Dmytro “nifee” Tediashvili, formerly of Inner Circle Esports, has been hit with a four-year ban from all ESIC member events after an investigation found he deliberately engineered Molotov and incendiary deaths to manipulate proposition betting markets during ESL Pro League Season 22 in October 2025.

The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) confirmed the sanction, which runs from 21 October 2025 to 20 October 2029, covering participation in any capacity, whether as a player, coach, analyst, manager, or staff member. This wasn’t about throwing rounds or maps. nifee was manipulating isolated in-game incidents to rig specific betting outcomes, and that distinction matters.

What nifee Actually Did

According to ESIC’s investigation, conducted alongside data platform Runestone, nifee repeatedly died to Molotov and incendiary grenades in circumstances that had nothing to do with normal competitive play. These incidents lined up with unusual spikes in betting volume on proposition markets, which are markets that target specific in-game occurrences rather than who wins or loses.

The betting activity flagged by Runestone came from newly created accounts, dormant accounts, and high-value VIP accounts, all of which showed patterns well outside normal baselines for that type of market. Gameplay review backed it up, with analysts identifying repeated instances where nifee unnecessarily walked into fire damage without any competitive justification.

From Denial To Admission

nifee initially denied everything, including through his legal representative. However, following further engagement with ESIC, he eventually admitted to the conduct and cooperated with the broader investigation. That cooperation earned him a reduced sanction. ESIC noted that a five-year ban would have been the standard punishment given the severity of the offence, but the one-year reduction was applied to reflect his eventual admission and assistance.

ESIC also confirmed it is continuing to work with international law enforcement and other integrity partners in relation to additional individuals connected to the scheme. Further enforcement actions may follow, suggesting nifee wasn’t operating alone.

Inner Circle’s Response

Following the public announcement of the ban, Inner Circle Esports released a statement strongly condemning nifee’s actions. The organisation said it considers this kind of misconduct to be “absolutely unacceptable” and that it entered the esports industry to uphold fair play principles.

pic.twitter.com/4n3j7uKfmv

— Inner Circle (@InCircleEsports) April 1, 2026

Inner Circle revealed that upon receiving the initial alert from ESIC about suspicious activity, they immediately benched nifee and launched their own internal investigation while cooperating with ESIC’s process. The organisation also disclosed a significant piece of business fallout: due to growing doubts about nifee’s integrity, Inner Circle made the preventive decision last autumn to exclude him entirely from the acquisition deal that brought the TNL CS2 roster under the Inner Circle banner.

Why Prop Markets Are A Bigger Problem Than You Think

ESIC used this case to publicly flag a growing concern around proposition betting in esports. Unlike traditional match-fixing, where a team needs to lose a map or a series, prop market manipulation only requires a single player to engineer a discrete in-game incident. Nobody else on the server needs to know it’s happening.

The NOMERCY betting situation at Roman Imperium Cup VII is still fresh in the community’s memory, and nifee’s ban is another reminder that where betting markets exist, so do the incentives to exploit them. ESIC stated that it considers prop markets to present an acute integrity risk due to how easily they can be manipulated through isolated incidents.

What Comes Next

ESIC’s confirmation that it is working with law enforcement and that further bans may follow suggests this investigation is far from over. The individuals on the other side of those betting accounts, the ones placing wagers on newly created and VIP accounts, are likely still being pursued. For the CS2 community, this case sets a clear precedent: prop market manipulation is now firmly on ESIC’s radar, and the consequences are severe.

Belgian Counter-Strike player Nicolas Keoz Dgus has gone public with serious allegations against Ukrainian esports organisation kONO.ECF, claiming the team breached his contract by failing to pay his guaranteed salary for December.

The situation has quickly escalated into a public back and forth, with Keoz accusing the organisation of pressure, threats, and attempts to discredit him, while kONO strongly denies any wrongdoing and insists all obligations have been fulfilled.

Keoz Says Contract Was Breached

Keoz first shared his claims on social media on 18 January, stating that kONO had not paid his guaranteed December salary despite a clear contractual obligation to do so by a specific date each month. According to the player, he was only asking for the minimum salary guaranteed in his contract.

KONO has breached my contract.

Organisation of Ukrainian football player @kono10official have not paid my guaranteed salary for December, despite a valid obligation to pay no later than the X day of each month.

I am asking for nothing more than the minimum salary guaranteed by…

— Keoz (@KeozBEAST) January 18, 2026

Instead of payment, Keoz alleges he was met with pressure, threats, and attempts to discredit his reputation. He later added that when he continued to request payment, he was told the amount was insignificant and that he should stop insisting, a remark he says misses the point entirely.

“This is not about making someone richer,” Keoz explained. “This is about respecting a signed contract and basic professional standards.”

Roster Inactivity And Salary Dispute

A key part of Keoz’s argument centres on the team’s inactivity in December. He stated that he was not officially benched, suspended, or sanctioned in any way. Instead, he claims the organisation simply chose not to use the roster during that period.

According to Keoz, this decision does not allow for salary reductions under the terms of his contract, regardless of match participation or internal team decisions. Despite this, he says payment was still withheld.

Match-Fixing Claims And Integrity Review

The dispute took a more serious turn when Keoz revealed that he was later confronted with accusations of match-fixing, based on what he described as anonymous information. He was asked to undergo a polygraph test, something he claims only surfaced after the organisation had already breached the contract.

Keoz stressed that integrity investigations in esports follow established procedures and should never be used as a tool to avoid paying salaries already owed. While he stated he is willing to cooperate with any legitimate investigation, he noted that polygraph tests are not part of standard ESIC procedures to his knowledge.

Legal Action And Public Statement

After more than a month of silence, Keoz said he issued a formal legal demand to kONO and informed the organisation that he would speak publicly if the matter was not resolved. He maintained that he wanted to settle the issue privately and professionally, but felt left with no alternative.

The organisation is co-owned by former Ukrainian international footballer Yevhen Konoplyanka, whom Keoz publicly named in his posts, expressing hope that the co-owners are aware of how players are being treated.

kONO Responds To The Allegations

On 19 January, kONO issued a detailed statement through its official account, addressing the situation and pushing back against Keoz’s claims. The organisation confirmed that roster changes are in progress but said official announcements will only be made later this month.

All obligations have always been fulfilled toward everyone. However, when someone attempts to “exploit loopholes” or issue ultimatums, this is unacceptable, and it must be understood that such actions may receive a response.#kONOGO

— kONO.ECF (@konoecf) January 19, 2026

kONO denied ever withholding salary payments unlawfully and stated that all contractual and additional obligations have always been fulfilled. The organisation claimed that Keoz had an outstanding financial debt to the team, which should have been resolved months earlier.

According to kONO, both parties agreed that the full salary payment would be made in the final month of the year, taking mutual settlements into account. The organisation acknowledged that the phrase about the amount being insignificant was used, but said it was part of a private conversation and not intended to dismiss payment obligations.

Organisation Addresses Integrity Review And Communication

kONO also rejected claims that the roster was deliberately kept inactive as a form of punishment, calling such suggestions illogical given the financial cost and lack of sporting benefit.

Regarding the integrity review, the organisation stated that Keoz was asked to participate in a standard preventive procedure based on information received, and emphasised that no conclusions or public accusations were made against him.

The organisation further claimed that communication was moved to a strictly formal, written format at the player’s request, and alleged that it later received messages from individuals claiming to represent Keoz, warning of reputational consequences if payment was not made within three days. kONO said it requested proof of authority in line with confidentiality rules and received no further response.

The statement concluded by saying the organisation does not accept ultimatums or reputational pressure, and that all disputes will be handled strictly within legal and contractual frameworks.

What Happens Next

At the time of writing, Keoz has confirmed he is pursuing legal action, while kONO has stated it will not respond further to messages from the player regarding the dispute. Despite the controversy, the team has continued to compete, recently returning to HLTV action after its inactive December period.

The case highlights ongoing concerns around contracts, payments, and player protections in esports, an industry that continues to grow faster than its regulatory frameworks.

Setting New Standards in Talent Representation

The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) has launched the Certified Talent Agents Program, a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at recognising and accrediting individuals and organisations representing players, creators, and entertainers across gaming and esports.

The program establishes a professional benchmark for transparency, ethics, and accountability in an industry that has long struggled with unregulated representation. It’s designed to ensure that agents working with esports professionals and creators uphold standards of integrity that protect talent from exploitation, financial risks, and misconduct.

According to ESIC, the initiative was developed in collaboration with over 15 global agencies and sets a clear, credible framework for talent management within gaming, esports, and entertainment.

A Safer, More Transparent Industry

At its core, the Certified Talent Agents Program introduces a comprehensive evaluation and accreditation process. Applicants undergo financial due diligence, insurance checks, and criminal history reviews, as well as assessments of prior complaints or disciplinary issues.

Accredited agents must also adhere to a Code of Conduct and maintain appropriate indemnity measures, ensuring that client protection remains at the heart of their work. By creating a verified register of Certified Talent Agents, ESIC aims to raise trust and professionalism across the industry while reducing opportunities for unethical behaviour.

Stephen Hanna, CEO of ESIC, described the program as a crucial step forward.

“By providing a clear, credible accreditation pathway for talent agents, we are addressing an area that has been largely unregulated and often problematic for players,” he said.
“The Program aims to protect players from exploitation by setting international standards for Certified Talent Agents, publishing a verified register, providing fair dispute resolution, and enhancing the credibility of compliant agents and agencies.”

Foundation Members: SEG and Prodigy Agency

ESIC announced SEG and Prodigy Agency as foundation members of the Certified Talent Agents Program. Together, they’ve accredited 13 agents under the scheme, helping set the bar for integrity-driven talent management.

Rowan Stroo, Division Director Esports at SEG, said the initiative aligns perfectly with the agency’s mission.

“Our mission at SEG is to elevate the entire talent management industry by creating new industry standards. We’re thrilled to be a foundational member of ESIC’s Certified Talent Agents Program, as there is still little to no regulation in the esports and gaming ecosystems on many topics, including talent representation.”

Prodigy Agency Founder and CEO Jérôme Coupez echoed the sentiment, emphasising that the protection and empowerment of players must always come first.

“The lack of regulation in our industry has long created risks for players, and we have been leading the charge for years in pushing stakeholders to establish proper standards and official regulations for agents. This initiative is a landmark step for our industry, perfectly aligned with our ‘Players First’ vision.”

Raising Integrity and Reducing Exploitation

While the program primarily focuses on improving player representation, ESIC believes it will also have a positive knock-on effect on broader integrity issues like match-fixing.

By giving players access to certified, trustworthy representation, ESIC hopes to reduce the vulnerability that can lead to unethical behaviour or corruption. This comes after a series of recent enforcement actions, including suspensions of teams such as SENZA and Northern Lights for alleged code violations.

The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) has imposed an interim suspension on Team Northern Lights and its rostered Participants following a preliminary investigation indicating severe breaches of the ESIC Integrity Program.

This interim sanction applies to all ESIC Member Events… pic.twitter.com/mXt0GXCPe0

This decision comes shortly after Elitserien, a major Swedish league, banned the same roster for alleged cheating and match-fixing. The ESIC’s suspension aims to safeguard the integrity of ongoing competitions while a full investigation continues.

Who’s Affected

The five players provisionally banned from all ESIC member events include:

Axel “Axelen” Enholm

Anton “Meinz” Evander

Oscar “Avoy” Dahlkvist

Frank “Fraaank” Issal

Alexander “frigolito” Andersson

All five players were previously sanctioned by Elitserien earlier this month. Avoy, Fraaank, and frigolito were handed one-year bans for match-fixing, while Meinz and Axelen received lifetime bans, with Axelen also accused of cheating on top of the alleged fixing.

What the Suspension Means

Effective immediately, Northern Lights and its players are barred from participating in any ESIC Member Event, including online qualifiers and tournaments, until the investigation concludes.

Any time spent under this interim suspension will count toward potential final sanctions if wrongdoing is confirmed. ESIC clarified that this is not yet a final judgement but a necessary precaution to protect competitive fairness while due process unfolds.

“The matters under review concern potential violations of the Anti-Corruption Code and the Code of Conduct,” ESIC stated in its release.

Investigation Ongoing

ESIC has already issued Notices of Charge and interrogatories to the relevant participants, allowing them to respond before any final determination is made. The Commission will continue gathering evidence and may issue further enforcement actions depending on what is uncovered.

Once the investigation concludes, a public statement detailing the outcomes will be released. Event organisers affiliated with ESIC are expected to honour the suspension and prevent Northern Lights from competing in their events.

A Wider Problem in Swedish Counter-Strike

This case adds to a growing list of integrity issues in Sweden’s Counter-Strike scene in 2025. Earlier this year, former GODSENT player Joel “joel” Holmlund received a lifetime ban for cheating in online matches, sparking widespread debate about the region’s competitive integrity.

The Northern Lights scandal follows a pattern of recent actions by ESIC, which has been ramping up its enforcement to clean up the global esports ecosystem. In May, the Commission handed out multiple bans to ATOX Esports players and staff for alleged match-fixing, and earlier this month, it issued a similar interim suspension to SENZA’s CS2 roster.

ESIC’s Commitment to Integrity

ESIC reaffirmed its stance on preserving fair play across esports, noting that interim suspensions are vital tools when credible evidence arises during active investigations.

The organisation remains committed to ensuring all players and teams compete under transparent, honest conditions while promoting trust among fans, sponsors, and tournament organisers.

While the full details of Northern Lights’ alleged offences are still under review, this interim action underscores ESIC’s ongoing mission to maintain integrity within esports and to ensure competitive fairness is upheld across all levels of play.

In an official post on X (formerly Twitter), the organisers confirmed they had completed their inquiry, citing clear evidence and confessions that supported the allegations.

“The investigation has resulted in clear evidence and an admission confirming both cheating and match-fixing,” Elitserien stated. “As a direct consequence, two individuals have been permanently banned from all future leagues, cups, and tournaments associated with Svenska Elitserien.”

Three other players received time-limited suspensions of at least 12 months, after which their cases may be reconsidered. To protect the identities of whistleblowers and those involved, Elitserien said it would not publicly name anyone.

However, according to reports from HLTV.org, the banned players are members of the Northern Lights team, who were already under suspension earlier this week after organisers received credible evidence of “serious match-fixing.”

Confirmed Offences and Lifetime Bans

The five individuals sanctioned are believed to be:

Anton “Meinz” Evander – lifetime ban for match-fixing

Axel “Axelen” Enholm – lifetime ban for match-fixing and cheating

Frank “Fraaank” Issal – one-year ban for match-fixing

Oscar “Avoy” Dahlkvist – one-year ban for match-fixing

Alexander “frigolito” Andersson – one-year ban for match-fixing

Elitserien’s founder, Tommy “Potti” Ingemarsson, confirmed to HLTV that the disciplinary decisions were made based on “both physical evidence and player confessions.” He added that the league also received external assistance in gathering and verifying the materials that led to the admissions.

Cheating Methods and Match-Fixing Network

The CEO of Esplay, the platform on which Elitserien matches are played, Daniel “Pani” Aicardi, alleged that some Northern Lights players had used DMA/radar hacks while fixing matches across several online tournaments.

“Staying under the radar by never winning tournaments, their strategy was to remain mid-table, keep the invites coming, and keep match-fixing,” Aicardi wrote on X. “There’s much more to this than just one team. Organisers and leagues need to start digging now.”

One of the players, Fraaank, also admitted on X that his team used to intentionally win or lose matches depending on prearranged outcomes in tournaments such as Exort and United21 League.

Community Reaction

The scandal has drawn widespread reaction from the Counter-Strike community, with fans expressing disappointment and frustration online. Many called for broader investigations into lower-tier tournaments, where suspicions of corruption have long circulated.

“Tier 3 tournaments are full of match-fixers and cheaters,” one fan wrote. “People have been saying this for years, but nothing happens.”

Others criticised the lifetime bans for underaged players, while some praised Elitserien’s transparency and commitment to cleaning up the Swedish esports scene.

Despite the controversy, Svenska Elitserien reaffirmed its stance:

“Cheating and match-fixing have no place in our scene,” the organisation said. “We remain committed to a fair, transparent, and sustainable Swedish esports ecosystem.”

The league also encouraged other Swedish esports bodies to take similar steps, especially those receiving public funding to develop the local scene.

Elitserien’s decision marks one of the most decisive disciplinary actions in Swedish esports history, and could spark further investigations into competitive integrity across Europe’s semi-professional CS2 scene.

According to an official statement released by CCT, the suspensions stem from a September 29 match between teams THE and 1WIN, where suspicious activity was detected on the integrity camera of THE’s player Idris “1Drezz” Beksulanov. The footage reportedly didn’t match the player actually competing in the server, sparking a formal investigation.

The inquiry confirmed that Raiymbek “dune” Dusenov from KHAN had been playing on 1Drezz’s account, verified by hardware data from the Akros Anti-Cheat system. CCT labelled this as clear impersonation and account sharing, both serious violations of tournament rules.

Akros Anti-Cheat also independently detected cheating software, resulting in multiple permanent suspensions. As a result, several players from teams THE, KHAN, and Y5 have now been banned from all CCT competitions.

Two-Year Bans

Dastan “dosikk” Mauessov (KHAN)

Daniil “tEO” Pro (KHAN)

Raiymbek “dune” Dusenov (KHAN)

The remaining members of THE, KHAN, and Y5 will face six-month suspensions from all CCT events. Any scheduled matches involving the affected players or teams have also been forfeited.

CCT emphasised that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward cheating, account sharing, and any other forms of competitive fraud, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining integrity within the Counter-Strike 2 esports scene.

“Protecting the integrity of competition remains our highest priority, and we will continue to enforce strict measures against any actions that compromise fair play,” the organiser stated.

These latest bans add to a growing list of integrity cases in CS2 throughout 2025. Earlier this year, the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) permanently banned Swedish player Joel “joel” Holmlund for serious conduct violations, and Mongolian organisation ATOX Esports faced a series of bans related to match-fixing.

The recent ruling from CCT reinforces the message that cheating and account manipulation will not be tolerated in professional Counter-Strike, regardless of level or region.

Riot Games has taken another big step in shaping the future of its esports scene with the launch of a brand-new Competitive Operations website. The platform acts as a central hub for competitive integrity across League of Legends, VALORANT, and Teamfight Tactics.

The site is designed to be more than just a noticeboard. It’s a full resource for players, teams, tournament organisers, and fans, covering official rulings, core regulations, penalties, and even dispute resolution procedures. In other words, it’s Riot’s attempt to make the often-confusing world of competitive rules and decisions a lot clearer for everyone involved.

Building trust and fairness

According to Riot, the goal behind the website is simple: boost transparency and maintain trust within the competitive community. Each game now has its own dedicated section that lays out its competitive structure, along with a library of documents and forms that will be kept updated over time.

One of the key features is a rulings repository, which makes all disciplinary decisions public. There’s also a penalty tracker, so anyone can see how enforcement plays out across Riot’s titles. For a space like esports, where accusations of match-fixing and unfair play have been a recurring headache in 2025, this kind of open approach could go a long way in setting a new standard.

The site also dives into Riot’s anti-match-fixing framework, which is especially important for League of Legends and VALORANT. With recent scandals shaking up the scene, including FPX’s suspension of Milkyway for allegedly leaking draft info, Riot is clearly signalling that competitive integrity is front and centre.

More than just rules

It’s not all about penalties and violations, though. The Competitive Operations site also connects to Riot’s esports data initiative, which the company says is a long-term investment in the sustainability of its titles. By making competitive data accessible and reliable, Riot hopes to give fans, teams, and organisers better tools to grow the scene.

In a statement, Riot explained:

“Through our Competitive Operations programs, we aim to build an esports ecosystem grounded in the highest principles of integrity and fairness.”

That focus on accessibility and transparency should make the experience smoother not just for pros and organisations, but also for fans who want to follow the competitive storylines with more context.

Setting a precedent

Esports is still young compared to traditional sports, and establishing clear and open systems like this is crucial for its future. Riot’s new hub might not stop every issue from popping up, but it’s a clear sign that the company wants to lead by example when it comes to competitive fairness.

For now, the site is live and ready to explore, and for anyone who follows League, VALORANT, or TFT, it’s worth a look.
