FragPunk is getting a major update this week, with new modes, events, and Shard Cards rolling out on 25 September. The patch will go live at 10 AM (UTC+8) and servers are expected to be down for around three hours.

For those who haven’t jumped in yet, FragPunk is an online multiplayer tactical hero shooter where two teams of five players face off using unique characters known as Lancers. Matches typically revolve around planting or defusing a Converter, with players using weapons and Shard Cards to shift the balance of a round.

Invite Your Friends Grand Tournament

The headline addition this time is the Invite Your Friends Grand Tournament. This in-game event encourages players to team up, take on challenges, and climb the rankings for a shot at winning up to 7,500 limited-time FragPunk Coins. Those coins can be spent on shop items or used to unlock premium and ultimate Battle Passes.

It’s a solid incentive to bring friends back into the game and offers one of the more rewarding event payouts FragPunk has seen so far.

New Mode: Deck Gear Up

Another big addition is Deck Gear Up, a brand-new mode where players build decks around their playstyle. Gear Points earned during matches can then be used to activate cards or buy equipment. The mode plays out in a best-of-15 format with familiar win conditions: either plant and defuse the Converter or eliminate the enemy team. All Lancers are free to play in this mode, making it a great entry point for new players.

Outbreak Gets Mortal Bastions

Outbreak mode is also shaking things up with the arrival of Mortal Bastions. When survivor numbers fall below a certain threshold, players can spend Shard Points to transform into these enhanced units, giving them extra tools to fight back against the Parasites.

Shard Cards Vol. 3 and Balance Changes

On top of that, Shard Cards Vol. 3 is being added. Thirteen new cards are coming to Shard Clash and five to Chaos Clash, introducing everything from grenade conversion mechanics to abilities that reveal enemies with the final bullet in your mag.

The update also delivers a wide range of balance tweaks across weapons and Lancers, including nerfs to Aura’s healing speed, adjustments to Hurricane’s Branching Lightning, and reduced damage values for the Boom Broom.

This update brings both fresh content and competitive balance changes, but it’s the Invite Your Friends Grand Tournament that really stands out. With a huge chunk of limited-time coins up for grabs, it’s a smart way to keep players engaged and get more people playing together.
