<p>OPPO head back to Reno.</p>
<p>2020 has been a dark year with unprecedented events, despite that the evolution of smartphones and mobile photography has powered ahead at great speed.</p>
<p>OPPO overly impressed with the earlier released <a href="https://www.shanethegamer.com/oppo-find-x2-pro-5g-smartphone-review/">Find X2 Pro</a> and recently has just released their <em>Reno4</em> series.</p>
<p>There are two versions, the Pro and their mid-range quad-lens. Both are 5G.</p>
<p>STG received their mid-range device &#8211; the <em>OPPO</em> <em>Reno4</em> after a big launch event.</p>
<p>The model that we received was the very beautiful Galactic Blue (there&#8217;s also a Black model).</p>
<p><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-48212" src="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1932.jpg?x59030" alt="OPPO Reno4" width="1920" height="1024" srcset="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1932.jpg 1920w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1932-300x160.jpg 300w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1932-1024x546.jpg 1024w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1932-768x410.jpg 768w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1932-1536x819.jpg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></p>
<p>One thing I must say about OPPO is that they really do encase their smartphones elegantly.</p>
<p>Powered by Qualcomm SM7125 Snapdragon 720G coupled with 8GB RAM and a 128GB internal storage is all ample enough for whatever you&#8217;d use the <em>Reno4</em> for.</p>
<p>The internal storage is expandable via a microSD.</p>
<p>I was able to multi-task effectively without any lag and their own proprietary ColorOS 7.2 is super intuitive without bloatware, lightweight and overlaid on top of Android 10.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-48209" src="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1929.jpg?x59030" alt="OPPO Reno4" width="1920" height="1925" srcset="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1929.jpg 1920w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1929-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1929-1021x1024.jpg 1021w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1929-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1929-768x770.jpg 768w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1929-1532x1536.jpg 1532w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_1929-125x125.jpg 125w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></p>
<p>OPPO include a built-in app, Game Space. I covered Game Space in previous OPPO smartphone reviews, but essentially what this app does is enable to you add your mobile games collection in to a library, turn off all notifications for some serious game-time and over-clock the phone for maximum output.</p>
<p>Testing out the <em>OPPO</em> <em>Reno4</em> with some of the present heavy hitters; Call of Duty Mobile, PUBG and Fortnite the device performed flawlessly, to the likes of any higher priced flagship.</p>
<p>Whatsmore the  4015 mAh battery was hardly dented from a full charge after a serious Call of Duty Mobile two hour session on Competition Mode in the Game Space app.</p>
<p>If anything it shaved off around 10%.</p>
<div id="attachment_48214" style="width: 1930px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-48214" class="size-full wp-image-48214" src="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG20201026160338.jpg?x59030" alt="OPPO Reno4 - Macro" width="1920" height="1440" srcset="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG20201026160338.jpg 1920w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG20201026160338-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG20201026160338-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG20201026160338-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG20201026160338-1536x1152.jpg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /><p id="caption-attachment-48214" class="wp-caption-text">OPPO Reno4 &#8211; Macro</p></div>
<p>This puts the <em>OPPO</em> <em>Reno4</em> up there with the more expensive competitors and makes it the ideal smartphone for mobile eSports.</p>
<p>The included 30 watt charger will boost you from zero to flat in as little as 10 minutes or under.</p>
<p>As we have seen with previous OPPO phones, the Chinese tech company are heavy hitters when it comes to mobile photography.</p>
<p>First up is the whopping 32MP selfie camera &#8211; a dual lens laser cut in to the super vivid OLED 6.4 inch screen (not a waterfall screen though).</p>
<p>Capable of videoing at a resolution of 1080p @ 30fps. Ideal for vloggers.</p>
<div id="attachment_48213" style="width: 1930px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-48213" class="size-full wp-image-48213" src="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG20201026160416.jpg?x59030" alt="OPPO Reno4 - 10x Zoom" width="1920" height="1440" srcset="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG20201026160416.jpg 1920w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG20201026160416-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG20201026160416-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG20201026160416-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG20201026160416-1536x1152.jpg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /><p id="caption-attachment-48213" class="wp-caption-text">OPPO Reno4 &#8211; 10x Zoom</p></div>
<p>The rear quad lens camera offers up a total of 48MP wide, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro and a 2MP depth. A grand total of 62MP.</p>
<p>Bear in mind that this is not the Pro &#8211; the camera hardware is currently unrivaled in any mid-range at the time of writing.</p>
<p>OPPO are pretty much the only smartphone manufacturer that have added the macro functionality in to their devices so you can get crispy clear snaps ultra close.</p>
<p>A 10x zoom and a 30x digital zoom are on offer &#8211; and while the 10x is superb, the 30x adds alot of granular noise to photos.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-48208" src="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno-Night-Zoom.jpg?x59030" alt="OPPO Reno4 Night Zoom" width="1920" height="910" srcset="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno-Night-Zoom.jpg 1920w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno-Night-Zoom-300x142.jpg 300w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno-Night-Zoom-1024x485.jpg 1024w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno-Night-Zoom-768x364.jpg 768w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno-Night-Zoom-1536x728.jpg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></p>
<p>OPPO have been one of the champions for low-light. Their night mode in their mobile cameras uses wizardry pulling in non-existent light to ensure even the darkest of moon-less nights produces a pic detailed enough to see clearly.</p>
<p>In the <em>Reno4</em> this functions well, but does not exceed expectations as the Find X2 Pro did.</p>
<p>Without using Night Mode you&#8217;re not going to capture a thing.</p>
<p>This said, normal light and daylight photography is short of incredible.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-48207" src="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno-Night-Mode.jpg?x59030" alt="OPPO Reno4 Night Mode" width="1920" height="910" srcset="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno-Night-Mode.jpg 1920w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno-Night-Mode-300x142.jpg 300w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno-Night-Mode-1024x485.jpg 1024w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno-Night-Mode-768x364.jpg 768w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno-Night-Mode-1536x728.jpg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></p>
<p>Given the <em>Reno4</em>&#8216;s price point of just under $1K NZD you&#8217;re getting more than what you pay for, if not for the quad camera then for the functionality of a gaming and multi-tasking capabilities.</p>
<p>OPPO also teamed up with local creators for some exclusive artistic and one-of-a-kind <em>Reno4</em> phone cases that I fully recommend you get your hands on.</p>
<p><em>OPPO</em> <em>Reno4</em> &#8211; the smarts, the cameras and a battery that&#8217;s going to see you right for almost a week (depending on use).</p>

<p>At a launch event in Auckland, New Zealand Thursday night, OPPO unveiled its latest 5G smartphones set to hit stores across New Zealand on 20th October 2020 &#8211; the Reno4 5G Series.</p>
<p>Famed for its technological innovations and unique design, the latest iterations of the Reno Series stay true to its trend-setting ethos with three new 5G ready devices: the Reno4 Pro 5G, the Reno4 5G and the Reno4 Z 5G.</p>
<p>Continuing its mission to make premium smartphone experiences more accessible for New Zealanders, the Reno4 Series profiles a collection of quality 5G ready devices to suit any budget. The hero of the range, the Reno4 Pro 5G, steps it up a notch with flagship-like video and camera capability and a top-end viewing experience.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-48068" src="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno4-Black-Front45left-RGB-scaled.jpg?x59030" alt="OPPO Reno4" width="1378" height="2560" srcset="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno4-Black-Front45left-RGB-scaled.jpg 1378w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno4-Black-Front45left-RGB-161x300.jpg 161w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno4-Black-Front45left-RGB-551x1024.jpg 551w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno4-Black-Front45left-RGB-768x1427.jpg 768w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno4-Black-Front45left-RGB-827x1536.jpg 827w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/OPPO-Reno4-Black-Front45left-RGB-1102x2048.jpg 1102w" sizes="(max-width: 1378px) 100vw, 1378px" /></p>
<p>The other models, the Reno4 5G and the Reno4 Z 5G carry their weight respectively with hot, in-demand features including expert camera lenses and high-end displays. Together, the series delivers a powerful 5G experience and sets a new standard for low-light mobile photo and videography for Kiwis looking to up their game.</p>
<p>The Reno4 Pro 5G and Reno4 5G share some features such as a Triple Camera System and the Sony IMX586 Sensor, with a 48MP Wide Angle Lens and a 32MP front selfie camera. Both devices also introduce the new Ultra Night Video and sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G and 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 Flash Charge. Additionally, the Reno4 Pro 5G features the Sony IMX708 12MP Ultra Night Wide Angle Video Lens, clearing a 120° super wide field of view to capture wide angle shots with far more detail.</p>
<p>The Reno4 Z 5G keeps things wallet-friendly with a rear Quad Camera setup including a 48MP Main Lens + 8MP Wide Angle and a 16MP + 2MP front selfie camera, a 120Hz LCD display, and 18W fast charge, offering a whole lot more for less.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-48070" src="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4-Pro_Product-images_blue_back-scaled.jpg?x59030" alt="Reno4 Pro" width="1360" height="2560" srcset="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4-Pro_Product-images_blue_back-scaled.jpg 1360w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4-Pro_Product-images_blue_back-159x300.jpg 159w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4-Pro_Product-images_blue_back-544x1024.jpg 544w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4-Pro_Product-images_blue_back-768x1446.jpg 768w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4-Pro_Product-images_blue_back-816x1536.jpg 816w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4-Pro_Product-images_blue_back-1088x2048.jpg 1088w" sizes="(max-width: 1360px) 100vw, 1360px" /></p>
<p>OPPO New Zealand Managing Director Morgan Halim says: “With state-of-the-art technology and impeccable design, the latest Reno Series continues to redefine what’s possible, offering Kiwis premium experiences for less.</p>
<p>“The Reno4 Series is welcomed off the back of a successful launch of our first 5G devices earlier this year, demonstrating our continued commitment ensuring all customers are future ready with access to 5G options.</p>
<p>“At OPPO, the customer is at the centre of everything we do and if 2020 has shown us anything, it’s that we’re relying on our smartphones more than ever, so we’re pleased to continue providing an exceptional smartphone experience,” added Halim.</p>
<p>The boundaries of smartphone photography and videography are endless with the Reno4 Series perfecting low light mobile video and stills. Ultra Night Video and Ultra Steady Video 3.0 shoots smooth and quality video content in a variety of settings including low light conditions.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-48069" src="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4_Pro_Product-images_front.jpg?x59030" alt="Reno4 Pro" width="1920" height="1805" srcset="https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4_Pro_Product-images_front.jpg 1920w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4_Pro_Product-images_front-300x282.jpg 300w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4_Pro_Product-images_front-1024x963.jpg 1024w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4_Pro_Product-images_front-768x722.jpg 768w, https://www.shanethegamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Reno4_Pro_Product-images_front-1536x1444.jpg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></p>
<p>The hero OPPO Reno4 Pro 5G rear Triple Camera set up combines a 48MP High Definition main camera + 12MP Ultra Wide Angle lens + 13MP Telephoto lens, and a laser detection auto-focus lens. It also has a 1/2.43&#8221; sensor with a single pixel size of up to 1.4μm and supports four-in-one pixels, operating at a higher exposure with greater low-light sensitivity. Alternatively, the Reno4 5G’s Tri Camera rear setup uses a 48MP Wide Angle Lens + 8MP Ultra Wide Angle Lens + 2MP Mono Lens.</p>
<p>The Reno4 Z 5G features a Quad Camera rear set up of 48MP Main Lens, + 8MP Wide-Angle Lens + 2MP Vintage Portrait Monochrome Lens + 2MP B&amp;W Portrait Monochrome Lens. In the way of front cameras, the Reno4 Pro 5G and Reno4 5G lead with a 32MP Front Selfie Camera, whilst the Reno4 Z 5G has a 16MP Selfie Camera + 2MP Bokeh Camera.</p>
<p>Ultra Steady Video 3.0 is built in to rear and front cameras in the Reno4 Series, with three core elements:</p>
<p><strong>Ultra Steady Video:</strong> OIS/EIS in the main camera for smooth and steady video in everyday situations.<br />

<p>For the aspiring filmmakers out there, Cinematic Mode on the Reno4 5G brings professional videography elements to the palm of your hand, switching to 21:9 landscape mode by default and giving a range of options for better control, such as exposure value (EV), white balance (WB), ISO and more.<br />
Distinctive design</p>
<p>The Reno4 5G Series is the first range of smartphones to feature the new Reno Glow design texture. Crafted from more than 1 million solid diamond-shaped crystal faces that are densely distributed on the back of the device, the design reflects a diamond-like shine. The unique design demands to stand out and makes the Reno Glow cover completely fingerprint-free and scratch-resistant, compared to ordinary AG glass.</p>
<p>The Reno4 Pro 5G sports a 6.5” OLED, 3D curved screen and weighs just 172g, paving the way for a new era of ultra slim 5G devices. In turn, the Reno4 5G runs with a 6.4” AMOLED FHD+ display, a 7.8mm body and the Reno4 Z 5G offers a 6.5” FHD+LCD screen, in a 8.1mm body. Additionally, the brand new ColorOS 7.2 offers a smoother user experience for those on the Reno4 Pro 5G and Reno4 5G.</p>
<p>OPPO Reno4 5G Series is equipped with 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charging offering 60% charge in just 15 minutes.</p>
<p>OPPO Reno4 5G Series optimises power-saving with its Intelligent Power Optimisation feature. For example, by analysing a user’s sleeping schedule, the Reno4 5G Series optimises power consumption by up to 10% at night by entering into a Super Nighttime Standby mode.</p>
<p>The Reno4 Pro 5G and Reno4 5G are configured with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G integrated 5G chipset. The Reno4 Pro 5G boasts 12GB RAM + 256GB ROM, whereas the Reno4 5G and Reno4 Z 5G sport 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM.</p>
<p>The OPPO Reno4 Z 5G is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 800 processor integrated with 5G capability, which is an attractive entry device to the 5G era.</p>
