Minecraft Live 2025 has wrapped up, and Mojang came loaded with announcements that will keep players busy well into next year. From a release date for The Copper Age update to the reveal of Mounts of Mayhem, plus fresh add-ons and even a Dragon Ball Z crossover, there’s a lot for fans to get excited about.

The Copper Age arrives on 30 September

The biggest headline from the show was confirmation that The Copper Age officially drops on 30 September. This update expands copper far beyond its current uses, giving players access to new weapons, tools, armour, and blocks.

A new friendly mob, the copper golem, is also joining the game. These little helpers can tidy up bases by sorting items into chests, and when fully oxidised they’ll turn into statues with special poses. Other additions include shelves that can swap items in and out of your hotbar, oxidising lightning rods, copper lanterns and torches, and even copper armour for both players and horses.

Much of this content has been tested through Snapshots and Previews, but now every Minecraft player will have access to it at launch.

Mounts of Mayhem teased for holiday 2025

Mojang also lifted the curtain on Minecraft’s fourth game drop of the year, Mounts of Mayhem, coming this holiday season. This update will introduce the nautilus, a rideable underwater creature that grants faster swimming and even pauses your breath meter while you explore the depths. You’ll also be able to equip the nautilus with armour in copper, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite.

A new weapon, the spear, is being added too. It’s a tiered weapon with unique mechanics, including charge attacks and damage that scales with movement speed. Mojang hopes it will shake up Minecraft combat, especially when paired with mounts.

Other features include zombie horses making their long-awaited debut in Survival mode, plus the terrifying zombie nautilus ridden by drowned mobs.

Friendly Fishing brings real-world impact

In collaboration with Conservation International, Mojang has released a new Marketplace add-on called Friendly Fishing. The pack lets players catch a huge variety of fish, from sharks to smaller species, while also raising awareness about plastic waste in oceans. Proceeds from the add-on, along with an extra $100,000 from Microsoft, will be donated to Conservation International to support environmental conservation projects.

Dragon Ball Z x Minecraft

For anime fans, Minecraft is crossing over with Dragon Ball Z later this year. The DLC promises iconic content from the legendary series, from Spirit Bombs to Kamehamehas. While players wait, a free Super Saiyan Hair item is available now in the Minecraft Marketplace until 4 November.

Between The Copper Age update in September, Mounts of Mayhem in the holidays, and collaborations like Friendly Fishing and Dragon Ball Z, Mojang is showing no signs of slowing down. With Minecraft still thriving in its 16th year, fans can look forward to plenty of new ways to build, explore, and play before 2025 is done.
