At MWC 2024, Lenovo unveiled its latest portfolio of purpose-built AI devices, software, and showcased two proof-of-concepts devices that challenge the traditional PC and smartphone form factors.

The company also revealed the future of hybrid AI fuelling multi-device, software, and service offerings for more personalisation, collaboration and efficiency.

Introducing Lenovo’s latest groundbreaking proof-of-concept, the Lenovo ThinkBook Transparent Display Laptop Concept revolutionises the interaction and creation experience with its remarkable 17.3-inch Micro-LED transparent display. With a borderless screen, transparent keyboard area, and a seemingly floating footpad design, it effortlessly exudes a sense of high-tech simplicity, elevating the user’s overall experience.

The brilliance of this laptop lies in its intelligent integration of the virtual and real. Through the power of Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC), the transparent screen opens new avenues of work collaboration and efficiency by enabling the interaction with physical objects and overlaying digital information to create unique user generated content. Smart Connect unlocks cross-device synergies to maximise productivity, sharing device capabilities and data management and proving that the sum is larger than its parts. With Smart Connect, users can switch tasks between a PC, phone, and tablet while maintaining an uninterrupted flow, enjoy hassle-free and secure file-sharing, access mobile apps on a PC, and even manage phone notifications with ease.

Whether it is working, creating, and gaming on a PC, communicating and consuming content on a smartphone, or taking everything on-the-go with a tablet, switching from device to device and sharing content across ecosystems is now possible with just a swipe. At Mobile World Congress 2022, OPPO announced two breakthroughs in high-speed flash charging: 150W SUPERVOOC with Battery Health Engine (BHE) and 240W SUPERVOOC flash charge technology.

OPPO has integrated its self-developed BHE within the ultra-fast 150W SUPERVOOC flash charge, allowing the battery to maintain 80% of its original capacity after as many as 1,600 charge cycles, double the current industry standard, thus providing extremely fast charging in addition to the battery’s health protection.

240W SUPERVOOC flash charge technology marks the latest technological breakthrough in the mobile phone industry. Charging a 4,500mAh battery from 1% to 100% in about 9 minutes, 240W SUPERVOOC kicks off a new era of safe and efficient flash charging.

Jeff Zhang, Chief Charging Technology Scientist at OPPO, said, “As charging science continues to develop at an ever-increasing pace, users’ expectations are responding accordingly. Since the launch of VOOC flash charge in 2014, OPPO has prioritized the overall charging experience while leading the development of flash charge technologies. We will continue to push the limits of high-power flash charge technologies, actively tackling emerging issues such as the deterioration of battery health, and providing users with safe, efficient, smart, and fast charging solutions that go beyond speed.”

Evolving from the leading 125W SUPERVOOC flash charge technology, 150W SUPERVOOC flash charge with BHE uses direct charging technology with two charge pumps which can support up to 20V/7.5A charging.

In addition, the adapter for 150W SUPERVOOC with BHE leverages gallium nitride (GaN) to reduce the size of the adapter to nearly the same size as the previous generation 65W SUPERVOOC adapter, measuring 58 x 57 x 30mm, and weighing around 172g.

To improve all-round charging experience, 150W SUPERVOOC flash charge features the Battery Health Engine, which is powered by OPPO’s customized battery management chip and includes two key technologies: Smart Battery Health Algorithm and Battery Healing Technology. Together, they improve battery health, safety, and performance by optimizing the hardware and software.

Smart Battery Health Algorithm can track real-time electric potential across the negative electrodes inside the battery. It dynamically adjusts the charging currency within a reasonable range, effectively minimizing the occurrence of dead lithium while maintaining the maximum charging current. This helps ensure prolonged battery lifespan and faster charging speeds.

Battery Healing Technology optimizes battery life from the inner system of the battery. By improving the electrolyte formula, the electrodes are continuously repaired during the battery’s charge and discharge cycles, forming a more stable and durable solid electrolyte interface (SEI) that always stays in a perfect state in real-time. This helps in reducing the wear and tear of the positive and negative electrodes of the battery, therefore, enhancing battery performance and extending battery lifespan.

BHE will be integrated into most mid-to-high-end OPPO and OnePlus phones in the future, bringing safety, efficiency, and durability to more users. 150W SUPERVOOC flash charge with BHE will debut on a OnePlus smartphone in the second quarter of this year.

Due to the growing demand for high efficiency charging solutions in the era of 5G intelligent connectivity, OPPO has further pushed the limits of high-power flash charge and launched 240W SUPERVOOC. This new technology can charge a 4500mAh battery to 100% in about 9 minutes.

240W SUPERVOOC is designed with 24V/10A technology on the Type-C interface. It boasts three charge pumps and the power supplied to the handsets can be converted to 10V/24A. It conforms to the existing device specifications and has been tested in terms of heat dissipation, guaranteeing optimal efficiency and enhanced safety. Furthermore, the battery’s leading discharge rating allows the hardware to support a maximum of 240W.

240W SUPERVOOC delivers a safe and seamless charging experience while also pushing the boundaries of charging speed. By taking a holistic approach to the safety of the adapter, charging cable and the handset, OPPO minimizes potential safety hazards and risks, providing an efficient and secure charging solution:

• 240W SUPERVOOC adopts five safety protection measures as well as a specially customized intelligent control chip that controls the voltage, current, and temperature to deliver a safe charging solution.
• A customized battery safety monitoring chip monitors whether the battery of the mobile phone is damaged by external forces when in use.
• Temperature protection has been enhanced via 13 temperature sensors installed in the phone, reducing the chance of overheating and avoiding abnormalities.

Last week, OPPO announced their new flagship Find X5 series will be available for order in New Zealand later in March 2022.

With the support of enhanced 80W SUPERVOOC flash-charging technology, the OPPO Find X5 Pro can be charged from close to empty to 50 per cent in just 12 minutes, and with 50W AIRVOOC, it powers up to 100 per cent wirelessly in just 47 minutes.

In comparison, the Find X3 Pro supported 65W SUPERVOOC and 30W AIRVOOC flash-charging technology. OPPO now continues to expand its high-powered flash charging technology, setting new records for mobile phone charging.

HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, today announces the Nokia 9 PureView, featuring the world’s first five camera array with ZEISS Optics to put next generation computational imaging technology into the hands of photography enthusiasts. Every picture taken with the Nokia 9 PureView is HDR. The Nokia 9 PureView features the world’s first five camera array system with ZEISS Optics. It has two colour sensors for accurate, vibrant colour images and three monochromatic sensors which give sharpness and detail. Every shot taken by the Nokia 9 PureView uses all five cameras to capture at least 60MP of imaging data. To process and fuse the images, Nokia 9 PureView has maximised the heterogenous computing architecture of the Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile platform assigning tasks across ISP, DSP, GPU and CPU. Featuring a dedicated imaging co-processor that individually adjusts exposure and white balance on each camera across the scene, the Nokia 9 PureView gives you a glimpse into the future of smartphone photography.

The Nokia 9 PureView will be coming soon to Spark NZ, Skinny NZ and Harvey Norman in New Zealand.

OPPO today hosted its first European Innovation Event in Barcelona, Spain, showcasing a range of new mobile innovations and technologies for 2019.

At the Innovation Event, OPPO showcased the world’s first 10x lossless zoom camera. The breakthrough technology represents another industry first from OPPO, giving users the opportunity to take professional style photographs, without fear of loss of quality when zooming.

10x lossless zoom is a new technology created with industry-leading camera specifications including a triple-lens camera structure consisting of a telephoto lens, ultra-wide-angle lens, and main camera. The GSMA today reported that more than 107,000 visitors from 205 countries and territories attended the 2018 Mobile World Congress, the mobile industry’s premier event.

Over 55 per cent of this year’s Mobile World Congress attendees held senior-level positions, including more than 7,700 CEOs, up from more than 6,100 CEOs in 2017. Approximately 24 per cent of attendees were female, an increase from 23 per cent at Mobile World Congress 2017; additionally, 28 per cent of speakers in the conference programme were female, compared with 21 per cent in 2017.
