Today, Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe introduced two new characters, a new location as well as bosses for the upcoming action-RPG CODE VEIN.

Yakumo is revealed as a new buddy character. He proves to be an experienced fighter who positions himself in front of the enemy to protect his allies. The Drain Attack, which is performed by his Hounds, makes him a strong companion. Back in the past when he was still human, Mido used him for his cruel experiments. This is why Yakumo despises him even today. Emily Su is also introduced as another new character. She formed a deep bond with Yakumo, because, just like him, she was trapped in the military facility where Mido experimented on her. After she was separated from Yakumo by the Great Collapse, he sets out in search of her.

Moreover, the City of Falling Flame is unveiled as a new location. This city is left in ruins and haunted by an eternal fire. This threat turns everything that is left into ashes. The Thorns of Judgment wind their way through the whole city and players have to avoid obstacles like huge walls of flames and therefore explore everything carefully. The Lost called Blazing Radical, who reminds of a knight, is not the only creature that hides in the flames.

Apart from that, the Successor of the Claw is revealed as a major boss in CODE VEIN. It is a fearsome creature that covers its face with a mask and wields a terrific, burning sword. That’s why it is up to the player to always be on guard and avoid its sweeping attacks. Also, this boss can burn the player if he gets too close to his claws and its two tails.

CODE VEIN is a third-person action RPG that set players into the role of a Revenant.

These immortal soldiers were created to counter the threat of mankind that appeared after the Great Collapse, a catastrophic event eradicating most of the population. By injecting human corpses with the Biological Organ Regenerative Parasite, they were brought back from the dead, gaining superhuman capabilities and the ability to revive after death as long their heart stays intact at the cost of losing their memories. Players are tasked to embark into the world with a companion picked from the various residents of Vein to uncover their memories and an exit out of this new demented reality.

CODE VEIN will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via STEAM in 2018.

Today, Bandai Namco revealed information about a new character named Mido, new features, weapons and the introduction of partner action in the upcoming action-RPG CODE VEIN.

Before the Great Collapse, Mido adopted orphans to conduct barbaric experiments on them and sent his “experiments” to the battlefields. For those experiments he used parts of his body as material to reinforce them and make himself a superior Revenant. A group of reinforced Revenants surround Mido and by their force, they can stop the attacks of Yakumo. Although Mido is already extremely powerful, he continues to strive for power and strength. What could his intention be?

Besides Mido, another innovation is the new Combo Drain, which is executed with a weapon immediately after an enemy attack. Bayonet combos get well-spaced while attacking. Combo drain takes advantage of long reach Stinger characteristic. Combo-Drain can also be used immediately after a launch attack, allowing the user to hit his opponents with this powerful combo attack while he is still in the air.

In addition, numerous weapons will be available in CODE VEIN. The one-handed sword has the special attack of the Sunset Sword, which lets the user jump over his opponent and swing the sword down. The charged attacks of Broadsword and Hanemukuro have a strong influence on opponents. The two-handed sword’s special attack Zweihander is a far-reaching stab attack, which is executed while the user advances to his opponent. Nagimukuro and Warped Blade are attacks that are characteristic of a two-handed sword due to their great movement.

CODE VEIN will also feature partner action with the characters Mia and Louis, which allows new and different opportunities in battles. Both, Mia and Louis, use different ways of the Combo Drain and the partner will assist the protagonist. When the protagonist stops, the partner will watch the surrounding for items and enemies.

Just released by BandaiNamco is the very first teaser for the upcoming dark fantasy title, Code Vein.

The new trailer (above) highlights the mysterious and captivating universe along with a quick look at the challenging weapon-based combat found in Code Vein. The trailer also teases the companion gameplay mechanic.

As players venture out into the world, they will be able to choose a partner companion from the various residents of Vein. Added strategy presents itself when players choose companions that complements their play style to give them a fighting chance against the vicious enemies they’ll be up against through their journey.

This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity.

In this challenging action-RPG, CODE VEIN finds players assuming the role of a Revenant. After stumbling into Vein, players are tasked to embark into the world with a companion picked from the various residents of Vein to uncover lost memories and an exit out of this new demented reality. The world of CODE VEIN is dangerous, full of vicious enemies and monstrous bosses to put players’ combat skills to the test. 

Revenants also have access to Blood Veils, devices capable of draining the blood of their enemies in order to enhance their own abilities. Exploiting these enhanced abilities known as Gifts, players can change their form to increase their strength, weaken enemies, and utilize new weapon abilities with overpowered attacks. Utilizing the vast array of weaponry along with each character’s Gift, players can adapt and strategize to a variety of battle conditions that suit their play styles.
