Marvel’s Wolverine: Comic-Con Trailer Confirms Deathstrike, The Hand for Sept 15 Launch

San Diego Comic-Con’s gaming week closed out with Insomniac Games saving one of its biggest cards for last: a brand-new story trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine that locks in villains, a composer and a surprise crossover ahead of the PS5 exclusive’s September 15 launch. The reveal came during a dedicated Hall H panel on July 23, according to Sony’s own PlayStation Blog, with independent coverage from Deadline and Collider confirming the same details from the show floor.

Story Trailer Puts Logan and Jean Grey Front and Center

Insomniac surprised fans with a brand-new story trailer during its panel, setting the stage with an enraged Logan confronting Jean Grey in an abrupt moment of vulnerability. The panel offered the biggest look yet at Logan’s next adventure, confirming the game’s central conflict, expanding on Jean Grey’s role, and confirming that Marvel’s Wolverine is set in Earth-1048, the same universe as Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man games.

The trailer reveals that Marvel’s Wolverine centers on a fight for mutant survival, with Logan joining forces with Jean Grey to protect vulnerable mutants against a growing list of threats. Krizia Bajos, who voices Jean Grey, told the Hall H crowd this is “a Jean Grey that we’ve never seen before.”

Deathstrike, The Hand and Bolivar Trask Round Out the Rogues Gallery

Insomniac also spotlighted The Hand as one of the game’s new enemy factions, alongside Deathstrike, described as one of the story’s big bads. Deadline reported that other reveals included The Hand and Lady Deathstrike shaping the storyline, with Deathstrike called a “formidable foe against Logan” and The Hand described as an “assassin group of warriors with a mysterious past that will be connected to Logan somehow,” as Logan’s journey leads him to Japan.

Beyond those two, the trailer’s official description confirms Wolverine will fight alongside Team X while confronting villains including Bolivar Trask and Omega Red, as well as organisations like The Reavers and The Hand. Team X itself gets fleshed out on-screen too: the footage shows more members of the black-ops group, including Sabretooth, Mystique and Sunfire.

Emmy Winner David Fleming Scores His First Video Game

Emmy-winning composer David Fleming, known for Widow’s Bay, Superman and HBO’s The Last of Us, was revealed as the game’s composer, marking his video game composing debut with the main title theme “Logan,” now available on all music platforms. Fleming’s score is designed to deliver enormous impact to the story, with musical cues and swells that dynamically shift alongside Logan’s intense journey around the globe.

The full game soundtrack is set for release on August 28, 2026. Fans wanting a story primer before launch also got one: a prequel comic written by Insomniac’s Narrative Director Walt Williams, with art by Luke Ross and a cover by Iban Coello, sets up Logan’s arduous relationship with members of Team X on a mission to protect mutantkind.

Battle Reborn Suit Links Wolverine to Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls

Insomniac used the panel to tie its solo adventure to Arc System Works’ upcoming fighter as well. The studio announced a collaboration with Arc System Works, letting players unlock Wolverine’s costume from Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls through gameplay in Marvel’s Wolverine from day one, while the Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Reborn Suit will be added to Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls as a free costume for all players beginning September 1.

The crossover lands just weeks after Marvel Tōkon’s own Comic-Con panel confirmed Phoenix Cyclops as its first Year 1 DLC fighter, underlining how tightly Sony and Marvel Games are now threading their PlayStation-published superhero lineup together heading into the northern autumn.

What Comic-Con Week Means for the September 15 Countdown

Marvel’s Wolverine remains a PlayStation 5 exclusive with no PC version currently planned, and the standard edition is listed at US $69.99, with a $79.99 Digital Deluxe tier that bundles extra suits and claw sets. For Kiwi and Australian PlayStation owners, the day-and-date global launch model Sony has used for its recent first-party titles, including this year’s God of War Laufey, means a September 15 release should hold locally as well, though regional pricing and store listings will firm up closer to launch.

With Comic-Con wrapping on July 26, the Wolverine reveal capped a week that also saw God of War Laufey and Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls take their own turns in PlayStation’s Hall H spotlight, giving Sony three separate story-driven showcases inside a single convention. For a slate built almost entirely around single-player blockbusters, that kind of concentrated messaging suggests PlayStation is treating this Comic-Con as the unofficial kickoff for its holiday push.
