The Honor of Kings World Cup 2026 has officially been revealed, and it is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious mobile esports events yet. Set to kick off on July 30 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the tournament will bring together the best teams in the world to compete for a massive US$3 million prize pool.

But what really sets this year apart is the format. For the first time, Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor will share the same competitive stage, creating a crossover event that blends both ecosystems into a single global competition.

A Cross-Title Format That Changes Everything

This year’s Honor of Kings World Cup introduces a new cross-title format that merges elements from both Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor.

Teams from both games will compete in the same tournament, with a special Esports World Cup patch adding Arena of Valor heroes into the mix. That means players will need to adapt quickly, not just to opponents, but to a broader pool of characters and strategies than ever before.

It is a significant shift from previous events, effectively uniting two of the biggest mobile MOBAs under one competitive banner.

20 Teams From Around The World Confirmed

A total of 20 teams will compete at the Honor of Kings World Cup 2026, with slots distributed across major regional leagues and qualifiers.

The lineup includes top-performing teams from leagues such as Indonesia Kings Laga, Philippine Kings League, MY Honor of Kings League, and the King Pro League in China. Additional representation comes from Brazil, India, and wider regions including Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

There are also invited teams from Arena of Valor competitions, including the RoV Pro League, Arena of Glory, and the Garena Challenger Series, further reinforcing the event’s cross-title approach.

This expanded regional representation reflects a clear push to make the tournament more globally inclusive compared to previous editions.

Full Tournament Schedule And Format

The Honor of Kings World Cup 2026 will run from July 30 through to August 8, structured across three main stages.

Play-In Stage

Eight teams will be split into two groups of four, competing in a best-of-three double elimination format using Global Ban and Pick rules. The top two teams from each group will advance.

Group Stage

Sixteen teams will then compete in four groups of four, again using a best-of-three double elimination format. Only the top two teams from each group will move on to the next stage.

Playoffs

The final eight teams will battle it out in a single elimination bracket. Matches will be best-of-seven, with the third-place match played as a best-of-five. The Global Ban and Pick system remains in play, alongside an Ultimate Battle format for added intensity.

A Growing Global Audience For Honor Of Kings Esports

The scale of this year’s tournament follows a major milestone for the franchise. In 2025, the combined monthly active users across Honor of Kings titles surpassed 260 million, highlighting just how large the player base has become.

Bringing Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor together in a single competition feels like a natural next step, especially as both titles continue to grow in different regions.

With new regions joining the competition and a format that encourages cross-game adaptation, the Honor of Kings World Cup 2026 is clearly aiming to push mobile esports onto an even bigger global stage.

What To Expect As The Event Approaches

With the event still a few months away, more details around participating teams, match schedules, and broadcasts are expected to roll out closer to July.

Given the scale of the prize pool and the experimental format, this is one tournament that both Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor fans will want to keep an eye on.

If the format lands well, it could set a new standard for how mobile esports events are structured in the future.

The move reflects Level Infinite’s continued push to elevate women’s esports within the Honor of Kings ecosystem, while aligning the tournament more closely with the game’s global competitive roadmap.

Honor Of Kings Women’s Series Launches In January 2026

The Honor of Kings Women’s Series will kick off early in the new year, with registrations opening from January 1 to January 15, 2026. Teams can sign up through the official Google Form provided by the organisers, which includes full details on eligibility and tournament format.

Following registration, the competition moves straight into online play, with the Group Stage scheduled from January 17 to January 30. All participating teams will be divided into eight groups of eight, competing in Best of One matches using a round robin format.

Each win in the Group Stage carries tangible rewards, with teams earning one point per victory and receiving $25 in prize money for every point secured.

Group Stage And Knockout Format Explained

Once the Group Stage concludes, the top teams from each group will advance to the Knockout Stage, which will take place offline from February 3 to February 7, 2026. This phase adopts a single elimination format across three days, with all matches played as Best of Three series.

To ensure a level playing field, the tournament organiser will provide accounts and mobile devices to all qualified teams. Additional prize incentives are also on offer, with every team that wins in the Quarter Finals receiving $100 in prize funds.

In total, KWS 3 will feature a combined prize pool of $10,000 in cash and tokens, further strengthening its position as one of the key women’s tournaments in the Honor of Kings esports calendar.

KWS Runs Alongside Honor Of Kings Invitational 2026

The Women’s Series will take place alongside Honor of Kings Invitational 2026 Season 4, commonly referred to as KIS 4. The event serves as a major pre season tournament and helps set the tone for the year ahead in competitive Honor of Kings.

KIS 4 will feature eight invited teams and organisations, including BOOM Esports, Nova Esports, Bigetron by Vitality, Blacklist International, Dominator Esports, Kagendra, Team HAQ, and one final slot yet to be revealed.

The tournament will be held offline at the GBK Basketball Hall in Jakarta, Indonesia, running from January 31 to February 8, 2026, placing it right alongside the later stages of the Women’s Series.

From Honor Of Queens To A Global Women’s Platform

The rebrand marks the end of the Honor of Queens name, which last appeared during the Honor of Kings International Championship from November 15 to November 30, 2025. That women’s only 5v5 tournament featured a prize pool of ₱320,000 and helped lay the groundwork for the expanded Women’s Series now launching in 2026.

By transitioning to the Honor of Kings Women’s Series branding, Level Infinite is signalling a stronger, more unified approach to women’s competition, with clearer integration into the wider Honor of Kings esports ecosystem.

With confirmed dates, prize money, and a direct link to one of the game’s biggest global events, KWS 2026 is shaping up to be a major step forward for women’s esports in Honor of Kings.

Announced by Honor of Kings Esports and publisher Level Infinite, the overhaul reshapes how regions compete internationally, while also tightening regulations around team composition and imports. According to the organisers, the goal is clear, to foster a more evenly matched landscape and give local talent a stronger platform on the professional stage.

A new global league takes centre stage

The headline change for 2026 is the introduction of the Honor of Kings Major League, commonly referred to as KML. This new cross regional competition merges three existing leagues, the Wildcard Kings Series, Major West League, and Major East League, into a single global league.

As a result, Level Infinite’s international ecosystem is streamlined into five core leagues for the 2026 season:

Honor of Kings Major League (KML)

Indonesia Kings League (IKL)

Philippines Kings League (PKL)

Malaysia Kings League (MKL)

Brazil league (CHOKBR)

This marks a shift from seven international leagues down to five, bringing teams from Asia, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East into a more unified competitive structure. Alongside this, professional teams from Macau and Hong Kong will return to the Chinese Mainland esports ecosystem.

Running in parallel to these international leagues will be the long standing Chinese franchised competition, the King Pro League, which remains exclusive to teams based in China.

Regional divisions restructured for imports

To support the new format, Honor of Kings is also restructuring its regional divisions for the purpose of defining resident and import players. From 2026 onwards, the ecosystem will operate across six regional divisions:

Americas, covering North America, South America, and Brazil

Europe, including West Europe, East Europe, and Türkiye

MEA, spanning the Middle East and Africa

Pacific, covering South Asia, South Korea, Japan, and Australia

Southeast Asia

Greater China, including the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Chinese Taipei

This restructuring plays a key role in how roster eligibility and import limits are applied across competitions.

Roster rules tightened for 2026

Alongside the league changes, Level Infinite has confirmed updated roster rules that will apply to all teams competing in the 2026 Honor of Kings esports season.

Teams must register a minimum of five players and can carry a maximum of seven on their active roster. Each team is allowed to sign up to one import player who is not a resident of the team’s home regional division.

There are also clear requirements around local representation. Every team must include at least two players who are residents of the country or territory the team represents. In addition, at least four players on the roster must be residents of the team’s wider regional division, including those counted under the country requirement.

Special restrictions apply to players from the Greater China division. Players holding nationality or citizenship from Greater China can only be classified as residents when competing within that same division. In all other regions, they will be treated as import players without exception, reflecting China’s long standing dominance in the competitive scene.

A focus on balance and local talent

According to Level Infinite, these changes are part of a broader vision for 2026 that prioritises long term growth over short term results. By reshaping leagues and limiting imports, the publisher aims to create closer competition between regions, while also opening more opportunities for domestic players to develop and shine.

With Honor of Kings continuing to post record viewership numbers and expand its presence outside China, the 2026 season is shaping up to be a defining moment for the game’s global esports ambitions.

Esports prize pools hit a new high in 2025

Esports prize money reached new territory in 2025, with more than $270 million awarded across competitive gaming worldwide. According to data compiled by Esports Charts, the total prize pool grew by around 15.5 percent compared to 2024, driven by heavier investment from publishers, tournament organisers, and global events like the Esports World Cup.

The dataset spans more than 10,500 tournaments across over 100 esports titles, covering events that concluded in 2025, even if they began earlier. From long-standing PC esports to booming mobile scenes, the year delivered one of the most diverse and lucrative competitive calendars the industry has ever seen.

Counter-Strike leads the way in 2025

Counter-Strike was the biggest winner of the year, finishing as the highest-earning esports title by total prize money. More than $32.2 million was awarded across CS tournaments in 2025, a massive 41.5 percent increase year over year.

That growth was fuelled by an expanded top-tier calendar, including new PGL events and the debut of the BLAST Bounty series. The Chinese Counter-Strike scene also made a strong comeback, highlighted by major events such as the Asian Champions League, CS Asia Championships 2025, and IEM Chengdu.

CS2 also dominated at the team level. Team Vitality stood out as one of the year’s top earners, collecting roughly $4 million in prize money while lifting trophies at several S-Tier events, including a Major victory in Budapest.

Dota 2 slips to second, but remains a giant

Dota 2 finished second in the 2025 rankings, with total prize money sitting at approximately $23.1 million. While that figure was largely unchanged from 2024, it marked a shift after Dota topped the standings last year.

The International 2025 remained the centrepiece of the season, accounting for around one-tenth of Dota 2’s annual prize pool. Beyond TI, prize money was spread across a packed calendar of million-dollar events such as PGL Wallachia, BLAST Slam, FISSURE PLAYGROUND, and DreamLeague.

That crowded schedule has created challenges for teams, with some forced to skip tournaments due to calendar overload, a growing issue as more organisers enter the ecosystem.

Honor of Kings holds strong in third place

For the second year running, Honor of Kings secured a spot in the top three. The TiMi Studio Group MOBA awarded $21.7 million in prize money across 2025, with nearly half coming from the King Pro League Grand Finals.

Unlike other titles, Honor of Kings operates within a tightly structured competitive system. As a result, total prize growth was limited to just 3.8 percent, with much of the increase influenced by currency fluctuations, as most prize pools are paid in Chinese yuan.

Fortnite and PUBG Mobile round out the top five

Fortnite climbed to fourth place in 2025, awarding $15.6 million in prize money, up 14.6 percent from the previous year. The boost came from changes to the competitive format, including the split of North America into NA West and NA Central, alongside new events like the FNCS 2025 Pro-Am.

PUBG Mobile followed closely in fifth with $15.3 million awarded. While that figure represented a slight year-over-year decline, the change was largely attributed to currency adjustments and a redistribution of prize pools across regions, particularly within the Chinese Peacekeeper Elite League.

League of Legends and Valorant see major growth

League of Legends recorded one of the biggest percentage jumps of any major esport. Total prize money rose to nearly $15 million, a 59 percent increase compared to 2024. Riot Games significantly boosted international events, with the Mid-Season Invitational jumping to a $2 million prize pool and Worlds increasing to $5 million. The addition of new events like First Stand and a larger Esports World Cup presence also played a key role.

Valorant climbed to seventh place with $11.2 million in prize money, up 23 percent year over year. The game’s inclusion in the Esports World Cup proved pivotal, with teams competing for more than $1.2 million in Riyadh, where Team Heretics claimed the title after defeating Fnatic.

Rocket League, Rainbow Six, and PUBG close out the top 10

Rocket League enjoyed a strong year, with prize money rising 45 percent to $9.7 million. Growth came from increased payouts at majors, Saudi eLeague events, and a near-doubling of prize money at the Esports World Cup. The introduction of RLCS 1v1 tournaments also added new earning opportunities.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege placed ninth with $9.4 million, a modest decline of 2.3 percent due to small changes in the seasonal format.

Rounding out the top 10 was PUBG: Battlegrounds, which awarded $7.8 million in 2025. The PUBG Nations Cup doubled its prize pool, and the year featured more A-Tier events, including two Twitch Rivals tournaments.

A Major Shift for One of SEA’s Most Iconic Teams

BOOM Esports has officially closed the book on its long running Dota 2 journey. After eight years of competing across Southeast Asia and the international stage, the Indonesian organisation confirmed on social media that it is exiting the professional Dota 2 scene and parting ways with its entire roster.

Today, we say farewell to our Dota 2 division.
A journey filled with passion, challenges, and memories we will always carry with us.

Thank you to every player who wore the BOOM jersey with pride. Thank you to the Hungry Beast for standing beside us through every high and every… pic.twitter.com/YNU5jAX1Cb

— BOOM Esports (@boomesportsid) December 8, 2025

The announcement marks the end of a legacy built on passion, regional pride, and a string of memorable tournament runs. While the team steps away from Valve’s iconic MOBA, BOOM reassures fans that its story in esports is far from over.

BOOM Reflects on Its Departure

In a heartfelt message posted to X, BOOM Esports thanked every player who ever wore the jersey and every supporter who stood by them through victories and defeats.

“Thank you to every player who wore the BOOM jersey with pride. Thank you to the Hungry Beast for standing beside us through every high and every low. This legacy will forever be part of who we are.”

Founder and CEO Gary Ongko Putera also shared a personal farewell, celebrating the team’s journey through two appearances at The International and years of competition.

He added that building BOOM Esports was one of his original goals, and that despite the division’s closure, friendships within the Dota community will continue. “On to the next chapter,” he wrote.

A History That Elevated Indonesian Esports

Originally known as BOOM ID, the organisation was instrumental in pushing Indonesian talent onto the global stage. Over the years, the team expanded to include stars from across Southeast Asia, cementing its position as one of the region’s most respected Dota 2 names.

Their most iconic run came at the GAMERS GALAXY Invitational Series in Dubai in 2022. BOOM stunned the competition by defeating heavyweights like Team Secret, Team Spirit, and Nigma Galaxy, before taking down Tundra Esports in the grand finals. That same Tundra roster would later go on to win The International 2022, making BOOM’s victory even more impressive in hindsight.

The team also notched strong results throughout 2022, including a top twelve finish at ESL One Stockholm and a top eight at the PGL Arlington Major.

A Turbulent 2025 and Declining Results

Despite their legacy, BOOM Esports had a difficult year in 2025. Though they qualified for The International 2025, they finished in 14th to 15th place, unable to regain their earlier form.

Their final appearance came during the Southeast Asian qualifiers for BLAST Slam V. The roster was promising on paper, led by superstar carry 23savage alongside sanctity, Jabz, Jhocam, and NARMAN. But results failed to improve, and the organisation eventually made the decision to step away from the esport entirely.

Where BOOM’s Players Have Landed

Following the disbandment, many players quickly found new homes. 23savage, Jabz, Jhocam, and NARMAN have joined the newly rebuilt Team Nemesis, which is preparing to compete in DreamLeague Season 27. sanctity remains a free agent for now, though he previously played under Natus Vincere.

The Organisation Moves Forward in Other Games

Although BOOM Esports is leaving Dota 2 behind, its presence in competitive gaming remains strong. The organisation continues to compete in Valorant, Honor of Kings, and PUBG Mobile.

Their Valorant journey included a rare promotion to VCT Pacific through Ascension 2024 after Bleed Esports’ disqualification. However, BOOM later failed to retain an International League spot and returned to the Challengers circuit.

Elsewhere, the organisation has seen rising success in mobile esports. BOOM’s Honor of Kings roster recently won the Philippines Kings League Spring 2025, marking its first major title in the mobile MOBA.

A Farewell, but Not a Goodbye

BOOM Esports’ exit from Dota 2 closes a significant chapter in Southeast Asian esports history. The organisation spent years shaping regional talent, producing memorable upsets, and inspiring a passionate fanbase known as the Hungry Beast.

While the Dota 2 era has ended, BOOM makes it clear that its wider esports ambitions are only growing. Fans can expect new adventures ahead as the organisation shifts its focus to other competitive titles.

Stay Hungry, Hungry Beast.

A Strong Finish for the 2025 Season

The Honor of Kings International Championship 2025 has wrapped up with an impressive new milestone, recording more than 650,000 peak viewers and setting the highest viewership for any Honor of Kings esports event held outside China this year. According to Esports Charts, the Grand Final alone reached a high of 694,424 viewers, giving the global scene a strong and confident close to the 2025 season.

The tournament brought together the world’s top Honor of Kings teams for a packed 110 hours of airtime, delivering a total watch time of 3.2 million hours across the event.

Nova Esports vs HomeBois BSE Takes the Spotlight

The Grand Final clash between Nova Esports and HomeBois BSE stood out as the most watched match of the competition. While the main event broke records, the remaining most viewed matches struggled to cross the 100,000 mark, showing a noticeable drop in consistency across the broader tournament.

Despite its peak success, this year’s Championship averaged 29,113 viewers, falling short of the 36,509 average recorded in 2024. The dip represents a 20 percent decline year on year, though the standout moments still kept the international community engaged.

English Broadcast Continues to Grow

Honor of Kings has been working hard to expand its Western audience through more accessible broadcasts and international storylines. That effort continued to pay off, with the English stream pulling in more than 210,000 peak viewers on its own.

This growing interest helped push the Championship past the previous international record, set earlier this year by the Honor of Kings World Cup 2025, which reached 653,309 peak viewers.

A Record Breaking Year for Honor of Kings Esports

The Championship marks another major achievement in what has been one of the scene’s biggest years to date. In November, the KPL Grand Finals in Beijing set a Guinness World Record for the largest live attendance at an esports match, drawing a massive crowd of 62,196 fans inside the Bird’s Nest stadium. Spectators watched as All Gamers secured a hard fought victory over Wolves Esports to become the region’s champions.

Momentum continued building into October, when Tencent unveiled its full Honor of Kings esports roadmap for 2026. The plan includes six cross regional events, two sets of regional leagues, and standalone competitions in key regions such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brazil. With more structure and more international exposure ahead, the game’s competitive future looks bigger than ever.

Looking Ahead to 2026

With record breaking viewership, global expansion and new competitive pathways on the way, Honor of Kings is setting itself up for an even stronger international year in 2026. If the momentum from this Championship is any indication, the game’s global esports footprint is only just getting started.

Guinness World Record officials were present to verify the milestone in person, confirming that Honor of Kings has now claimed a record once held by Pro Evolution Soccer during its UEFA EURO 2016 fan event in Paris.

A Massive Crowd and a Massive Prize Pool

The Grand Final wasn’t just about record-breaking numbers. It also featured one of the biggest prize pools in mobile esports history, ¥70 million RMB (about $982,000 USD). The champions walked away with ¥20 million ($280,000), while the FMVP (Finals Most Valuable Player) earned exclusive in-game cosmetics, celebrating their standout performance.

The sold-out crowd was no surprise. On October 30, Tencent revealed that all tickets were gone within just 12 seconds of going on sale. Prices ranged from ¥488 ($69) for the grandstand seats to ¥2,088 ($293) for premium inner field spots, proving that the hype around Honor of Kings shows no signs of slowing down.

The Bird’s Nest Becomes a Beacon of Esports

Originally built for the 2008 Olympic Games, the Bird’s Nest has a capacity of 80,000 and has hosted some of the most iconic sporting moments in Chinese history. In esports, it’s also remembered as the stage for the League of Legends 2017 World Championship Final, an event that drew around 40,000 fans and featured the legendary Elder Dragon cinematic moment.

However, due to the elongated stage design and massive screen setup used for Honor of Kings, only about 75% of the venue’s full capacity was utilised. Even so, Tencent and TiMi Studios managed to fill more than 60,000 seats, making it the largest dedicated esports audience ever assembled.

All.Gamers Go Back-to-Back

The Grand Final itself was just as monumental as the crowd that witnessed it. Defending champions All.Gamers once again lifted the trophy, defeating Wolves Esports with a 4–2 victory to claim back-to-back titles.

Earlier this year, All.Gamers also took home the Honor of Kings World Champion title at the Esports World Cup in Saudi Arabia, solidifying their dominance in the mobile MOBA scene. Their latest win, in front of tens of thousands of roaring fans, marks a new era for both the team and the game.

A Landmark Weekend for Chinese Esports

China’s esports scene was thriving on all fronts this weekend. Alongside the Honor of Kings World Championship, the country also hosted two more major tournaments: the League of Legends Worlds 2025 Grand Final and Intel Extreme Masters Chengdu for Counter-Strike 2.

This convergence of high-profile competitions highlighted China’s growing influence as a global hub for esports, where massive audiences and cutting-edge production value are quickly becoming the standard.

Setting a New Global Standard

By achieving an attendance of over 62,000 dedicated fans, Honor of Kings has cemented its place as a global powerhouse in competitive gaming. Unlike the previous PES record, which included spectators attending a football match broadcast, this new Guinness title represents a true esports audience, gathered solely to celebrate one of the world’s most popular mobile games.

From the Bird’s Nest to the world stage, Tencent and TiMi Studios have once again demonstrated that esports isn’t just a digital pastime, it’s a full-scale entertainment phenomenon capable of filling stadiums, breaking records, and captivating millions.

The Grand Final will take place on 8 November 2025 at 5:30 PM (GMT+8) inside the Beijing National Stadium, better known as the Bird’s Nest. With its massive 91,000-seat capacity, the venue will host one of the largest live esports audiences of the year.

A Stadium-Sized Spectacle

Beyond the championship clash itself, the KPL 2025 Grand Final is shaping up to be a full-scale entertainment event. Chinese music icons Han Hong and Zhou Shen are set to perform the official Honor of Kings 2025 theme song “神驰的属地” (Shén chí de shǔ dì), translated as The Realm of Spirit and Glory.

The fusion of high-stakes esports and live music performances cements KPL’s reputation as one of Asia’s biggest digital entertainment showcases. Fans worldwide can still join the excitement through the official Honor of Kings Esports YouTube channel, along with regional streaming platforms such as Rednote and DouYu.

AG Super Play Returns to the Grand Final

On the competitive side, AG Super Play has already secured its place in the Grand Final after dominating Weibo Gaming with a convincing 4–1 victory in the Upper Bracket Final.

Weibo Gaming still has a shot at redemption, set to face the winner between Dragon Ranger and Wolves in the Lower Bracket Final on 2 November 2025. The victor will earn the last remaining ticket to the championship stage, setting the scene for an epic showdown under the lights of the Bird’s Nest.

AG Super Play, as the reigning champion, will be fighting to defend its crown, but the competition is fierce. Each team in the top four has shown the skill and strategy to pull off a major upset, and with ¥70 million (around $9.8 million) in total prize money on the line, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Tickets Gone in Seconds

Tencent’s official ticketing platforms, including Tencent Sports and Damai.cn, were flooded the moment sales went live. Within 12 seconds, every ticket, from standard admission to VIP, was gone.

On secondary marketplaces, prices reportedly spiked up to five times their original value, showing just how intense the demand is. On Chinese social media, the hashtag #KPLFinalTickets trended nationwide as fans vented their frustration, joking that “it’s harder to get into KPL than a K-Pop concert.”

A Defining Moment for Chinese Esports

The 2025 King Pro League Grand Final is more than just another match, it’s a cultural milestone. Honor of Kings continues to dominate the mobile esports landscape, blending competition, entertainment, and community in a way few games have achieved.

As tens of thousands fill the Bird’s Nest and millions more tune in online, this year’s Grand Final is expected to set new records for live viewership and solidify Honor of Kings as China’s premier esports spectacle.

When the lights go up on 8 November, all eyes will be on Beijing, where history, and a new champion, will be made.
