The Counter-Strike 2 scene is heating up again, and this time, the spotlight shifts to India. Skyesports has confirmed that Valve has reviewed and approved their compliance submission for the Chennai Esports Global Championship (CEGC) 2025, locking in the event’s schedule and regional qualifiers. With a $50,000 prize pool on the line, some of the biggest names in European Counter-Strike are preparing to compete for a spot in the Chennai LAN.

And yes, there’s a real chance that Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev could make his long-awaited debut on Indian soil.

Europe Qualifiers: The Battle for Chennai

The Europe Qualifiers for the CEGC 2025 will run from October 21–23, bringing together some of the top-tier CS2 squads across the region. Teams in the mix include BC.Game, FUT Esports, Eternal Fire, BIG, GENONE, QUAZAR, X44, AAB Esports, Mousquetaires, Premedsant, AM Gaming, NOVAQ, Washington, Jumbo, ForevRegless, and Illwill.

The top two teams will earn their ticket to the Chennai LAN finals, taking place from November 7–9 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Tamil Nadu, India.

Skyesports’ announcement confirmed that Valve has allowed some flexibility around registration timelines but otherwise greenlit the original event schedule.

“We appreciate everyone’s understanding and continued support,” said the tournament organisers, noting that the show will go on exactly as planned.

$50,000 Prize Pool and Global Competition

The Chennai Esports Global Championship will feature the best from Europe, SEA, and India, each sending their top two teams to the finals. The prize pool breakdown includes:

• 🥈 $15,000 for second
• 🥉 $4,000 for third
• ⭐ $1,000 MVP award

With international representation and a hefty payout, this event aims to elevate India’s place in the global esports spotlight.

S1mple’s Indian Debut? Fans Are Hyped

The internet has been buzzing ever since BC.Game’s inclusion in the European qualifiers was confirmed. Fans couldn’t contain their excitement at the thought of s1mple, one of Counter-Strike’s greatest players, potentially competing in India for the first time.

Enriched with exotic instrumentation over his trademark thumping kick drum, hypnotic bassline and crisp percussion, So Bazaar has been stirring up Otm’s dancefloors all over LA following its debut on the Pinkturban Peace Float at the 12th annual Bangladesh Independence Day Parade. Serving up a tastefully techy remix of So Bazaar is UK producer Bump Ugly, who’s recently been making waves on Dirtybird. The exquisite Arabic Square Kufic artwork for the single comes from Egyptian calligrapher Mahmoud Gafar, making the Otm Shank single a delectable and exciting blend of east meets west.

Otm offers a unique blend of Indian Classical and bass-heavy dance music, embellished with warm, exotic and quirky Eastern instrumentation. This is a genre he has come to term “Indian Techno-Funk”. Critics take note, as Otm Shank is one name you’ll be seeing a lot more often around these parts.

Who is Otm Shank?

Some say he had an illustrious career as a Bollywood pop singer before appearing in Hollywood. Others say that he has always been here.

What we do know is that in 2015 Otm Shank (pronounced “Oh-tum Shank”) launched his Los-Angeles-based World-inspired electronic music record label, Pinkturban, with his debut dance-floor monster single, “Ravish”. Since then, Otm’s tracks have been supported by a diverse range of international DJs and radio stations, including BBC 6 Music, BBC Asian Network, Sirius XM, 5FM, and George FM, and remixed by the likes of ZDS (Dirtybird, Toolroom), Jey Kurmis (Hot Creations), Bakongo (Roska Kick & Snares), and Ahadadream (Boiler Room).

Otm offers a unique blend of Indian Classical and bass-heavy dance music, embellished with warm, exotic and quirky Eastern instrumentation, in a genre he calls “Indian Techno-Funk”. He draws much of his inspiration from a devoted study of the Indian hand drum, tabla, with his guru, Debasish Chaudhuri. Having just come out of an abusive and pre-arranged marriage Neerja has a bright future ahead of her.

At just 22 years old, her bubbly, warm personality shines throughout the entire film and becomes infectious to the audience.

Neerja was working on Pan Am 73, leaving from Karachi and having just arrived from Mumbai. The flight is hijacked before the plane can take off.

Through Neerja’s bravery, intelligence and intuition, she does all that she can to save her passengers from the erratic and nervous machine gun wielding hijackers who are intent on killing off passengers by their nationality as negotiations with Pakistani Officials experience delays.

It is ultimately Neerja who right through to the intense and emotionally charging end retains as much stability as possible within the imprisoned aircraft that is sitting on the runway in darkness. Placing herself before her fellow Cabin Crew and the passengers.

Shedding the usual Bollywood motifs, Neerja has both a healthy mix of drama and action to satisfy any audience, even those that would stray away from a cliche Bollywood flick. While the movie is English subtitled with the entire dialogue being in Hindi, the pace and capturing of the film has you forget that you are reading subtitles as the events play out.
