No additional compensation beyond the listed prize distribution has been announced.

A Timely Boost for Women’s Counter-Strike

The launch of JB Pro League Female 2026 #1 arrives during a period of uncertainty for the women’s CS scene, following the suspension of the ESL Impact circuit in 2026.

Speaking to HLTV, Ksenia Kluenkova, better known as vilga, highlighted how important initiatives like this are for keeping the scene alive.

She noted that while online tournaments cannot fully replace a structured ecosystem with LAN events, regular competition remains essential for player development and long term sustainability. The prize pool and consistent schedule also give teams something meaningful to build towards in a challenging year.

Building on JB Pro League’s Debut

JB Pro League Female 2026 #1 follows the organiser’s debut event, JB Pro League 2025, which was held in November 2025. With this latest announcement, the league is positioning itself as a new competitive pillar for women’s Counter-Strike heading into 2026.

For teams looking to stay active and for fans eager to see high level women’s CS continue, this tournament could prove to be a vital fixture early in the year.

The Singapore Major is more than just another stop on the competitive calendar, it marks the first time a Counter-Strike Major will be held in Southeast Asia, giving the region a moment that fans have been waiting years to see.

Three Stages, One Champion

The Major will unfold across three stages before heading to the 12,000 capacity Singapore Indoor Stadium for the final four days of playoffs. The arena, well known for hosting top esports events such as The International and BLAST Slam IV, will once again become home to a massive crowd of passionate fans.

The tournament will conclude with a best of five grand final, where one team will lift the Major trophy in front of a packed stadium.

PGL has confirmed its continued focus on fair play, broadcast quality, and a viewing experience that keeps both fans and players at the centre of the action.

A New Era For Counter-Strike In Southeast Asia

This event represents a historic milestone. Following the Perfect World Shanghai Major in 2024, Singapore now becomes the next Asian destination to host Counter-Strike’s most prestigious tournament. The move signals a clear effort to expand the global footprint of CS2 beyond Europe and North America.

PGL has a long track record of hosting landmark events, including Krakow, Stockholm, Antwerp, and Copenhagen. The Singapore Major becomes the studio’s fifth CS Major, and its fifth major esports event held in Singapore after tournaments such as the DOTA 2 Singapore Major and The International 2022.

For the region, the 2026 Major is both a celebration and an opportunity. With esports increasingly recognised within Singapore’s national sporting framework, the country is positioning itself as a world-class destination for competitive gaming.

Introducing Full Best Of Three Matches

One of the most significant format changes is that all group stage matches, beginning with the Challengers Stage, will now be played as best of three. This shifts away from the previous mix of BO1 and BO3, reducing randomness and placing more emphasis on preparation and map strategy.

The updated schedule adds extra days to accommodate the expanded match format, helping teams avoid overload and ensuring competitive fairness across all stages. Fans can expect longer, more tactical series that highlight the full depth of Counter-Strike gameplay.

The Road To The Grand Final

Across the 19-day event, 32 teams will battle through the Valve Regional Standings system for the chance to earn one of the biggest achievements in esports. The path ends with a champion crowned in Singapore, closing the 2026 CS2 season.

PGL’s previous Majors rank among the most watched in Counter-Strike history, and with Southeast Asia hosting for the first time, the Singapore Major is poised to become another standout moment.

What PGL And Singapore Officials Say

“Bringing the first Counter-Strike Major to Singapore is a moment that truly inspires us,” said Silviu Stroie, CEO of PGL. “The city has been home to some of our most memorable events, and returning now with a Major feels like the natural next step.”

Ms Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive from the Singapore Tourism Board, added, “We look forward with much anticipation to hosting our first Counter Strike Major in 2026, which will reinforce Singapore as a world-class events destination. As one of the most prestigious tournaments in the Counter Strike scene, the event promises to attract fans from around the region.”

Tickets Coming Soon

Details on ticket sales will be announced in the coming months. With a historic first for Southeast Asia and one of the biggest events in the CS calendar, demand is expected to be high.

A Long-Awaited Breakthrough

After months of solid form at smaller tournaments like FISSURE Playground 2 and the Thunderpick World Championships, FURIA were yet to prove themselves against the world’s best. That changed in Chengdu.

Led by veteran in-game leader Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, the Brazilians powered through the playoffs in flawless fashion, defeating The MongolZ and Falcons 2-0 before taking down Vitality in the grand final without dropping a single map.

For Vitality, it was a disappointing night. Analyst Janko “YNk” Paunović called their veto strategy “overcooked” before the match, and it showed. Allowing their usual permaban of Ancient to go through gave FURIA the perfect opener, and they never looked back.

Ancient: molodoy’s 1v2 Sparks the Comeback

FURIA came out swinging on Ancient, taking an early 3-0 lead before Vitality’s aggressive defence began to bite back. But the momentum shifted when molodoy produced a stunning 3K on a low buy and sealed the half with a clutch 1v2.

In the second half, William “mezii” Merriman’s ace gave Vitality hope, while Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut found impact with his AWP entries. But FURIA’s composure prevailed, YEKINDAR and Yuri “yuurih” Santos locked down B site pushes, and FalleN closed the map 13-11 with trademark calm and precision.

Inferno: FalleN Outsmarts apEX

Inferno started in Vitality’s favour, with ZywOo dominating and the Europeans racing to a 5-0 lead. Then chaos erupted. FURIA clawed back rounds off the back of yuurih’s sharp rifling and some scrappy buys, closing the gap to a narrow halftime scoreline.

FalleN’s mid-round calls shone through in the second half. FURIA built a run of rounds, forcing Vitality onto the back foot. Despite two big holds from Shahar “flameZ” Shushan, FURIA’s relentless pressure and a decisive Tec-9 push on A broke Vitality’s defence. Another 13-10 win, and FURIA moved within touching distance of the trophy.

Overpass: FURIA Seal the Sweep

With their backs against the wall, Vitality started strong on Overpass thanks to ZywOo, ropz, and apEX building a 6-1 lead. But once again, FURIA flipped the script.

molodoy’s heroics returned with a crucial 4K, and YEKINDAR opened the second half with a commanding 3K pistol round. From there, the Brazilians took control, piling on pressure and outgunning Vitality at every turn. apEX’s spectacular 1v3 clutch was too little, too late, as FURIA surged to a 13-11 finish to secure the sweep.

Brazil Back on Top

This victory represents more than just a trophy for FURIA. It’s proof that their gamble on new talent paid off, and that Brazilian Counter-Strike is once again capable of reaching the summit.

From FalleN’s leadership to molodoy’s breakthrough performance, FURIA’s IEM Chengdu win will be remembered as the moment the team truly came of age.

After cruising through their semi-final clashes, the two European powerhouses will face off in a best-of-five series to decide who lifts the trophy.

Vitality were first to book their spot in the final after dismantling MOUZ 2-0. On Mirage, the French-led side punished their opponents for a series of slip-ups, most notably turning a full eco round into a momentum-shifting win. A 1v2 clutch from Lotan “Spinx” Giladi briefly kept MOUZ alive, but Vitality’s relentless A-site hits proved too much as they closed out the map 13-7.

Inferno told a similar story. Despite MOUZ finding early clutches, Vitality’s defensive half was airtight. Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut led the charge with a triple kill in the pistol round, and the team never looked back, sealing the series with a 13-8 scoreline. It marks Vitality’s first grand final appearance since the BLAST.tv Austin Major, with William “mezii” Merriman now one win away from lifting a trophy on home soil.

On the other side of the bracket, G2 rolled past FURIA with equal dominance. Their new-look roster wasted no time stamping their authority on Inferno, storming to an 8-4 lead at half-time before Álvaro “SunPayus” García and Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko put the finishing touches on a commanding 13-5 victory.

Mirage was tighter in the first half thanks to clutch plays from FURIA’s Danil “molodoy” Golubenko and Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis, but once sides swapped, G2’s firepower overwhelmed the Brazilians. SunPayus once again stole the spotlight, finishing with a 1.78 rating as G2 wrapped up another 13-5 to punch their ticket to the grand final.

Defending Champs NAVI Stunned by 3DMAX

NAVI’s title defence ended in heartbreak as they fell 2-1 to 3DMAX in the Round of 16. It was the perfect debut for 21-year-old Filip “Graviti” Brankovic as in-game leader, after Bryan “Maka” Canda stepped back from calling to focus on the AWP.

3DMAX struck first on Ancient despite Drin “makazze” Shaqiri’s 14-kill half for NAVI. A scrappy pistol rush on A sealed it 13-10. NAVI looked comfortable on their Inferno pick with an 8-4 lead, but collapsed after the pistols, conceding nine rounds straight to a rejuvenated Maka, who shone without the burden of IGL duties.

Nuke came down to the wire. NAVI rallied to a 9-8 lead but faltered at 11-11, as 3DMAX reached match point and capped it off with a clutch 2v4 in the final round. Makazze topped the series with a 1.26 rating, but his heroics weren’t enough to stop NAVI from crashing out.

3DMAX knock out last year’s EWC champions 🤯 pic.twitter.com/mvU9tHd52F

3DMAX now face The MongolZ in the quarter-finals, while NAVI are left with questions about their lingering T-side struggles.

Spirit’s First Real Slip as HEROIC Take Them Out

Spirit, who came in red-hot after winning IEM Cologne and BLAST Bounty Season 2, also met an early end. HEROIC, playing their last event with Andrey “tN1R” Tatarinovich before his transfer to Spirit, edged them out 2-1 in a thriller.

After being battered on Ancient, HEROIC hit back on Nuke thanks to Simon “yxngstxr” Boije’s two clutch 1v2s and monster 2.09 rating. Rookie Alimzhan “Alkaren” Bitimbai, on loan from Spirit Academy, also had impact moments to help push it to Mirage.

The decider turned into a nail-biting overtime, where tN1R, facing his soon-to-be teammates, was pivotal. HEROIC held firm under pressure and sent Spirit packing, handing them their first defeat to a non-elite side this year and snapping their 10-series winning streak.

World’s No. 2 falls to HEROIC 🔥 pic.twitter.com/GypLJ8cngi

— HLTV.org (@HLTVorg) August 20, 2025

Spirit’s dominance since adding Ivan “zweih” Gogin had made them look untouchable, but this stumble ahead of BLAST Open London raises big questions.

FaZe Sent Packing by Aurora

As if NAVI and Spirit falling wasn’t enough, FaZe also joined the early exit list. Aurora, led by Engin “MAJ3R” Küpeli, recovered from a blowout on Inferno (6-13) to dominate Mirage (13-3) and Overpass (13-7), exploiting FaZe’s now familiar T-side problems.

Inferno was all FaZe, with Håvard “rain” Nygaard and Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski forming an immovable A-site wall. EliGE finished with a 2.57 CT rating and +16.04% Round Swing as FaZe stormed to victory.

But Mirage flipped the script. Özgür “woxic” Eker dismantled FaZe early, pulling out a second-round AWP and stringing together multi-kill after multi-kill. He finished the half 12-1 as FaZe collapsed to a 2-10 half before Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş closed out the map 13-3.

On Overpass, Aurora rode the momentum with XANTARES and Ali “Wicadia” Haydar Yalçın locking down A and Monster-Short. Wicadia’s quad kill set Aurora on match point, and they wasted no time finishing the job. FaZe’s offence managed just two rounds across the final two maps, a brutal stat that summed up their collapse.

Aurora send FaZe packing from #EWC2025 ⭐️ pic.twitter.com/DDv8ulCdZL

The MongolZ Hold Firm

While other favourites stumbled, The MongolZ kept their momentum from BLAST Bounty alive, steamrolling GamerLegion 2-0 in their opener. After surviving an early scare on Overpass, they locked down A Bathrooms through Sodbayar “Techno” Munkhbold and Usukhbayar “910” Banzragch. Techno admitted post-game that returning to Overpass was a challenge, but his side showed no rust.

Inferno was even more one-sided, with Ayush “mzinho” Batbold pulling off back-to-back 1v3 clutches to bury GamerLegion. Meanwhile, new GL AWPer Jeremy “Kursy” Gast struggled, ending the series with just two AWP kills and a team-low 0.69 rating.

The MongolZ eliminate GamerLegion from the #EWC2025 pic.twitter.com/wlvxfSsrIO

The MongolZ now prepare for their clash with 3DMAX in the quarter-finals, a match-up that has suddenly become one of the most anticipated of the tournament.

A Wide-Open Tournament

With NAVI, Spirit, and FaZe all eliminated before the quarter-finals, the Esports World Cup bracket is wide open. The MongolZ are the only powerhouse left standing, while 3DMAX, HEROIC, and Aurora ride the momentum of their huge wins into the next stage.

For NAVI and FaZe, the focus will be fixing long-standing offensive woes. For Spirit, the sting comes not just from the early loss, but from falling to HEROIC right before tN1R joins them.

One thing’s clear: the 2025 Esports World Cup has already delivered shockwaves, and we’re only just getting started.

It’s the kind of plot twist no one saw coming, not even Liquid themselves. Just not too long ago, the CS2 world watched them get absolutely schooled in the RES Showdown 2: BLAST Premier Rising. That early knockout, especially to an academy squad, had fans questioning whether the whole siuhy-led rebuild was dead in the water.

From Shaky Ground to a Shot at Redemption

But Liquid got lucky.

With The MongolZ forced to withdraw after being unable to secure travel access to the UK for the LAN playoffs, a slot magically opened up. BLAST handed it to Liquid, giving them what might just be their last real shot to salvage this season.

They’ve already kicked things off in BLAST Bounty Season 2, starting with a wild ride of a match against ECSTATIC. The match was an absolute banger, dragging on for five overtimes on Train. It wasn’t perfect CS by any means, but it showed a different fire from the North American squad.

What is happening in this game… NIP vs AMKAL V2

And let’s be honest, for a team that’s been spiralling for most of the year, any sign of life is worth talking about.

The Road to Wembley Is No Walk in the Park

The BLAST Open London kicks off online on August 27, with only six squads making it through to the LAN finals at Ovo Arena Wembley (September 5–7). And when you’re up against the likes of Vitality, MOUZ, NaVi, G2, and FaZe, nobody’s tipping Liquid to make it out alive.

Still, the path’s there. And if they manage to book a ticket to Wembley, they’ll gain precious VRS ranking points ahead of the Starladder Budapest 2025 Major cutoff.

That said, Liquid need more than just luck. They need to show they belong. Five overtimes against ECSTATIC is a good start. But against tier-one monsters? They’ll need to look like a completely different beast.

MongolZ Sit This One Out

As for The MongolZ, it’s a tough blow. The Mongolian giants are currently ranked #4 globally and had one hell of a run earlier this year, remember their runner-up finish at the Blast.tv Austin Major after knocking out FaZe and paiN?

Unfortunately, their recent IEM Cologne showing was underwhelming, partly due to only having four days of prep. And now, with London off the table, they’ll be sidelined while the rest of the field battles it out.

GG @natusvincere

— The MongolZ (@1mongolz) August 1, 2025

Still, sitting out may not be the worst thing for them. Their rankings are stable, and this forced break could give them time to sharpen the little details needed to start lifting trophies again.

Team Liquid might have stumbled into BLAST Open London through the back door, but opportunity doesn’t knock twice. They’ve already tasted humiliation this season, this might just be the turning point they desperately need.

London’s calling. Let’s see if Liquid answers.

Six teams, including all four of the top teams in the globe, have advanced to the bracket round of IEM Cologne’s playoffs at the LANXESS Arena competing for the ultimate shares of the $1,000,000 prize pool.

Qualified Teams and Brackets

Six teams begin their Playoffs journey on Friday, August 1st:

Team Vitality

Team Spirit

The MongolZ

MOUZ

FURIA

Natus Vincere (NAVI)

Team Spirit and Team Vitality both finished first in their groups, which automatically qualified them for the semifinals.

The IEM Cologne Playoffs quarterfinals will feature matches between MOUZ, FURIA, The MongolZ, and NAVI. These games are set for August 1st and will be played on the stage in Cologne. You lose? You’re eliminated right away.

On August 2nd, the winners of MOUZ vs. FURIA and MongolZ vs. NAVI will match against Team Vitality and Team Spirit in the semifinals.

The Grand Final of IEM Cologne is scheduled for Monday, August 3.

Key Players in the Group Stage

The IEM Cologne 2025 Group Stage saw several incredible individual performances that influenced the playoff picture in addition to some memorable games.

Donk, Spirit’s teenage prodigy, was without a doubt the highlight. Donk maintains his position as the year’s most dominant rifler with a 1.52 rating on seven maps. His steady play and strong entry were crucial in helping Team Spirit advance through a challenging Group Stage bracket.

Interestingly, Kyousuke managed to shine with a 1.39 rating even though Team Falcons had to retire early. Despite the team’s defeat by FURIA and The MongolZ, his performance, particularly during high-pressure situations, attracted attention.

With a 1.32 rating, iM from NAVI was another standout performer, demonstrating the Romanian star’s comeback to form following a relatively rocky first half of the year. iM was one of the tournament’s most valued assets because of his mid-round influence and clutch ability.

Also making waves for Team Spirit was sh1ro, matching iM’s 1.32 rating. His synergy with donk has become the backbone of Team Spirit’s late-round dominance and has many speculating if this could be their tournament to lose.

Team Vitality, already one of the most cohesive lineups this year, showcased their firepower and depth with four of their players making the top ratings list:

ZywOo: 1.31 rating (6 maps)

mezii: 1.24 rating (6 maps)

flameZ: 1.22 rating (6 maps)

ropz: 1.21 rating (6 maps)

With four players from Vitality on this list, their teamplay and balance between structure and firepower are clearly paying off. As we head into playoffs, all eyes will be on whether these stars can maintain this level, or if a dark horse will rise.

🤩 donk and kyousuke are two best group stage players in Cologne!

Faze and Falcons?

Team Falcons and FaZe Clan were unable to guarantee a position in the IEM Cologne 2025 Playoffs.

After losing to The MongolZ 2-0 in the Upper Bracket, Team Falcons’ run came to an end. After Team Spirit Academy acquired talented youngster Kyousuke, expectations were high. The rest of the team struggled, but Kyousuke, the second-highest ranked player in the Group Stage, gave an outstanding performance.

🫡 kyousuke tried his best; too bad it wasn’t enough. pic.twitter.com/k22l6O1AVa

— CS2 NEWS (@CS2News_EN) July 30, 2025

Meanwhile, FaZe Clan failed to live up to the hype. Their tournament journey was cut short by two significant losses against NAVI, first in the Group B Upper Bracket Quarterfinals and then in the Group B Lower Bracket Final.

What to Expect…

Will Vitality Retain Their Throne?
Vitality are heavy favourites, betting odds put them in prime position to win it all. But back-to-back overtime threats like FURIA could test their resolve in the semifinals.

Spirit vs The MongolZ
Donk and Spirit have the form to go toe-to-toe with MongolZ, making their semifinal clash one of the most anticipated matches. We see it going to a decider, with Spirit edging out 2‑1 if their momentum holds.

Underdog Stories?
FURIA and MongolZ both defied expectations in group play, but now face veterans like Vitality and NAVI. FURIA’s fate could rest on molodoy’s AWPing; MongolZ must sustain their drive to reach deep.

Alas, we’re expecting a Team Vitality vs Team Spirit Grand Final on August 3. Vitality’s flawless consistency and Spirit’s explosive rise make this the most compelling finale storyline. We see Vitality winning 3‑1, but a tight final is absolutely possible.
