Steelseries have won awards with their PC gamer gear, and with examples of like their newly released Rival 3 mouse I can see why.

The matte black finished glowing base peripheral is built of both comfort and strategic accuracy with its built in TrueMove Core optical sensor at an impressive 6,500 CPI.

The Rival 3 has six buttons – your usual left and right and a scroll wheel, then a small one placed between the two, then two more stealthily lined to the left upper side as quick actions. All are of course configurable and the Rival 3 has an on-board memory which will retain your customization.

The RGB can also be changed within three differing zones to heighten your gaming or for your own preference.

Each switch on the Rival 3 has a rating of 60M clicks and man this small but powerful mouse is definitely built for speed weighing in at 300 IPS / 35G.

Expertly engineered to deliver best in class performance across all aperture settings, the new FE 24mm F1.4 GM (model SEL24F14GM) utilises Sony’s specialist advanced optical technologies to satisfy the needs of the most demanding photographers. It features a compact and lightweight design with a filter diameter of φ67mm and measures just 75.4mm x 92.4mm, weighing a mere 445g. Furthermore, the FE 24mm F1.4 GM includes a number of professional controls aiding ease of operation for both stills and movie shooting. An aperture ring allows direct, intuitive aperture control whilst an aperture click switch makes it possible to enable or disable click stops as required. The focus ring features Linear Response MF for fine, responsive manual focus control, giving the user the control immediacy needed for fast, accurate manual focusing. The focus hold button is customisable and a focus mode switch makes it possible to quickly select auto or manual focus to match changing shooting conditions.

From Asia to downunder, E-Blue, manufaturers of low cost premium PC gaming gear cover all of the bases.

Previously I have reviewed two of their newest entrants in to the esports, PC gaming realm, so to go full circle I’l cover of their FPS Gaming Mouse.

The Auroza model resonates with similarities to their EKM757 mechanical keyboard and EMP013 wireless charging RGB mousepad that I have already reviewed.

There is no fuss with the Auroza. It’s plug and play and off you go – no additional software required.

This is due the settings for your astounding 16.8 million colour effects / RGB lighting and multi-button customization being within the mouse itself via the OMRON micro switch

With 6 actual DPI settings at 8200 DPI, each are accessed at the push of the top button by the scrolling wheel you can set the speed and response on the fly and in-game.

The 8200 DPI is a five buttoned corded mouse again, you can opt to assign keys to your game on the fly programming them directly on the mouse without needing to pause and go into any Menu settings. And it is absolutely on mark. There is no lag, full responsiveness to make it a worthy weapon in your fight.

Apparently designed for FPS titles, I can see the 8200 DPI being used for any game including RPG.

And at well under $100 NZD it blows away any expectations.

Hyperkin have released a whole swag of retro peripherals and even consoles over the years.

From multi-cartridge based home systems such as the Retron 5 through to accessories for smartphones to turn your device in to a Gameboy.

Their latest offering is the reinmagined original Xbox controller, called the Duke.

Named after the nickname that the chunky controller was given by gamers when the Xbox Clasic released way back in Novembr 2001.

The Duke was almost like holding a fat dinner plate with buttons all over it, more buttons than you ever needed.

Despite its size and weight the Duke became a memorable favourite with Xbox Classic owners. Hyperkin realised this and after a couple of years in the planning, they have re-invented the Duke for Xbox One.

Play Distribution sent over a test model for us to try out.

First thing you notice is it’s size. I found myself reminiscing instantly – but at the same time thinking, was the original Xbox Classic controller really this big?

It’s huge, for a controller.

The Hyperkin Duke has moved some of the buttons around from the original but the main ones, A, B, X and Y remain in the same place.

Modernised, of course, for the Xbox One, the center ‘Home’ button is a screen.

When the Home screen button is pushed in, it takes you to your Xbox One Dashboard on your console. But the coolest part is the screen displays the original Xbox load up screen when you first power it on, or when you access your Dashboard.

Th Hyperkin Duke is not a wireless controller, but does come with a USB 2.0 to micro USB cable of a pleasing length that should accommodate most living rooms or games den.

Being a native Xbox One controller there are no issues at all with using it in replace of your standard one.

I was curious as to whether Windows 10 would recognise the Hyperkin Duke as a wired controller. So on my Asus Zenbook 3 I plugged it to see what would happen.

Sure enough Windows informed me I had plugged in a gaming controller. Thank you Windows. It actually went further than that and listed it as an Xbox One controller. So there you go.

The Hyperkin Duke – mega sized and mega fun to have and a blast from the past made new for the current Xbox.
