A few years back now PlayStation split up their subscription service, PlayStation Plus, in to differing levels.

If you’re a casual gamer, the lower monthly subscription called ‘Essentials’ may be the one for you. This gets you monthly games, online multiplayer, and exclusive discounts at a low monthly price. Or ramp up your PlayStation gaming with two more options offering up an expansive virtual play buffet.  ‘Extra’ adds a game catalog of downloadable PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 titles.

A ‘Deluxe’ aka ‘Premium’ 12 month subscription includes all the benefits of ‘Essential’ and ‘Extra’, plus a catalog of classic games from older PlayStation consoles (PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP) and game trials. If you live in a region that does not have cloud streaming, ‘Premium’ is listed as ‘Deluxe’.

PlayStation Plus does a couple of other things too.

Get yourself online and battle against other like-minded players. Secondly, your precious game data and game saves upload to the cloud, saving storage space on your console.

This is especially great if you change or upgrade your console, say a PS4 to PS5 or to a PS5 Pro.

No need for timely external hard drive backups.

The games catalogue on offer is vast and varied catering to every genre. PlayStation are also releasing some the their old catalogue with an ever growing Classic library. All free to play for the length of your subscription.

Is a PlayStation Plus sub worth it?

It sure is. The subscription service unleashes the power of PlayStation, expands your game library for the duration of your subscription and it gets you social as you race, fight or team up with the players around the world.

Konami has announced Silent Hill f is set in 1960s Japan, where horror and psychological tension intertwine in an unforgettable narrative to find beauty in terror.

A new trailer offers a first glimpse at the creatures and combat in Silent Hill f. The game follows Shimizu Hinako, a teenage girl struggling under society’s pressure of expectations, as she navigates her hometown of Ebisugaoka now shrouded in fog and undergoing a disturbing transformation. Players will have to unravel mysteries, battle otherworldly threats, and come face-to-face with choices that will determine Hinako’s fate.

In the remote mountain town of Ebisugaoka, teenager Shimizu Hinako leads an unremarkable life, until a thick fog descends, transforming her once-familiar home into a desolate and terrifying place. With the town seemingly abandoned and an unknown, creeping menace lurking in the mist, Hinako must navigate the spectral remnants of her past, solve intricate puzzles, and battle horrifying entities to survive. Faced with impossible decisions, she must ultimately choose between beauty and madness, confronting the horrors that await within the fog.

Silent Hill f will challenge players with uncomfortable themes and their attached psychological torment. The game reflects the customs and culture of Japan during that era while delivering an intense and deeply emotional horror experience.

Silent Hill f will launch on 25th September 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

PlayStation is commemorating The Last of Us franchise with a first look at the DualSense wireless controller – The Last of Us Limited Edition.

Created in close collaboration with the creative team at Naughty Dog, this striking design features glossy trophy icons printed across the surface that call back to key moments, characters, and events from The Last of Us Part I and The Last of Us Part II.

PlayStation has shared this new design with the community during an especially exciting time for new and old TLOU fans alike. In the coming months, PC players will be able to continue the acclaimed story of this iconic franchise with The Last of Us Part II Remastered, launching on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, releasing on the 4th of April, 2025.

Fans can also follow Joel, Ellie, and Abby’s emotional journeys in the highly anticipated second season of The Last of Us, premiering in April 2025 on Max.

Under the full Wolf Moon, Rebel Wolves revealed the first look into the world of The Blood of Dawnwalker, its action RPG.

The studio, co-founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set the game in an alternative 14th century, where feudal lords have been overthrown by a clique of powerful vampires. In this narrative sandbox players will forge their own story about saving their family… or taking whatever path their choices lead them down.

14th century Europe. Bloody conflicts sweep the lands, and the Black Death comes for the survivors. In the wake of the disasters claiming thousands of lives, the decimated human population struggles for survival. It’s a moment of weakness. In Vale Sangora, somewhere in the forgotten corner of the Carpathian Mountains, vampires seize their opportunity to walk out of the shadows, overthrow the feudal lords and claim what they’ve been denied for centuries: freedom, and ultimate power that comes with it. Legends turn into reality, and history as we know it will never be the same.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is the first chapter of the Rebel Wolves’ original dark fantasy saga. You play as Coen, a young man turned into a Dawnwalker, forever treading the line between the world of day and the realm of night. Not fully human, not entirely a vampire, you have 30 days and nights to save your family, or swear revenge on your sire and destroy everyone standing in your way.

The Blood of Dawnwalker opening cinematic, taking place two years before the game, and meet Coen, his sister Lunka and the vampire clique led by their ruthless yet charismatic lord, Brencis.

“Inspired by classic RPGs, we want players to feel the sense of urgency in an open world game. The freedom in gameplay is reflected in Coen’s very nature as a Dawnwalker. Depending on the time of day, players will have different skills, abilities and storyline outcomes.  Players must choose: do they fight for humanity or embrace the cursed powers?

Capcom has revealed Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

The action game is an all-new adventure in the classic Onimusha franchise. The series’ first new instalment in nearly two decades, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, returns to a dark fantasy feudal Japan where samurai clash with the supernatural in cutting-edge combat.

Onimusha is rooted in the Sengoku period, Japan’s legendary age of warring states. The games infuse history with Japanese folklore to tell tales of warriors who wield the mystical power of the Oni. These heroes are drawn into conflict with the Genma, relentless monsters hellbent on conquering the world. Intergalactic stars our newest protagonist, Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. In fact, anyone who’s flown to it hoping to unravel its mysterious past was never heard from again. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.
