Beast of Reincarnation PC: Full Key and Controller Remapping Confirmed at Launch

Beast of Reincarnation, Game Freak’s parry-heavy action RPG, launched worldwide on Steam and consoles on August 4, 2026 with a PC control menu that lets players fully remap keyboard, mouse and controller inputs rather than locking them into a fixed console-style layout. Independent hands-on testing from RPG Site confirms the Steam build ships with rebindable keys and buttons, separate mouse sensitivity sliders for aiming and general movement, and swappable on-screen prompts for Xbox, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch-style icons, or keyboard and mouse glyphs.

Full Keyboard, Mouse and Controller Remapping Built Into the PC Menu

According to RPG Site’s testing of the build patched on August 1, 2026, PC owners are not stuck with a single control scheme. You can also rebind keys and controller buttons from the menu, and beyond that, Beast of Reincarnation lets you adjust mouse sensitivity across aiming and during normal gameplay across both directions. The outlet also notes that the PC port also has multiple button prompt options including Xbox, PS5, and even Nintendo Switch prompt options in addition to keyboard & mouse prompts.

That level of customisation matters because Beast of Reincarnation’s combat is built around split-second reactions. Steam’s official community channel — where the development team has been posting updates directly to players — confirmed that minimum and recommended specs were added to the store page recently, and the specs that were initially posted had some mistakes, with the new specs listed on the page now correct, though testing cannot cover every possible hardware configuration. Getting the input side right is just as important as hitting those framerate targets, since sloppy bindings can cost a parry window measured in frames.

Console Blueprint: What the Default Inputs Are Built Around

While Game Freak hasn’t published a line-by-line default keyboard chart, the underlying action mapping is easier to picture thanks to a PlayStation Blog hands-on preview published just ahead of launch. On DualSense, the outlet described Emma as equipped with swift sword swipes via R1 that can be chained into a combo, projectile weapons including bolts and arrows that can offer a tinge of resistance when pulled on an adaptive trigger, a nimble dodge with a tap of the Circle button, and a block and parry using L1.

The preview also flagged a signature combo input: Emma’s time slowing Entanglement Overdrive after pressing L3 and R3 together. On PC, that combat loop carries over to mouse buttons and modifier keys, but exactly which key sits where by default is left to each player to confirm and adjust in the in-game menu — which is precisely why the remapping tools RPG Site tested matter so much for anyone building a personal setup around dodge, parry, lock-on and Koo’s command menu.

Steam Deck and ROG Ally: Handheld Controls Work, Performance Doesn’t Quite

For players hoping to take the fight on the road, RPG Site’s Steam Deck and ROG Ally impressions were mixed. The controller layout itself functions fine on handhelds, but Beast of Reincarnation is an Unreal Engine 5 title and those almost always struggle on Steam Deck, with the outlet adding that despite an encouraging first fifteen minutes, the PC handheld experience still needs some work. Anyone planning to play on a Deck or Ally should expect to spend time in the graphics and control menus dialling in settings rather than relying on defaults straight out of the box.

Three Difficulty Modes Change How Forgiving Parry Timing Is

Input remapping isn’t the only lever players have over combat feel. Ahead of launch, Game Freak director Kota Furushima outlined three separate difficulty settings, with reporting noting that Story mode makes parry timing more forgiving and reduces enemy damage compared with Normal and Hard. Combined with adjustable camera lock-on behaviour, that gives keyboard-and-mouse players extra room to compensate if their preferred bindings feel less precise than a controller during the game’s boss-heavy Nushi encounters.

Launch Timing for Kiwi and Aussie Players

Because Beast of Reincarnation unlocked simultaneously worldwide rather than at local midnight, Oceania players had one of the later windows in the rollout. Steam’s own community post explained that the global unlock at 00:00 UTC on August 4 meant the game will unlock Monday evening in the Americas, overnight for Europe, Africa, West Asia, and Central Asia, and Tuesday morning for East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania. For NZ and AU players booting up for the first time this week, that means the control menu — and its keyboard, mouse and controller remapping options — is one of the first things worth checking before diving into Emma and Koo’s opening chapter.
