MOUZ have confirmed a major shake-up of their CS2 roster, signing Justinas “jL” Lekavicius on a short-term loan from Natus Vincere and promoting MOUZ NXT prospect Adrian “xelex” Vincze to the main team. Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin and Jimi “Jimpphat” Salo have both been benched, while Dorian “xertioN” Berman steps up as the new in-game leader. The catch: Major Supplemental Rulebook restrictions mean jL cannot debut at IEM Cologne, so Brollan returns for that event only.

We are making the following roster changes effective immediately. Our roster will be as follows for the next three tournaments:

The announcement, made on 19 April 2026, ends weeks of speculation about how MOUZ would respond to a steep dip in form after more than a year as one of the most consistent teams in Counter-Strike.

The New MOUZ Roster Explained

The changes take effect immediately, but MOUZ will run two slightly different lineups across the next three tournaments because of Major rules. jL slots in for the Asian swing at PGL Astana 2026 and CS Asia Championships, while Brollan returns as a one-event substitute at IEM Cologne before officially leaving the organisation.

xelex, xertioN, torzsi and Spinx are the four constants across both rosters. xertioN takes over the in-game leader role full-time, with xelex stepping into the pack opener slot that xertioN previously occupied.

xertioN

Dennis “sycrone” Nielsen remains in the coaching seat across all three events.

Why jL Cannot Play The Cologne Major

The split-roster situation comes down to the Major Supplemental Rulebook. Teams are locked into the lineup that was listed on the invite VRS from 6 April, and they are only permitted one change through a substitute. MOUZ have used that substitute slot to bring Brollan back for Cologne, which means jL has to sit the event out despite already being a signed player.

MOUZ explained the unusual timing as a deliberate choice to give the new lineup a head start rather than wait for a cleaner window after the Major. The organisation said confidence in the previous roster’s ability to bounce back had run out, and that prioritising preparation for the next competitive cycle outweighed keeping the existing five intact for one more tournament.

Brollan And Jimpphat’s Exit

The decision to move on from Brollan is the more delicate of the two. He was the player who took on in-game leadership duties after Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek was removed in early 2025, and that transition kicked off the run that saw MOUZ reach at least the semi-finals at 13 of 15 events between early 2025 and early 2026.

That stretch ended sharply. The team has missed the top four at three consecutive events, capped by a last-place finish at BLAST Open Rotterdam last month.

This decision is not fair to him on a personal level. But leadership sometimes means accepting that fairness and necessity are not always the same thing.

That line came from sycrone in his statement on the changes, acknowledging Brollan’s role in the team’s previous success while explaining the call to bench him. Brollan will leave the organisation entirely after the Cologne Major, and his replacement has not yet been announced. Jimpphat has already been removed from the active roster.

xelex’s Promotion From MOUZ NXT

xelex’s call-up continues a now-familiar pattern at MOUZ, where the academy team has steadily fed the main roster. xertioN and torzsi both came through the same pipeline, and xelex now joins them after a year and a half in MOUZ NXT.

The Hungarian rifler put up a 1.21 average rating across 154 maps in 2026, a workload that landed him in the top 15 of HLTV’s Prospects series as of last month. MOUZ’s CBDO Jan Dominicus framed the promotion as consistent with the organisation’s preference for in-house development, calling xelex a player aligned with that philosophy.

jL’s Return To Tier-One CS

For jL, the loan deal is his first appearance on a professional roster since he stepped down from Natus Vincere in July last year to take time away from the game. The trial spans only the Asian swing for now, with Astana opening on 7 May.

Dominicus said the team is looking for jL to bring initiative in tough situations and to lift the squad’s communication, two areas the organisation appears to feel were lacking. Whether that short window is enough to convert the loan into something permanent will likely depend on how the new five gel before the post-Major reset.

What Comes After Cologne

The Cologne Major is the closing chapter for the current era of MOUZ as much as it is the next event on the calendar. Brollan walks away, jL’s loan ends without a guaranteed extension, and MOUZ still need to lock in a fifth player for whatever the next competitive cycle looks like. The Astana and Asia Championships campaigns will effectively serve as the audition window for the version of MOUZ that follows.

With a mix of adjusted dates, cancellations, and new event placements, the move aims to keep competitive integrity intact while giving teams enough breathing room to travel, prepare, and compete without burnout.

Why PGL Changed the 2026 CS2 Calendar

In March 2024, PGL publicly announced its 2026 CS2 calendar. Months later, another tournament organiser locked in overlapping dates for the majority of its 2026 events. This created direct conflicts for teams, fans, and broadcast schedules.

Rather than running headfirst into a scheduling war, PGL opted to modify multiple events to avoid forcing teams to choose between tournaments.

The organiser explained the decision plainly, stating it wants to “ensure the highest competitive standards and respect the logistical needs of teams and players.”

Updated Schedule for PGL CS2 2026

Below is the updated list of confirmed PGL events for 2026, along with the latest changes.

PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026

February 9–22, 2026 | Romania | $1.25m prize pool

The year begins with Cluj-Napoca, bringing together 16 top-tier CS2 teams. The final three days return to BTArena for a full live crowd, continuing the atmosphere fans embraced at the 2025 event.

PGL Bucharest 2026

April 3–11, 2026 | Romania | $1.25m prize pool

Bucharest will now end one day earlier, on April 11, to help teams travel to their next event on another continent. This adjustment addresses a head-to-head conflict created by another organiser scheduling directly over PGL’s original dates.

PGL Astana 2026 + CS Asia Championships 2026

May 7–17, 2026 | Kazakhstan | $1.6m prize pool
May 19–24, 2026 | Shanghai, China | CAC 2026

Astana returns with a major Tier 1 event hosted partly at the Barys Arena. Only two days separate PGL Astana from CAC 2026, so PGL and Perfect World are working together to make travel and scheduling seamless.

Teams competing in both can fight for a combined $2.6 million across the two tournaments.

Cancelled: Early October 2026 Event

PGL has officially cancelled its early-October event after a full overlap with ESL Pro League Season 24. This marks the second scrapped event for the year, following the removal of PGL’s planned August tournament due to the expansion of the Esports World Cup.

New Event Window: October 22 – November 2, 2026

Replacing the cancelled early-October tournament, PGL will run a new Tier 1 CS2 event between October 22 and November 2. The update no longer references Belgrade, the originally announced location. More details are expected soon.

A Pattern of Constant Adjustments

This isn’t the first time PGL has been forced to shift its schedule.

In September 2025, PGL pushed forward the end date of Masters Bucharest to ensure teams could attend IEM Chengdu 2025 without travel delays. Even looking ahead, PGL and BLAST already have overlapping tournament windows in early January 2027.

Despite following Valve’s tournament operation guidelines, PGL continues to juggle overlapping events, competitive fairness, and the changing landscape of CS2 scheduling.

Community Reactions: Frustration, Support, and a Scheduling “Cold War”

The community response has been intense, with fans on both sides of the ESL vs PGL divide voicing their frustrations online.

Some players and fans see PGL as being pushed around, often cancelling events while ESL expands aggressively. Comments like “wt* ESL, again PGL is bullied” and “PGL is so spineless” reflect this sentiment.

Others argue that ESL has simply earned its dominant position. One fan wrote that “ESL is CS esports… nothing compares to ESL, whether you like them or not,” praising Cologne, Katowice, and the Intel Grand Slam as unmatched esports staples.

Production quality was another major talking point. Many criticised PGL’s past broadcast issues, with one user saying “PGL has the worst production by far”, while others countered that ESL’s expansions are making the ecosystem increasingly monopolistic.

There were also broader discussions about:

Valve’s lack of regulation, with calls for the publisher to step in and prevent calendar monopolies.

Saudi investment in ESL/EFG, sparking debates about financial ethics, sustainability, and the future of esports governance.

Ticket pricing, as fans pointed out that PGL’s Astana pricing is nearly identical to Cologne and Katowice despite the region’s lower average income.

Fears for smaller organisers, who now struggle even more to find open calendar windows.

And of course, in typical CS community fashion, there were comedic reactions like “Get well soon” and “SPUNJ: They needed time to give birth to this decision”.

Overall, the discussion shows a divided but deeply passionate fanbase watching the tug-of-war between tournament organisers unfold in real time.

Looking Ahead to the Rest of 2026 and Beyond

PGL says more information on the late-October 2026 event is coming soon, alongside long-term plans for 2027 and 2028. Despite cancellations and conflicts, the organiser remains committed to running major CS2 tournaments worldwide.

Whether the ongoing scheduling conflicts escalate or stabilise will depend on how tournament operators and Valve approach the increasingly crowded competitive calendar.

One thing is certain, though. CS2 fans can expect a lively, globally spread, and sometimes chaotic season in 2026.

Their collaboration is seen as a strategic step forward in expanding the competitive reach of Counter-Strike 2, especially across Asia’s fast-growing esports scene.

Community Reactions

Fans have taken to social media and community boards with a mix of excitement and curiosity.
While the exact location for the 2027 edition has yet to be revealed, Shanghai, China, remains the most likely host city given that previous tournaments, including the upcoming CAC 2026, set for May 18–24, are also scheduled to be held there.

A Growing Tournament Legacy

The Counter-Strike Asia Championships (CAC) have grown rapidly since their inception, evolving from an eight-team event into a 16-team international competition featuring top-tier organisations from across the globe. The 2025 edition marked a turning point for the series, featuring intense matches and surprise upsets that helped solidify CAC’s reputation as one of the must-watch events on the CS2 calendar.

For context, Team Liquid fell to 3DMAX in the semifinals of the 2025 tournament, while Legacy Esports delivered a stunning comeback in the grand final to claim their first major trophy, cementing their place among the world’s elite.

Looking Ahead to 2027

With CAC 2026 already confirmed for Shanghai and CAC 2027 following closely behind, Perfect World’s long-term commitment to the Counter-Strike scene is clear. Fans can expect more details on the venue, participating teams, and format as the event approaches.

Whether 2027 will bring another breakout story like Legacy’s rise remains to be seen, but one thing’s certain, the Counter-Strike Asia Championships are here to stay and will continue shaping the future of competitive CS2 in the region.

Ancient – Brazilian Brilliance Seals the Deal

By the time the series reached Ancient, 3DMAX seemed out of gas. latto and Eduardo “dumau” Wolkmer went into overdrive, storming through the French lines with explosive CT aggression. Legacy’s tempo proved too much, closing the map 13–6 and lifting the organisation’s first international trophy.

MVP Contenders and Standout Players

While HLTV hasn’t yet confirmed an official MVP, latto’s dominant showing makes him a clear frontrunner. He posted a +20 K/D differential and a 1.19 rating, with Vinicius “n1ssim” Pereira close behind at 1.26.

On the 3DMAX side, bodyy stood tall despite the loss, finishing with a 1.11 rating and proving once again why his veteran experience is invaluable to the French lineup.

Reactions From the Community

The Counter-Strike community erupted in celebration as Brazilian fans flooded social media with praise and memes.

“Two Brazilian international titles in one year, and maybe even more coming? We’re so back!” wrote one fan. Another added, “Legacy winning before NiP is wild, congrats though!”

Many also credited Bestia’s visa issues earlier in the season for indirectly paving the way for Legacy’s participation in the event, spawning the viral joke: “Thanks Bestia.”

Even former pros chimed in. “I’m happy to watch BR CS being relevant again,” said one fan referencing the glory days of LG and SK Gaming. “This feels like 2017 all over again.”

A New Era for Brazilian CS

Legacy’s triumph isn’t just another trophy. It’s a statement that Brazilian Counter-Strike is once again on the rise, with fresh talent and renewed energy ready to challenge the established elite.

With stars like latto, dumau, and n1ssim leading the charge, and the team’s chemistry finally clicking, Legacy could be the next South American squad to break into the global top ten.

As one HLTV user aptly put it, “Legacy are looking more like MongolZ 2.0. With consistency, they can become a top team.”

What’s Next for Legacy

Following their CS Asia Championships success, Legacy’s sights are now set on the Thunderpick World Championship and upcoming RMR qualifiers. With their confidence soaring and momentum on their side, the team will aim to solidify their place among the world’s best.

Whether this victory marks the start of a true Legacy era or just a flash of brilliance remains to be seen, but one thing’s certain, Brazilian Counter-Strike is back in business.
