Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game’s Full 12-Character Launch Roster Confirmed

The complete launch roster for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game has been locked in, confirming twelve playable characters ahead of the game’s July 23 release. The final wave of reveals, first detailed at Evo 2026, closed out months of drip-fed character announcements pulled from both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.

The full base roster for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is made up of 12 characters — Aang, Korra, Zuko, Katara, Toph, Sokka, Azula, Zaheer, Fire Lord Ozai, Kyoshi, Avatar State Aang and Avatar State Korra. Series mainstays Aang, Korra, Zuko, Katara, Toph, Sokka and Azula had already been shown off in earlier gameplay reveals, leaving Ozai, Zaheer, Kyoshi and the two Avatar State variants as the last pieces of the puzzle to fall into place.

Two Avatar States and a firebender-heavy villain lineup

Rather than treating Avatar State as a temporary transformation, developer Gameplay Group International has split it into its own dedicated roster slots for both Aang and Korra, giving players a distinct heightened-power version of each Avatar alongside their base forms. Avatar Kyoshi rounds out the Avatar lineage as a third playable Avatar-state fighter drawn from the earlier era of the franchise’s timeline.

On the antagonist side, Fire Lord Ozai and Azula give the cast a distinctly firebending-heavy villain wing, while Zaheer brings an airbending moveset built around his Legend of Korra-era Red Lotus background rather than the traditional airbending style used by Aang. Before the character select screen was fully locked, outlets had already spotted early icons for Ozai and Zaheer during a Story Mode preview stream, confirming their inclusion weeks ahead of the official unveiling.

Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong and Bolin lead the Year 1 Pass

Beyond the launch twelve, publisher PM Studios and developer Gameplay Group confirmed a Year 1 Pass adding five further fighters over the game’s first season. Players who purchase or pre-order the Deluxe Edition will receive a digital art book, music soundtrack, unique HUDs and the Year 1 Pass, which includes Bolin, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, Uncle Iroh, and an additional character to be decided through a limited-time community vote.

The fifth DLC slot is being left entirely up to the community. The limited-time community vote will be open exclusively to fans who pre-order the game, with eligible players choosing between five fan-favorite potential characters: Amon, Kuvira, Bumi, Asami or Tenzin. Each candidate comes from The Legend of Korra, giving that half of the franchise a heavier post-launch presence than the base roster’s mostly Last Airbender-skewed cast.

Every fighter carries three selectable support characters

The twelve-character count undersells just how much cast the game is actually shipping with. Every fighter has three support characters at their side too — selectable allies for any roster fighter to pick before a match, with each one changing that fighter’s abilities in some way. As one outlet put it, “Toph can select the Hippo wrestler from the Earth Kingdom to improve her stone pillar special move, giving them extra properties for extended combos.”

That system effectively triples the number of recognisable Avatar faces appearing in-game without turning them into full playable fighters, letting figures like Suki, Mai or Naga show up as tactical assists rather than headline roster slots.

Release date, price and platforms

The Standard Edition of Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is set to launch July 23 for $29.99 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, with full cross-play support available at launch. That date is itself a shift from the game’s original plan; the title was pushed back from an earlier July 2 target to its final July 23 slot, according to the game’s production notes. The physical edition, published by PM Studios, arrives later this year alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 version, with both Standard and Deluxe Editions available for collectors and fans.

Pre-order buyers get more than just early access to the roster vote. Players who pre-order will receive access to the closed beta running from July 2 to 5, gold color variants for Aang, Korra, Zuko, Katara, Toph, and Sokka, as well as the Samurai Appa support character skin. No New Zealand or Australian pricing has been confirmed separately, though the game’s simultaneous digital release across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and Steam should put it in front of regional storefronts on the same July 23 date as the rest of the world.

With Avatar Legends built on the elemental identity of its source shows and backed by rollback netcode for online play, the roster reveal effectively answers the biggest outstanding question ahead of launch: who’s actually in the box. What’s left now is whether a 12-fighter base cast, padded out by support characters and a five-strong DLC season, is enough to hold a competitive scene together against far larger established fighters.
