JBL, known for excellent audio products and a legend in the business, spins things up with their Spinner BT Bluetooth turntable.

As vinyl makes a huge comeback for a new generation, JBL have jumped on it with a superior kit.

A mix of modern and retro feels, the JBL Spinner BT relies on the JBL app (Android and iOS) to set up your wireless connection to a Bluetooth speaker.

For this review and to keep the retro vibe real, I paired up with the JBL Authentics 300 portable Bluetooth speaker.

I have reviewed this series previously, here, and honestly, the Authentics range is my absolute fav portable speaker. It has the gold and black finish, appearance of the 1970s with a boom audio loud enough for any environment.

The JBL Authentics Bluetooth Speaker range takes you back to the age of Jive, and is also a smart speaker, able to pair up with Google or Alexa from any Bluetooth device.

Once connected you can mix it up with the Spinner BT which is built with AptX-HD encoding to maximise your personal record collection.

There is provision for long or short play records.

With the tonearm and platter being made of aluminum, it is not like the record player your parent’s had in their day. It’s light weight and if you’re an inspiring vinyl DJ the top cover is removable.

When you first open the box of one of these, do expect some assembly, and if you’re planning on traveling with the JBL Spinner BT, it can come apart as well. But note that this is not a portable turntable it does need AC power to operate.

If you have an existing amp and speaker set up at yours, the JBL Spinner BT has the old school (yet reliable) RCA ports.

Either start your own vinyl collection, or raid your parents audio cabinet to get yourself in to a present day retro sphere and have a more intimately emotional experience with your music, with the very excellent JBL Spinner BT.

Samsung’s pioneering Bluetooth ear buds have certainly evolved from their first consumer released Icon X.

We have had the small round shaped buds, through to the weird ‘Beans’ and now Samsung have gone more mainstream with their new Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro.

Retaining true wireless mixed with HD quality audio Samsung took a more conventional design and added even more features for your wellbeing.

First up to connect the Galaxy Buds3 Pro you’ll need the Galaxy Wear app. This is available on both Android and iOS, and you do not need a Samsung phone to get the most out of these buds.

Once synced up you can expect to have some crystal clear audio pumping in to your ears, with noise cancelation and Voice Aware.

Handsfree is brilliant as the Buds3 Pro successfully block out any environmental noise.

Voice Aware is exactly its namesake, rock out while holding a convo in person. The Buds3 Pro will prioritise voice over music or media.

The Galaxy Buds3 Pro come with lights on both stems of either buds, called ‘Blade Lighting’. This is an indicator light for Voice Aware, charging and more. It’s not a light effect that stays on.

Samsung has added siren awareness even if you have the Active Noise Cancelation on, when out and about with your tunes dialed up to max volume, you’re not going to get knocked down by a speeding emergency vehicle. This is also a feature to be used in office too. If you’re using the Buds3 Pro at work and the fire alarm goes off, you’re sure going to hear it.

Touch control on the Galaxy Buds3 Pro is similar but different to what we have seen in prior models.

Swipe up or down the stem to control volume. Pinch to pause or play, or answer a call.

Each bud has a 24 bit codec for Ultra High Definition and a new 2-way speaker system that separates differing notes or instruments if listening to music.

The Buds3 Pro actually do split audio up extremely well. There’s a definite separation from higher notes through to the rumbling of the bass when streaming music.

Mobile gaming and movie watching was on par with having audio through a multi-channel soundbar set up.

The Galaxy Buds3 Pro have got it when it comes to superior personal audio.

If you are using these on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, you’ll get the additional ‘feature’ of 360 surround which utilises head-tracking. But I say ‘feature’ loosely.

It only works if your phone is unlocked and at times the head-tracked audio gets stuck in one position. Something that since Samsung introduced a few years back, has never quite got right (or allowed it on other Android devices).

The Galaxy Buds3 Pro take Galaxy AI to another level as they will tweak the audio according to your fit, environment and media you are listening to.

The Buds3 Pro are also super comfortable for long periods of use.

Battery wise, you can expect to get around 6 hours if you’re using ANC (Active Noise Cancelation) or with ANC off you’ll get an extra 1 hour. My advice, go hard at full volume with ANC on, it doesn’t make a lot of difference in battery life.

The Galaxy Buds3 Pro are wireless chargeable and the sleek but retro-looking case will give around four full charges.

The Galaxy Buds3 Pro are a change from what we are used to from Samsung, but it is a change for the better. For most it will be an easier fit and wear, they are more intuitive and smart, but best of all is the audio experience you’re in for with a set of these.

JBL is at the top when it comes to audio production.

From large sound stages, recording booths, to your home and on-the-go, only JBL sound the way they do.

They also bring us busy outdoors (and indoors) people functions that we never knew we needed, such as a Smart Charging Case for their earbuds.

As we saw with last years Tour Pro 2 TWS, JBL have now released the Live Flex 3.

The Smart Case comes with the same functionality as the Tour Pro 2, where you can tweak your audio settings, control music and volume as well as customize the lock screen.

You can also set up your smart phone’s notifications to come up on the case screen. This is a bit hit and miss though.

The buds themselves are super comfy for long wearing periods and put out an astounding tub-thumping mix of highs and lows, with a rumble for that bassline.

However, they are prone to slipping out of your ear due to having no silicone tips.

Side touch functionality is still there, to take a call or control your music or media, and the Live Flex 3 are also a bit prone to the occasional Bluetooth drops as their Tour Pro 2 also suffers from.

But the JBL Live Flex 3 will see you right for that long commute, flight and literally all-day.

A whopping 50 hour battery life from full charge (or around 10 hours on a 15 – 20 minute charge up) means you are not going to have to charge these up every few hours.

I’ve had this review pair for a bit over one week and they are still going strong after one full charge when I first received them.

The JBL Live Flex 3 are the buds to have in your bag or pocket, and take with you, for reliability.

If you’re a fitness fanatic or someone that moves around a lot, they may not be the best due to their ability to fall out.

At home, work or that long haul flight, you can’t go wrong. You can put your phone away and pump up the jam on your fav playlists from the Smart Case.

Being a full sized, over-the-head set the Tune 770NC has been built for long periods of wear.

Removing the bulk has kept these wireless headphones super light-weight and the cushioned earpads don’t tend to sweat up over long periods of wear.

From Noise Cancelation through the preset EQ. Pre Bass is my always my fav setting and JBL know how to do the rumble right.

Now it is the Noise Cancelation that is this set of headphone’s namesake and once you’ve started to use them, you’ll immediately know why.

Absolutely second to none for this feature – the Tune 770NC uses smarts to smash out any noise clutter to near 100%, even in extremely sound heavy environments.

Wearing the Tune 770NC in a busy, road work, construction littered CBD it was just me and my playlist. Infact, at one instance I had to walk past a chap slicing up a road with a jackhammer. I didn’t hear it (but felt the road shaking for sure).

The JBL Tune 770NC also has on-board controls, you you don’t need to pull your phone out to control your audio playback as well as built in mics for hands-free, which I’ll add here uses VoiceAware, with intention of filtering out any environmental audio interference.

Being wireless, yes you are at the mercy of battery life. But there’s no worry here. JBL have built the Tune 770NC to go the distance with 70 hours from a full charge.

When I first received the review unit I gave them a good charge up. That was a couple of weeks back and still they are sitting at 54& after two weeks use (average 5 – 6 hours per day, 5 days a week).

And while all of us are currently watching our pockets and spending habits, the Tune 770NC under-cuts any rival at under two hundred dollars.

That’s some killer audio that’s going to last as long as you can for a worth-it and cheaper-than-expected price tag.

Zone out and tune in for hours, days, maybe weeks (depending on usage) with a top tier audio experience on JBL’s Tune 770NC headphones while on the go.

The wireless buds with an innovative difference.

JBL’s Tour Pro 2 TWS are Bluetooth paired ear buds that come with a smart charging case.

The buds themselves are a super snug fit and pack a total of 10 hours hours of ear bud life from a full charge. The case itself will see you right for an extra three full charges at 30 hours (this does vary).

If you use ANC (Active Noise Canceling) this does reduce the lifespan of both the case and ear buds by a few hours.

A quick 10 – 15 minute charge up will net you around 4 hours, and they are wireless chargeable too.

Having two 10mm drivers and three mics per bud (six in total) these small but mighty inner ear boom boxes really hit the right note and absolutely are the best bluetooth inner ear audio you can get at the time of writing.

JBL has always taken their stuff seriously, but with the JBL Tour Pro 2 TWS they’ve outdone themselves. On either side of the buds you have touch controls for music and hands free calling.

And while the HQ audio, high notes and deep rumble of bass, is super pleasing, as is the crystal clarity of voice calls, they do suffer from intermittent bluetooth connectivity drops.

And it happens often on both iOS and Android smart devices.

This said if using at home the connection is more stable than out in the wild. So my guess here is that the Tour Pro 2 TWS is super sensitive to interference.

The ANC is perfect and if you’re wanting to rock out while ordering a coffee or even having a convo, you can. The voice detection mode is on point.

Now for the difference factor, which is also the most strikingly obvious.

The JBL Tour Pro 2 TWS has a functional 1.45 inch touch screen at its front and this enables you to skip, play and pause your tracks. You can also tweak almost all audio settings, such as ANC, Spatial Audio, EQ and more without needing to get your phone out.

The JBL Tour Pro 2 TWS pairs it’s smart case settings to the JBL app, and while I do recommend getting the JBL app it can also work just as effectively without.

The smart case does have a slide lock to prevent accidental bumps and screen touches and after doing an update you can personalize the lock screen image.

The update  for me was a no go though. Sadly did not work on multiple tries with the update failing every time. It is also this update that improves the bluetooth connectivity.

I’d been eagerly awaiting the release of the JBL Tour Pro 2 TWS since it was first announced last year, and placing the connection drops aside they are exactly the innovative difference that I was expecting. What was more surprising was the beefed up super HD quality of the audio they can produce.

If you’re looking for something a bit different, that has a price tag a lot lower than it should be and ear buds that will make your music streams sound the way they are meant to the JBL Tour Pro 2 TWS are the go to.

There’s nothing out there like them or can come close to the superior inner ear audio you’ll experience.

Skullcandy snip the cables and go wireless with their latest and greatest, not too mention funky PLYR gaming headset.

The full sized headphones come with a killer sound EQ and spatial enhancements built-in.

Sure, it will depend on the audio source as to what output you receive, but if you have games that effectively use ‘3D spatial’, like on PlayStation 5, you’ll feel that HQ virtual audio-scape booming of explosions, whizzing of bullets and hear that sneaky enemy trying to flank you.

In the box you’ll get a USB charge cable and an old school 3.5mm cable.

The battery will see you right for up to 24 hours non stop gaming, however the best bit here is that Skullcandy’s PLYR have been built to work with any console or device.

Pair up via bluetooth to your PC, Mac, PS4 or PS5, Switch and mobile. You can also dual pair. Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S need to be wired though.

If the game’s getting good and you’re low on juice, plug in the USB cable, or that’s where the 3.5mm comes in handy (but you won’t likely get the same quality audio).

If you’re not a chatty gamer, Skullcandy have made the boom mic removable from the PLYR or you can simply mute with a red LED light indicating that you’ve gone silent.

This said, the PLYR has a secondary mic on the headset itself, so if you simply want to use the PLYR to rock out with on the go on your mobile, you’ll be able to use handsfree.

I tried this and it was okay. The on-board mic worked well, but when a bit windy or in a stupidly noisy environment like the CBD noise pollution did filter in.

The PLYR itself is super light, and has memory foam ear cups that prevent sweat and dust and can be a comfy wear for extended periods. There’s also audio controls on the headset.

Battery life on the unit that I reviewed was on the mark. While I did not game for 24 hours straight, I did use as my primary headset for a couple of weeks.

I managed to squeeze 8 days of roughly 4 hours gaming per day from a full charge. That’s slightly over the factory listed length of battery life.
