It’s official, Yangon Galacticos are the kings of PUBG MOBILE.

After a dramatic three-day showdown in Riyadh, Myanmar’s Yangon Galacticos have taken out the PMWC 2025 (PUBG MOBILE World Cup), part of this year’s massive Esports World Cup in Saudi Arabia. Not only does this mark their first-ever global title, but it’s also the first time a team from Myanmar has clinched an EWC championship.

From Underdogs to Unstoppable

Their road to victory was anything but straightforward. Yangon Galacticos barely scraped through the group stage in 11th place, sending them into the high-pressure Survival Stage, a brutal cutthroat round where only the top eight would advance. In the tightest of margins, they squeezed into the Grand Finals in 8th, just one point above the cutoff.

But once they got there, something clicked.

On Day One of the finals, YG came out swinging. With two chicken dinners, plus a 2nd and 4th place finish, they rocketed up the leaderboard. Their momentum carried over to Day Two with another two wins and a solid run of placements that left them sitting on top heading into the final day.

The Smash Rule Twist

Day Three introduced the Smash Rule, a unique twist where teams had to surpass the top points score by at least 10, and then win a match, to take the crown.

YG were the first team to hit the match point target, joined not long after by Alpha Gaming and Weibo Gaming, both hot on their heels. But none of them could close it out with a match win, meaning the title would come down to total points.

In the end, Yangon Galacticos held on with 157 points, outlasting Weibo Gaming on 142 and Alpha Gaming on 141.

With that, they walked away with USD $500,000 in prize money, plus another $47,000 from earlier stages, bringing their total haul to $547,000. Not bad for a team many thought wouldn’t make the finals.

MVP Goes to Mongolia’s DOK

While Alpha Gaming fell just short of the win, Uuganbayar “DOK” Dulguun walked away with individual honours. The Mongolian player racked up a staggering 31 eliminations, earning him the SONY MVP award and a tidy $10,000 in prize money.
