and cars, Rocket League has managed to create an utterly chaotic and addicting experience.

The gameplay puts me in the mind of Twisted Metal, if Twisted Metal was based around playing football rather than blowing things up. Suitably Sweet Tooth, the most iconic Twisted Metal character, is an unlockable car in the PS4 game.

Each match takes place in a cage with a giant football. As you may have guessed, each team must try and hit the ball into the opponents net. Teams consist of anywhere between one and four players depending on the type of match you choose.

Playing a game of football with a car is more difficult than you may expect. With the direction you are able to move being severely restricted, doing a basic task such as hitting the ball is a lot harder. This made the game so much more unpredictable and comical.

Adding an extra layer of control and hilarity to the game is the jump button. This theoretically allows you to have more control of where you hit the ball as well as allowing you to try and pull of cool moves like heading the ball and bicycle kicks. Quite often though it just led to situations where cars go up to head the ball but miss. Seeing 3 or 4 players all go up yet all miss was a lot more entertaining than it probably should be.

The game also features a boost system to allow you to get a bit of extra speed. Boost can be refilled by running over numerous locations on the field. It can also be used to ram other cars to potentially blow them up resulting in them being respawned.

The game features a very well executed and detailed customisation system. This ranges from choosing the type of car to choosing decorative antennas. New vehicles and items are unlocked after each match. The sheer number of different pieces ensured that no two players looked alike.

The most fun component of the game is the online.

Playing with other people, even strangers, just generally makes the game more enjoyable. My biggest worry with this, along with any other online games, is the longevity of the online community. Even within the first week, I encountered a couple of lengthy matchmaking times.

The offline portion of the game manages to stand up on its own. You have two options at your disposal, play random matches or play a season. Even though the season mode was very simplistic, I actually enjoyed it.

Another neat feature of the game is split-screen, which you can play on all the modes, both online and offline. I was initially skeptical about how a restricted field of view would go on an already difficult game however I soon became adjusted to it and it turned out to be a while lot of fun.

While it would have been nice to have more game modes to choose from, the quality and volume of content already on offer is already more than generous for the low price point.

Rocket League has managed to master the lost art of making games fun. Despite being simplistic, every part of the game feels complete and every feature well implemented.
