Blast back to the 90’s and the 8 BIT era while joining Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil on a quest to find lost Reptar Coins.

Yep, Rugrats are back, in retro inspired side scroll platformer released by Limited Run Games.

Developers, The Mix Games and Wallride have recreated the look and feel of the Nickelodeon cartoon series, and for those that either remember or are still fans of the show, there are a lot of easter eggs.

The babies adventure begins as they see a commercial for a Reptar video game. Knowing that they do not have money to buy the game, they set out in their own imagined version.

While Rugrats: Adventure in Gameland may look like child’s play, it’s not.

For a retro-esque side scroller, it has an unusual difficulty spike at times, where even seasoned gamers are going to feel the burn of repeating areas over and over.

There’s boss fights, cookies and baby bottles to be found, puzzles and all manner of baddies to be taken out on your quest throughout the game.

During play you can swap from Tommy, Phil, Lil and Chuckie as playable characters. Each baby has their own skills, sort of.

And if you really want the retro flavour, there’s an 8 BIT mode.

You can also get a mate to join you.

Rugrats was a fav cartoon of mine as a kid (and still is!) and this iconically cartoon styled game, while super frustrating in parts, is a lot of fun to play through.

I recommend Rugrats: Adventure in Gameland if you’re a fan of the original series, or if you want to introduce your kids to the golden era of animation shows.

Publisher of retro-and-modern games, Ziggurat Interactive, announced a summer 2021 release for their remastered, high definition edition of BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites.

In development by WayForward, the game’s original creators, this updated version of the hit 2D hack ‘n’ slash platformer will feature all-new voice acting performed by the original BloodRayne cast — Laura Bailey (Rayne) and Troy Baker (Kagan).

“It has been a phenomenal experience working with WayForward to revisit and revamp BloodRayne Betrayal for a new generation of Rayne fans,” said Michael Devine, SVP of Business Development. “We were very fortunate to work with Laura Bailey and Troy Baker to lend their voices to their iconic characters.”

Released in 2011, the original BloodRayne Betrayal was met with passionate reviews for its gorgeous graphics and punishing difficulty. This iteration in the series changed things up by switching from a 3D format to a fast-paced, 2D side-scroller. As Rayne, players will battle through 15 levels as they wend their way through a hidden castle where a sinister gathering is taking place. It’s Rayne’s last job, will she “clean house” or find herself six feet under?

Originally released without any spoken dialog, the new BloodRayne Betrayal will feature AAA-quality voice acting by Laura Bailey and Troy Baker reprising their roles as Rayne and Kagan. Patrick Seitz and Todd Haberkorn are also featured as voice actors in the game, bringing more of its characters to life.

With cleaned-up visuals, squashed bugs, and support for HD displays (up to 4K) are just a few new details added to the game that help Rayne strut her stuff on modern PCs and consoles and improved support for haptic features on modern console controllers.

Fresh Bites will also receive an exclusive physical edition release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch through Limited Run Games.
