Take charge of your health, wellbeing and fitness with Fitbit’s Charge 6.

The small and super light smartwatch utilizes the Fitbit app on Android or iOS to keep track of your daily activities and vitals.

Fitbit (now owned by Google) are absolutely the masters of health wearables, they’re the pioneers and have been doing them for years.

All of this knowledge and experience would mean that you’re going to get a fully accurate experience, right? Well, yes… and not always.

Firstly the watch itself.

It’s slim with a touch 0.86 x 0.58 inch face that nicely curves in to the very bright silicone strap.

To the left is one tactile button. If you’re not using ‘Always on’ for the screen, this button is essentially a wake up the screen. I hardly used it, as the screen will turn on when you raise your wrist.

As mentioned, you absolutely need the Fitbit app to not only connect the Fitbit Charge 6, but also to sync your data.

The Fitbit Charge 6 will keep an accurate track of your steps per day and you can set goals to try and beat. I don’t remember setting a goal in past Fitbit watches I have used and reviewed, but apparently I did – and I’ve never met them. So far.

There’s also a calorie burner, fitness coach, ECG, heart and stress monitor, skin temperature and way, way more.

You can set up alerts for irregular heart rhythm too.

If you’re new to the world of Fitbit, there will be some profile set up for you where you will need to enter in details about yourself, age, weight and height. This is ultimately so the tracker can ascertain vitals and fitness for your age and body type.

But according to my heart stats with the Fitbit Charge 6 my heart stops beating around midday each day. I’d always suspected it did.

The sleep tracker is mostly on point, although it did miss a few nights where it recorded zero sleep. And evidently I do not sleep enough (that’s actually true)

Notifications, are hit and miss. Better on Android (I mean it is Google to Google right?), on iOS you will generally only get SMS alerts, Android almost everything.

Being that the screen is teeny, it’s near to impossible to see any details of said notifications though. But you’ll get them.

An entire week (or more) will see the Fitbit Charge 6 being your health wrist buddy before needing a charge up. Charging time from near-to flat is a little painful. Around 3 hours.

If you forget to juice it up overnight you may want to replan that exercise you were just about to leave the house for.

I’m not using the ‘Always on’ screen, and so far a week and a half in and it’s still going strong with around 50% battery.

The Fitbit Charge 6 was a mixed bag of accuracy and not.

The app is excellent however. It takes you through your vitals and activities in to a granular micro level. There are some functions that you will need a Fitbit Premium sub for though.

From the watch face you can swipe left and right to get a quick snapshot and basic info.

If the Fitbit Charge 6 detects you’re on a walk, it will prompt you to record it. I did this a few times… it doesn’t stop recording when the walk is done though.

In all, the Fitbit Charge 6 is not bulky, a soft and light wear, always good to go and for the most part, keeps everything in check.

If you’re a fitness guru, or simply just want a smartwatch that’s not huge on your wrist and keeps things in check at a budget-friendly price point, the Fitbit Charge 6 will see you right. Mostly.

New Flips and new Folds as well as the killer Galaxy Buds2 Pro, its big things from Samsung as they also released an updated smart watch, the Galaxy Watch5 Pro.

Last year Samsung went back to the fan favourite twisty dial around the watch face, but this new iteration sees it gone again.

Instead the 45mm AMOLED touch screen is surrounded by an equally touchable frame, slide your finger around and it functions the same as the tactile dial.

Speaking of features, the Galaxy Watch5 Pro is bursting with them.

From the usual suspects of heart rate, sleeping routines and stress levels Samsung has also added Body Composition – keep an eye on your muscle, fat, skeletal mass and more to keep yourself as fit and healthy as possible.

Samsung have taken their workout regimes up a notch or three.

From the pre-programmed ones to routines you can create all on your own it will utilise GPS tracking so you can designate a run around your neighbourhood, or anywhere on your smartphone and sync that to your Galaxy Watch5 Pro which will give you turn by turn accuracy.

The Galaxy Watch5 Pro connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth and you’ll need use the Galaxy Wearable app to set it up.

The app enables you to see your stats in a near-to granular detail and offers up a wealth of customisation options including an extensive watch face library. This said it is simple enough to swap out your watch face from your wrist.

There are two tactile buttons to the right.

One will open up the Galaxy Watch5 Pro’s main menu and the second directs you to work out modes.

The Galaxy Watch5 Pro is built for real life with a super strong Sapphire face and titanium framing.

Water resistant, but not waterproof. So you wont be able to take a dip wearing the Galaxy Watch5 Pro but a jog in the rain, you should be fine.

Sensors for the Galaxy Watch5 Pro are all located on the wirelessly chargeable back.

Battery wise you’ll get a full day, sometimes a bit more with GPS on.

Generally the battery is designed to be an all day one, or roughly 8-ish hours from full to flat.

For me it’s been a mixed bag.

Some days coming up short before the end of a normal work day and others stretching near to a day and a half.

So clearly it will depend on use. The heavier days had involved taking calls from my wrist and using the Watch5 Pro to control media playback.

If you’re wanting to max out your battery life, turning GPS off sees a super long life of up to 80 hours, or 10 work days.

The Galaxy Watch5 Pro is a little bulkier and heavier than last years model, but still comfy for all day wear. The beefier bulk didn’t affect the wearability of the smartwatch on a day to day basis. The new magnetic clasp strap that Samsung has added to the Galaxy Watch5 Pro makes the wearable look rather classy for what is ultimately a sports watch.

Wearing the Galaxy Watch5 Pro every day for just a little over a week it was evident that it may be a little big for some folk. For me personally, the bigger the better.

There is a smaller model, the Galaxy Watch5, but if you’re wanting that larger display, more screen to reply to messages from your wrist and some epic fitness features you’re not going to go wrong with the Watch5 Pro.

Huawei continue to innovate, improve and keep in check our health and wellbeing with their wearables. An ultimate example of this is their new Watch D.

Huawei have released three smartwatches in one line up, the Band 7, Watch Fit 2 and this one.

All punching above their price tag and and offering up more than their competitors do, their Watch D is more of a health wearable than its siblings.

Connecting to either Android or iOS you’ll need to use the supplied QR code to get the latest Huawei Health app.

It’s within the app that you’ll see your health stats to an almost granular level and personalise with a watch face that suits you.

A mid-sized smartwatch the Watch D has a 1.67 inch AMOLED touch screen which to navigate around is the same as Huawei’s other smart wearables. Swipe left, right, up and down to get your vital stats, notifications, apps and more.

There’s two toggle buttons to the right – home menu and health.

Fitness routines, workouts with a personal coach, stress monitoring, heart rate, SpO2, Skin temperature and sleep monitoring are all there via Huawei’s own TruSense A.I. Whether you’re in to running, walking, cycling and more the Watch D has it all.

The Watch D is waterproof with a IP68 rating. So technically it can handle around 1 hour in fresh water and a depth of approximately 1 meter or less, but I wasn’t brave enough to give that a go and don’t recommend you try it. It will be fine for the odd splash, rain and as I accidentally did with the Band 7, the odd shower or two.

Asides from the usual health and fitness goodness that the Huawei smartwatches are known for the Watch D has one more bonus that no other watch has ever had.

The Watch D will monitor blood pressure.

It does this by way of an inflatable band. A press of a button inflates the band and the Watch D takes the measurements. The inflatable band will slowly deflate as the vitals are monitored – the same as going to get your blood pressure taken at the local docs.

When I first started wearing the Watch D this was admittedly a bit of a novelty. I would do the check several times a day, just to have the band inflate.

Thankfully my stats were normal at any given time of the day.

The Watch D’s battery should see you right for up to 7 days. Initially it didn’t survive a full week, but that was likely due to me playing with the inflatable band constantly. Don’t be me, don’t do this unless you actually want to check your blood pressure.

After a full charge up and refraining from inflating the band many, many times a day the Watch D is still going strong with 57% at the time of writing this review and and 5 days in.

Huawei have really put some love in to their wearables for 2022 and the Watch D is a shining example of that.

True, this model wont be for everyone – it is a smartwatch designed for those that may have existing or suspected blood pressure problems. This said, even if you don’t think you do, it pays to know before it’s too late.

Huawei’s Watch D is a med check up right there on your wrist. It notifies you if it thinks something is out of beat (pun not intended) all the while offering up the same smartwatch functionality that we are used to.

The Watch D is not only your health and fitness assistant, it’s more.

It’s thin, super light and will see you right for up to two weeks on a single charge. Huawei have released their Band 7 smartwatch.

An ultimate fitness and health tracker the Band 7 is smaller than its siblings with a 1.47 AMOLED touch screen (194 x 368 pixels) running their Harmony OS.

The Band 7 will connect via bluetooth to either your Android or iOS (Apple) smart phone.

As I’ve mentioned in prior Huawei smartwatch reviews as of late, there is a process to it. Use the QR code provided and follow the steps and in a few minutes you’ll be sorted.

To get the most out of the Band 7 you need to use the Huawei Health app.

It’s here that you can see your vitals, sleep records in more detail and add new watch faces.

To navigate your way around is similar to their other smartwatches. Swipe down from the top and you’ll get all of the settings.

Swipe up from the bottom gets you your notifications and a swipe from the left or the right you’ll see your apps running and your vital stats.

There’s a single toggle button to the right – this gets you in to the menu where you’ll find prepared workout routines, further health apps for you to use and more.

The Band 7 weighs a mere 16 grams without the strap, so it is a wear and forget, and yep you’ll feel like you don’t even have a watch on your wrist.

The Band 7 is water resistant up to 50 meters (fresh water), and there’s swimming routines included with a personal coach on the watch.

Which for me was lucky as I did forget I was wearing it and it has joined me in the shower a couple of times, and survived.

The Huawei Band 7 will actively monitor your SpO2, heart rate, stress, breathing and more, and will alert if it detects anything irregular.

It does this through Huawei’s own A.I. called TruSense. It will learn what is your norm and then notify you if something is amiss.

I’m a fan of the sleep monitoring.

This is something that I’ve found to not always be accurate on other smartwatches. But with Huawei’s latest wearables in the past 12 months the sleep tracker has been on point.

You’ll always get your notifications, quick reply to messages and the Band 7 features call and music controls.

The mentioned 2 week battery life is about right. Wearing the one that I received from Huawei lasted a week and a half from full charge first time round and currently is on the 2 week mark, but still has 36% battery at the time of writing this review.

At a price tag that knocks any of its competitors off the running track, the Band 7 is ideal for those in to fitness, or simply if you’re wanting to keep your health and wellbeing in-check and are not fond of having a bigger timepiece weighing your arm down.

The Huawei Band 7 is small but packed with so much it punches well beyond its weight, literally and makes it an ideal health, fitness and wellbeing best friend that’s always on and keeps you on track.

Huawei’s 2022 range of smartwatch, fitness and health trackers are now on offer with a model to suit pretty much everyone.

From the small to mid and larger sized, they are built to be tough while keeping your vitals in check.

Upping the stakes from last years Huawei Watch Fit smartwatch and fitness tracker they have this year released its second edition, the Huawei Watch Fit 2.

The all screen watch runs Huawei’s own operating system – HarmonyOS and comes in with a 1.74 inch full view display. That’s a smidgen bigger than last year’s model.

In the box comes two silicon straps (incase, like me, you have smaller wrists).

Swipe up from the bottom and you’ll see any notifications you’ve got. Swipe down from the top and there’s your watch’s settings. A swipe from the left gets you some basic info, like weather and a swipe from the right sees all of your important health stats to the likes of heart rate, steps and more. You can customise what you see and even transfer a few songs over to the Huawei Watch Fit 2.

Oddly, the Huawei Watch Fit 2 does seem to forget some notifications, and can alert you hours after the fact. I also missed almost all call alerts. Something that the GT 3 I previously reviewed never misses a beat with.

But hold up – I’m getting ahead of myself. First you need to connect the watch up.

Now there is a process to this and the first time I gave it a go on the Huawei Watch GT 3 I had problems on an Android based phone.

On the box and even on the face of the watch when you first begin setup there’s a QR code. Scan that to be taken to a download of Huawei’s App Gallery.

From there you’ll need to find, download, install and use the Huawei Health app (not the one on the Google Play store).

Once you’ve done all that – you’ll see the list of watches in the app. Select the one you have and it’s straight forward from there.

If you have a newer Huawei Watch already, then likely you’ve already been through this process and you’ll just need to open Huawei Health app and connect your watch.

The Health app doesn’t just facilitate the connection, it’s also where all of your stats are recorded to from your Huawei Watch Fit 2.

From sleeping patterns, health and also where you can customise your watch, watch faces and more.

The Huawei Watch Fit 2 also has differing workout modes.

There’s one tactile button to the right of the watch which takes you to the Menu. In the Fitness app you have Courses, Indoor and Outdoor run, Walking, Cycling, Swimming, Skipping and way more.

There’s an onboard personal coach that will assist you through differing workout modes.

If you’re a fitness guru then the Huawei Watch Fit 2 is your perfect companion. If you’re not, it will still award you for simply how many steps you take in a day.

The Huawei Watch Fit 2 has a built in mic and speaker for handsfree calling (bluetooth). With automatic SpO2 monitoring and waterproof up to 50 meters (not sea / salt water).

It’s so light you forget it’s there and with a 7 to 10 day battery life, you rarely need to take it off.

The unit that I was sent for this review has been lasting me 8 days consistently.

Being the mid sized sibling in the Huawei Watch series, for me it’s not too small, I prefer the bigger sized screens on my wrist, more screen, more to see, but this one is just right.

When compared to competitor models out there – the Huawei Watch Fit 2 gives you a lot more for a lot less of a price tag and is one of the most reliable smart watches you can have.

HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner supports the connection of heart rate belts to obtain richer and more professional running data. Moreover, the running data can be shared with third-party apps through the HUAWEI Health App, enabling data exchange, convenient data viewing, and an efficient workout.

The HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner will be used by select New Zealand runners, as part of a collaboration with Athletics New Zealand, the national governing body for athletics. As a World Athletics member, Athletics New Zealand is tasked with enhancing and promoting all aspects of athletics activity in New Zealand. From grass roots community participation to international high-performance competition, disciplines include track and field athletics, cross country running, mountain running, road running, race walking and trail running as well as associated programmes and development initiatives.

Drawing inspiration from the supercar’s air intake grille, HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner delivers a stylish design that represents speed and passion. Moreover, the hollowed-out watch lug increases the contact area with the air when running, so that it is sweat resistant and breathable, which results in a more comfortable wearing experience.

HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner adopts lightweight materials such as the high-strength polymer fibre body, which is light and comfortable. Also, it is matched with a ceramic ultra-light bezel and aerospace-grade titanium-alloy watch crown.

The weight of the entire watch body is as light as 38.5g, which means runners can barely notice it as they run. The antibacterial silicone watch strap that comes with the smartwatch is water-resistant, so runners don’t need to worry about sweat and dirt contacting the strap during training. The HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner comes with an exclusive data watch face that shows data including training load, RAI, recovery time and weather.

For most runners, how to quantify their running performance is a complicated process.

Based on HUAWEI TruSport, HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner provides Running Ability Index (RAI) to evaluate user’s running performance. Even if the user did not reach their limit, the system can calculate the running performance based on historical heart rate, pace, distance, frequency, and other multi-dimensional data, and measure the RAI to accurately classify the runners’ ability.

HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner is also equipped with an intelligent dynamic adjustment plan, which is centred around RAI and training load. In addition, professional data such as fatigue level, training index, aerobic/anaerobic training pressure are also shown to help runners analyse their own status and make reasonable plan adjustments to improve their results

Based on the professional fitness analysis data provided by the HUAWEI TruSport, Huawei developed the Individual Periodical Science Training Programme.

According to the user’s personal physical data and running history, combined with training goals and targets, users can customise running plans on the HUAWEI Health App. HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner records and analyses the user’s workout data, and intelligently identifies the basic period, lifting period, consolidation period, and reduction period according to the user’s current athletic ability level and goals, then adjusts the training intensity and gradually increases training volume to improve the user’s running ability. Through the humanised adjustment, users will be able to enjoy their training more.

HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner supports all-new HUAWEI TruSeen 5.0+, bringing a newly upgraded heart rate module, 8 PDs in a circular arrangement, enhanced dynamic heart rate monitoring, more signal input, and overall improved heart rate monitoring accuracy. HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner adopts an ergonomically designed rear watch case, with carefully polished curved glass, which fits the characteristics of the wrist.

The design is not only comfortable to wear, but also not easy to shake, effectively reducing the interference of external light and improving the quality of the heart rate signal. Between the PD, LED, and the bottom glass, is a shield of Fresnel film, which not only improves the aesthetics, but also provides a better condensing effect, so that more light will enter the dermis and obtain signals from the capillaries during the process, reducing the interference of light signals in the superficial layers of the epidermis.

Huawei designed a new multi-channel signal selection and fusion enhancement algorithm, enhancing the deep AI learning noise reduction algorithm.

In the development process of the new HUAWEI TruSeen 5.0+, Huawei was dedicated to delivering a more accurate heart rate monitoring experience. Thanks to the new PPG 5.0 module, the accuracy of heart rate monitoring is greatly improved compared to the previous Huawei watch generation.

The accuracy within 10 bpm in most scenarios can reach more than 97%, which is as accurate as a heart rate belt. The HUAWEI TruSeen 5.0+’s powerful anti-interference and noise reduction design now copes better with the motion noise caused by irregular movement and improves the accuracy of heart rate measurement when working out, including during HIIT, yoga, aerobics, skipping rope, etc.

HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner has great performance in a small watch body and features five major satellite systems: GPS + Beidou + GLONASS + Galileo + QZSS. Also, the HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner has a built-in Dual-Band Five-System GNSS positioning chip with a suspended hidden antenna, that hides the positioning antenna in the lugs made of polymer fibre material.

This reduces the interference of positioning signal caused by metal material. The innovative design improves the performance of the GPS antenna by 135% compared with previous iterations of GPS watches, which solves the pain points of balancing positioning accuracy and compact design, and further realises marathon track-level precise positioning without trajectory drift.

HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner inherits the powerful battery life of Huawei’s wearable family, delivering up to 14 days of battery life in the smart mode under typical usage scenarios and up to 8 days of long battery life in heavy usage scenarios. Together with the smart and humanised features, as well as health monitoring, it is every runner’s smart assistant on the wrist.

HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner has a built-in altitude barometer and a supporting compass feature. It also provides music playback with earphones or speakers and comes with a large amount of

storage space which can store up to 500 songs. Furthermore, the smartwatch supports all-day health monitoring, including heart rate monitoring and abnormal heart rate reminder. The number of third-party apps on the HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 has increased, covering daily life, travel, gaming, entertainment, work, fitness, and health, covering all aspects of young people’s scenarios.

The HUAWEI WATCH GT 3 will be available for pre-order from Thursday, 24 March 2022 and the products will be available in participating national retailers from Thursday, 31 March 2022.
