TMNT: Splintered Fate’s Switch 2 Legendary Edition Launches Oct. 27 With New DLC Hero
Super Evil Megacorp has confirmed that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate is finally getting a proper physical release on Nintendo Switch 2, with the retail “Legendary Edition” locked in for October 27. Gematsu reports the developer will release a physical edition of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate for Switch 2 on October 27, as well as a new downloadable content character to be revealed soon. Pre-orders for the boxed copy went live the same day the announcement dropped.
Legendary Edition Bundles Every DLC Turtle Released So Far
According to RPGamer, the Switch 2 Legendary Edition will release on October 27, 2026, and will include the game; its currently-available Casey Jones & the Junkyard Jam, Metalhead, and Alopex DLC; a brand-new playable character to be revealed at a later date; all current free content updates; and a digital art book. That means anyone picking up the cartridge on day one gets the base roguelike, three previously paid-for fighters, and a mystery fourth character bundled in without having to chase down separate storefront purchases.
Nintendo fan outlet GoNintendo, which also covered the reveal, laid out the same premium line-up, noting Casey Jones & the Junkyard Jam expansion is a brand-new Junkyard level featuring intense boss fights, a fresh narrative and the iconic Casey Jones as a playable character, alongside Metalhead & Alopex playable characters, with Metalhead described as Splintered Fate’s first fully ranged fighter and Alopex as the mutant arctic fox and former ninja assassin who became one of the Turtles’ most trusted allies, both heroes bringing their own unique combat styles to the fight.
A Mystery Fourth DLC Fighter Still Under Wraps
The headline tease is the unnamed “fan-favorite playable character” arriving as part of the package. Multiple outlets, including GoNintendo, repeated Super Evil Megacorp’s own wording that a fan-favorite playable character DLC will be revealed soon, telling fans to stay tuned. No name, artwork or release window for that hero has been confirmed by the studio as of publication, despite lively fan speculation elsewhere online guessing at who it might be.
Alongside the retail news, Super Evil Megacorp published a behind-the-scenes documentary looking back at the game’s development. RPGamer notes the video features contributions from comic book co-author Tom Waltz, voice actors including Yuri Lowenthal and Dominic Catrambone, and members of the development team. The studio also dropped a short teaser trailer hinting at further content still to come this year, though details on that front remain under wraps.
From Apple Arcade Sleeper Hit to a Full Switch 2 Retail Release
Splintered Fate has had an unusually long rollout for a roguelike. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate originally released on Apple Arcade in 2023, with a Nintendo Switch version released in July 2024, followed later by PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 versions. The digital Switch 2 upgrade itself only landed a few months ago: Nintendo Life reported that Super Evil Megacorp announced it would be launching an all-new Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for the TMNT roguelike, with the new version launching on 16th December, either as a standalone purchase or as a paid upgrade pack ($2.49, or regional equivalent) for existing owners.
That digital upgrade already promised sharper visuals and smoother performance; per Nintendo Life, the trailer promised enhanced visuals and frame rate for smooth 4K 60fps play, with resolution dropping to 1080p in handheld, alongside support for local GameShare and GameChat. The new Legendary Edition folds all of that tech into a boxed release for the first time on the platform, giving Switch 2 owners a shelf-ready alternative to buying the DLC piecemeal through the eShop.
Physical Publishing Pedigree and What It Means for Collectors
Splintered Fate already has a track record on store shelves. Nighthawk Interactive previously handled Deluxe and Collector’s physical editions of the game across PlayStation, Xbox and the original Switch, packaging in trading cards, an IDW comic and other collectibles for series fans. Whether Nighthawk or another partner is handling logistics for the new Switch 2 Legendary Edition has not been specified by Super Evil Megacorp, but the format mirrors those earlier retail pushes closely enough that longtime physical-media collectors will know exactly what tier of packaging to expect.
For Australian and New Zealand shoppers who like to grab their roguelikes off a shelf rather than a digital storefront, the October 27 date lines up with the usual spread of Northern Hemisphere retail windows reaching local stores, though neither Super Evil Megacorp nor its retail partners have published ANZ pricing or availability specifics yet. With pre-orders already open through major retailers overseas, local fans keen on a physical Switch 2 copy will want to keep an eye on regional listings as the date approaches.
