Chinese esports organisation Team Tidebound has officially announced its exit from the Dota 2 competitive scene, confirming the club will transition into an inactive state with immediate effect. The announcement was shared via Weibo on December 25, marking the end of the organisation’s short but impactful run in professional Dota 2.

A Difficult Decision for the Club

In its official statement, Team Tidebound said the decision followed extensive internal discussions by management and was made with deep regret. The organisation cited the current CN Dota talent environment and long term development considerations as key factors behind the move.

Despite being active for less than a year, the club emphasised that the decision was not taken lightly, describing it as a necessary step based on the realities of the regional competitive landscape and future prospects.

Strong Results in a Short Lifespan

Although brief, Team Tidebound’s competitive journey included several standout moments. The team quickly gained attention after debuting at the DreamLeague Season 25 China Open Qualifier, where it secured multiple qualifier victories and earned spots at international events such as PGL Wallachia Season 3 and ESL One Raleigh 2025.

Their biggest achievement came with a championship win at the Clavision Masters 2025 Snow Ruyi, followed by a runner up finish at the Asian Champions League 2025. The organisation also qualified for The International 2025 in Hamburg, advancing to the playoff stage before being eliminated by Nigma Galaxy.

Star Players and a Respected Roster

Team Tidebound’s lineup featured some of the most respected names in Chinese Dota 2, including The International 2016 and Riyadh Masters 2022 champion Zhang y` Yiping, alongside Zhang Faith_bian Ruida.

The club paid tribute to its players and coaching staff, thanking them for countless hours of training, travel, and competition, and acknowledging the role they played in the organisation’s most memorable moments.

Where the Players Are Heading Next

Following the announcement, most of Team Tidebound’s roster has already secured new opportunities ahead of the 2026 season. Support players y` and Lin “planet” Hao, as well as carry Guo “shiro” Xuanang, have joined Vici Gaming. Midlaner Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang has transferred to Xtreme Gaming.

Both Vici Gaming and Xtreme Gaming are set to return to competition at ESL Challenger China, scheduled to take place from January 30 to February 1. Offlaner Faith_bian has not yet announced his next destination.

In its farewell message, Team Tidebound also extended thanks to its fans, partners, and sponsors, crediting their support as a driving force during both highs and lows. While the organisation’s competitive banner has been lowered for now, the club stated its passion for esports remains unchanged.
