CGN Esports’ run in the Prime League Division 1 has come to an abrupt end, and it’s not because of what happened in-game.

The German squad, led by popular jungler and streamer Muhammed “Agurin” Kocak, has been disqualified after repeatedly failing to submit an eligible roster. The league confirmed the decision in a lengthy statement, saying the team breached lineup rules in four of their five most recent matches.

English translation: pic.twitter.com/1xLnUEoWcP

— Die Techniker Prime League (@PrimeLeague) August 9, 2025

This wasn’t a one-off slip-up, either. On opening day, CGN got to play with a different lineup than the one they’d submitted. By matchday three, they needed an emergency sub to even get on stage, Typhoon stepped in for the jungle role that day. At that point, the punishments were relatively mild, like losing draft bans.

But by matchdays four and five, things went completely off the rails. CGN once again couldn’t field a valid roster, forfeiting both series against Eintracht Spandau and Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition. That broke the league’s rules on consecutive forfeits, meaning an automatic disqualification.

The fallout
The penalties are pretty brutal:

All season points wiped to zero

No spot in the Prime League Season Finals or EMEA Masters Summer Split

Automatic relegation to Division 2

A financial fine on top of it all

Prime League said they looked at other options but decided disqualification was the only fair call for teams that actually stuck to the rules.

To fill the now-vacant playoff slot, a Last Chance Qualifier will take place between AFW and Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition. That match will decide who gets to join the post-season race.

The reaction
Agurin’s already hinted on X (Twitter) that CGN’s side of the story hasn’t been fully heard, with a more detailed statement on the way. Still, the public mood is… not exactly sympathetic. Many fans on Reddit are calling it a self-inflicted disaster, pointing out that CGN had eight eligible players yet still couldn’t submit a proper lineup for a single matchday each week.

As with the previous statement, it appears to us that certain relevant information and context have not yet been provided by the league, despite our efforts to clarify these matters together. We are preparing a transparent and objective statement. https://t.co/s0sxNilWZq

— Momo (@Agurinlol) August 9, 2025

Whether you think the punishment’s too harsh or completely deserved, one thing’s clear: CGN’s summer is over before it even really got going. And unless something changes fast, they’ll be starting next year in Division 2.
