The long-rumoured Fortnite Toy Story collaboration has finally started to take shape, with encrypted files from the 1 April patch confirming Buzz Lightyear and Emperor Zurg as the first two skins tied to the crossover.

Dataminer ShiinaBR revealed that Buzz and Zurg will debut as Showdown Cup skins through a “Buzz vs Zurg” tournament, giving players a shot at earning both outfits before they hit the Item Shop. The three-eyed Aliens from the franchise are also joining the game as a Sidekick cosmetic.

This collab has been on the radar since early March, when leakers FNBRintel and SamLeakss first reported that Toy Story characters were headed to Fortnite. The April update has now added the hard files to back those claims up.

Buzz Lightyear And Zurg Are Showdown Cup Rewards

Both skins will be available first through the Buzz vs Zurg Showdown Cup, following the same format Epic Games used for the recent Game of Thrones crossover. In that event, players competed in the Jon Snow Cup and Night King Cup on 20 March to earn free skins before they appeared in the Item Shop later that day.

Showdown Cups are solo tournaments that run for a few hours, with the top-placing players in each region earning the featured cosmetics at no cost. Everyone else can purchase the skins separately from the Item Shop once the cup wraps up.

The structure here suggests Buzz and Zurg will be sold individually rather than bundled into a larger Toy Story takeover event. Based on typical collab pricing, each skin is likely to cost around 1,500 V-Bucks.

Three-Eyed Aliens Arriving As A Sidekick

Alongside the two headline skins, the encrypted files also revealed that the iconic three-eyed Aliens will be added as a Sidekick cosmetic. Sidekicks were introduced last year as a way to bring collab characters into Fortnite when a full skin doesn’t quite work, usually because of size or proportions.

The Aliens join a growing roster of Sidekick characters that already includes SpongeBob SquarePants and Baby Groot. Given how small the Aliens are relative to the main Toy Story cast, they’re a natural fit for the companion slot.

Earlier Leaks Pointed To Woody And A Pizza Planet Car

The skins uncovered in today’s patch aren’t the full picture. Back on 8 March, FNBRintel first reported that Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Zurg would all receive skins as part of the crossover. SamLeakss followed up on 18 March with additional details, including a Pizza Planet Car vehicle cosmetic and one or two Sidekicks.

Woody’s skin has not appeared in the encrypted files from this update, which could mean his outfit is being held back for a separate release or a later patch. The Pizza Planet Car, a vehicle that shows up as an Easter egg in nearly every Pixar film, was also flagged in the earlier leaks as a cosmetic for both Battle Royale and Rocket Racing.

Epic Games has not officially announced the Toy Story collaboration or confirmed any of these items.

Timing Lines Up With Toy Story 5

The crossover lands ahead of Toy Story 5, which is set to release in cinemas on 19 June 2026. Disney is a major shareholder in Epic Games, and the two companies have been steadily ramping up their collaboration efforts throughout Chapter 7.

Recent Disney-adjacent additions to Fortnite include Tom Lizard from Pixar’s Hoppers, Disney Tsum Tsum back blings, and the Game of Thrones crossover that launched alongside Chapter 7 Season 2. Toy Story follows that same promotional playbook, building hype for an upcoming film through one of the biggest live-service games on the market.

The franchise spans three decades of films, and bringing its characters into a battle royale setting does raise the obvious tonal contrast of family-friendly toys running around with weapons. That said, Fortnite crossed that bridge a long time ago with characters like Mr. Incredible and SpongeBob, and it hasn’t slowed down the collab machine.

No Official Announcement Yet

Everything uncovered so far comes from encrypted patch files and trusted dataminers. Epic has not confirmed when the Buzz vs Zurg Showdown Cup will take place or when the skins will arrive in the Item Shop.

Given how quickly the Game of Thrones skins moved from encrypted files to a live tournament, though, the Toy Story drop could follow a similar timeline. Keep an eye on Fortnite’s competitive tab for when the cup goes live.

Players and their squads will face endless waves of infected enemies in a burning city overrun by chaos. It’s a fight for survival where every second counts, and every hero matters.

“The city’s burning, the infected are rising — and it’s up to you to hold the line,” Marvel Rivals teased on social media, alongside a short clip showcasing the upcoming mode.

Inside Marvel Zombies Mode

Marvel Zombies arrives during Season 4.5, and it’s more than just a limited-time event, it’s a full PvE experience designed to push players’ teamwork and strategy to the limit.

Players can choose from five playable heroes, each featuring unique modifiers exclusive to the mode:

• Thor – Unlimited Awakened mode
• Magik – Unlimited Darkchylde mode
• Jeff the Landshark – “Hide and Seek” damages nearby enemies

We are getting a first look at Marvel Television’s Ironheart, with the debut of a teaser trailer.

Launching exclusively on Disney+ on June 25, 2025 the new series stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a young, genius inventor whose iron suits rival the best in the MCU.

The character made her debut in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, directed by Ryan Coogler.

“Ironheart is such a great character in publishing,” said Coogler. “In 2016, Brian Michael Bendis created a character who would be a successor of sorts to the Iron Man legacy. In the comic book, Riri Williams and Tony Stark had a relationship—she was a student at MIT who came from an almost polar opposite background as Tony, but they came together in their passion to better society. Eventually, the character gets her own identity as Ironheart, and other writers like Eve Ewing picked up from there, taking Riri Williams to Chicago.”

Set after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ironheart pits technology against magic when Riri, determined to make her mark on the world, returns to her hometown of Chicago.

Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins aka “The Hood” (Anthony Ramos).

The series also stars Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam and Anji White. Chinaka Hodge is head writer; episodes are directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes. April 14 marks the 113th anniversary of the R.M.S. Titanic’s sinking—an event that has fuelled global fascination for over a century.

National Geographic presents TITANIC: THE DIGITAL RESURRECTION, a groundbreaking 90-minute documentary that offers an unprecedented look at history’s most infamous maritime disaster. Using exclusive access to cutting-edge underwater scanning technology, including 715,000 digitally captured images, the special unveils the most precise model of the Titanic ever created: a full-scale, 1:1 digital twin, accurate down to the rivet. Hull Fragments

Astor and Benjamin Guggenheim may have sought refuge as the ship went down.

First Officer William Murdoch

Further analysis of the digital scans adds to the evidence exonerating First Officer Murdoch, long accused of abandoning his post. The position of a lifeboat davit—seen in new hi-res detail—suggests his crew was preparing a launch moments before the starboard side was engulfed, corroborating Second Officer Charles Lightoller’s testimony that Murdoch was swept away by the sea.

The 90-minute special also examines in stunning detail the 15-square-mile debris field, rich with hundreds of personal artifacts, including pocket watches, purses, gold coins, hair combs, shoes and a shark’s tooth charm, offering a poignant glimpse into the lives lost. Historian Yasmin Khan and the team connect these items to their original owners.

Scans also reveal the wreck’s alarming deterioration, with iconic areas of the wreck already collapsing. However, thanks to this digital twin, the Titanic is preserved in perfect detail as it appeared in 2022, securing its place in history for generations to come and marking a new era in underwater archaeology.

Disney+ has just released the trailer for The Simpsons all-new holiday special ‘O C’mon All Ye Faithful’, premiering exclusively on Disney+.

Derren Brown guest stars in the holiday special, which also features musical performances from Patti LaBelle and Pentatonix. The Christmas-themed double episode is launching timed to the 35th anniversary of ‘The Simpsons’ original Christmas special which aired on December 17, 1989.

Famed British mentalist, Derren Brown, comes to Springfield and uses psychological tricks and showmanship to raise the town’s Christmas spirit. When Homer gets hypnotised and mistakenly believes he is Santa Claus, it sets off a cheery chain-reaction and causes everyone to question what they believe and to explore the meaning of ‘miracle’.

Featuring musical performances by Patti LaBelle and Pentatonix, this special double episode marks the 35th anniversary of the original Christmas special from ‘The Simpsons’ (‘Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire’) and airs exclusively on Disney+ starting December 17th, 2024.

Boy how I’ve missed a lot of the MCU as of late.

I can distinctly remember a time when I was seeing almost every movie that came out more or less on release day.

I saw ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ at some point, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ was alright… aaaaand lemme do a quick Wikipedia search… ‘Black Widow’, I saw that one.

Those are the only Marvel movies I’ve seen in this decade. Bloody hell, seventeen-year-old me would never have believed it.

Going into Deadpool & Wolverine, hopefully that means I’m a little more inoculated against the Marvel fatigue that has well and truly set into the modern cultural landscape as these movies start coming and they don’t stop coming.

Deadpool & Wolverine is the thirty-fourth film in the MCU and is hotly anticipated for a couple of reasons beyond the ones I just mentioned.

Deadpool is the poster child for a modern fourth wall demolisher. He shares in-jokes with the audience, talks about studio politics, and will occasionally address a character by the name of the actor playing them. If you aren’t into comics and only consume superhero stuff through movies, there’s really nothing else quite like him (I’m told She-Hulk was similar, but nobody seemed to like it.)

But more importantly, Wolverine is back, and that’s a big deal.

Directed by Shawn Levy, we start with Ryan Reynolds’ eponymous merc-with-a-mouth Deadpool drifting through life without knowing what to do with himself. To his great joy he is pulled from such mundane hell to do superhero shit again, but as you might expect he is dropped right back down again when he is informed his entire universe is about to be destroyed. Apparently, due to some incredibly contrived reasons, Wolverine was single-handedly holding reality together and his death at the end of Logan has made things start to fall apart… somehow. Stop asking questions.

So now he has to find a living Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman finally in the iconic yellow suit, and find a way to save his universe.

So what we have here is a journey of two fundamentally unkillable warriors on a mission, one of whom cannot stop talking to save his life and the other who has anger issues.

As you might imagine, they fight a lot.

And since I mentioned they cannot die, those fights become extremely messy and end up accomplishing not much other than putting more gratuitous violence on the screen and moving the guy who makes fake blood up a tax bracket.

Combine that with universe jumping and Disney money bringing back a few old faces and you have a machine built for hype.

It’s all hype, all the way down.

They even have a moment where Deadpool stumbles onto a faithful recreation of the legendary Uncanny X-Men #251 cover with Wolverine crucified on the X over a field of skulls.

The plot is little more than a vehicle for more hype moments and jokes. It’s loaded with inconsistencies and unexplained phenomena. The entire climax of the film hinges upon a substantial unexplained plot development being handwaved as ‘we’re so awesome’. I can best describe the story beats as ‘stuff happening’ again and again, with fourth wall cuts and quips in between. I watched this with my dad and he claims he lost track of what was going on after the first third of the movie but had fun anyway… which kind of sums up the entire experience really.

It’s a Deadpool and Wolverine movie filled with Deadpool and Wolverine moments.

Every few minutes, a character or situation will be introduced for at least one other existing character to react to, usually by saying ‘Holy Shit’. The plot literally creates an entirely new mechanism for bringing back characters from previous dead end Marvel movies that often pre-date the MCU itself.

Hype, hype… hype. Honestly, it felt less like watching a movie and more like a two-hour TikTok video.

What else… oh yeah, the action. It’s excellent. That’s almost par for the course for a Marvel movie; even the worst ones can reliably be said to have some pretty decent fight scenes, but taking off the kid gloves and letting the characters say ‘fuck’ then successfully impale the guy who can survive such treatment through the head elevates it. Levy had two of the biggest ticket characters of Marvel in his pocket, and by god did he use them to make a glorious, bloody mess.

As for whether I’d recommend Deadpool & Wolverine, that’s the wrong question. If you’ve seen the first two Deadpool movies, then you already know if you are going to enjoy this. Honestly, I feel disingenuous having to even put a review score to it, you will either love it or hate it.

I’ll give it a three out of five, but your mileage may vary.

Catherine Laga‘aia will be voyaging to Motunui and beyond as the adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people in Disney’s upcoming live-action Moana.

“I’m really excited to embrace this character because Moana is one of my favorites,” said the 17-year-old Sydney, Australia, native. “My grandfather comes from Fa‘aala, Palauli, in Savai‘i. And my grandmother is from Leulumoega Tuai on the main island of ‘Upolu in Samoa. I’m honored to have an opportunity to celebrate Samoa and all Pacific Island peoples, and to represent young girls who look like me.”

The cast also includes Auckland, New Zealander John Tui as Moana’s no-nonsense father, Chief Tui; Samoan-New Zealand actress Frankie Adams portrays Moana’s playful and strong-willed mother, Sina; and Rena Owen, who hails from Bay of Islands, NZ, was cast as the revered Gramma Tala. Previously announced, Dwayne Johnson, who voiced larger-than-life demigod Maui in the 2016 animated version of the film, will reprise his role.

Releasing in New Zealand cinemas on July 9, 2026, “Moana” is directed by Thomas Kail, who helmed “Hamilton” on Broadway and Disney+, “Grease Live” and the first and last episodes of Hulu’s lauded limited series “We Were the Lucky Ones.” Said Kail, “I am thrilled to have met Catherine, Rena, Frankie and John through this casting process. I am humbled by this opportunity, and I cannot wait to all be on set together. And there’s no better pair to be in a canoe with than Catherine and Dwayne—actually, trio: Heihei is ready, too.”

“Moana” will bring to life in a whole new way the story of a young woman eager to pave her own path. Celebrating the islands, communities and traditions of Pacific Islanders in a spectacular adventure, the production begins filming this summer.

The new feature film is produced by Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia via their Seven Bucks Productions and Beau Flynn via FlynnPictureCo. Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the original songs, will also serve as producer. Executive producers include Scott Sheldon of FlynnPictureCo., Auli‘i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the 2016 film, and Charles Newirth. Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller have been tapped for the project.

Bush, a veteran of Disney Animation, wrote the screenplay for 2016’s “Moana,” and Miller is a Samoan writer who created Netflix’s “Thai Cave Rescue” and co-founded the non-profit Pasifika Entertainment Advancement Komiti (PEAK).

Ravensburger, publisher of award-winning board games and high-quality toys and puzzles, has announced that Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game (TCG), the collectible trading card game, is now available in limited quantities.

Booster packs and starter decks of the next three sets will be released in the coming weeks; Rise of the Floodborn (June 15th), Into the Inklands (June 29th), and Ursula’s Return (July 13th). The full range of Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game products will be available from August 9th, 2024 with the debut of the TCG’s fifth set.

Disney+ has just released the teaser trailer for theor four-piece animated special LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy.

The animated special showcases the longtime team-up of Lucasfilm and Danish toy manufacturing company, The LEGO Group.  “It’s hard to believe that it’s been twenty-five years since the ground-breaking collaboration between Lucasfilm and The LEGO Group began,” says executive producer James Waugh. “In that time, LEGO Star Wars has given our fans the unique power to unlock their imaginations and play with the galaxy’s elements in any way they can conceive… and build. In LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, the entire Star Wars Galaxy gets completely mixed up when an ordinary nerf-herder, Sig Greebling (Gaten Matarazzo), unearths a powerful artifact from a hidden Jedi temple. He finds himself thrust into adventure in a new, wondrously wild and twisted version of the galaxy where good guys are bad, bad guys are good, and the fate of all depends on Sig becoming the hero who can put all the pieces back together.

The talented voice cast features Gaten Matarazzo (Sig Greebling), Tony Revolori (Dev Greebling), Bobby Moynihan (Jedi Bob), Marsai Martin (Yesi Scala), Michael Cusack (Servo), Ahmed Best (Darth Jar Jar), and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker). Dan Hernandez, Benji Samit, James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, Josh Rimes, Jill Wilfert, Jason Cosler and Keith Malone are the executive producers. Chris Buckley directs with Daniel Cavey & Dan Langlois producing.

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy consists of four parts, which debut September 13th 2024, exclusively on Disney+.
