Switch eShop Charts: Avatar Legends Fighting Game Debuts at No. 7, Tops Downloads

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game has crashed straight into this week’s Nintendo Switch eShop rankings at No. 7 overall, making it the highest-placed download-only release on the chart for the week of July 25, 2026. The weekly standings, tracked and published by Nintendo Everything, show Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream still comfortably in first place, with Rhythm Heaven Groove holding steady at No. 2.

Avatar Legends breaks into the top ten after a bumpy Switch launch

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game came out recently and it seems to be doing fairly well so far, currently sitting at No. 7 overall while being the top download-only title, even as Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream continues to lead the pack. That’s a solid showing for a licensed fighter that only reached Nintendo Switch this week following a chaotic rollout.

Nintendo Life reported that the launch on Nintendo’s original Switch arrived with some unwelcome asterisks. In a last-minute notice, developers confirmed that crossplay will not be available in this particular version of the title at launch, meaning players wanting to face other platforms would need to boot up another version, and Switch users also won’t have access to the Deluxe Edition at launch or language localisation beyond English. The same notice revealed the Xbox version had also been pushed back, a decision the site’s readership was quick to criticise given the timing.

Complicating matters further, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of the fighter did not launch alongside the original Switch version. Nintendo Everything separately confirmed with the development team that the Nintendo Switch 2 version won’t be ready until later in 2026, despite the game being a launch that has been a bit confusing, with no clear communication about what was happening on Nintendo platforms, even as a social media post just days earlier mentioned pre-orders for PS5, Xbox and PC but not Nintendo Switch.

Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven Groove keep their grip on the top two spots

Elsewhere on the chart, nothing has changed at the very top. Nintendo Everything’s tracking confirms Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream does lead the pack again, so nothing new there, while Rhythm Heaven Groove hasn’t really shown any signs of slowing down either and remains at No. 2. Tomodachi Life has now spent the vast majority of its post-launch life at No. 1, only briefly ceding top spot to Rhythm Heaven Groove around its own release in early July.

The rest of the overall top 15 for the week of July 25 reads: Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, Rhythm Heaven Groove, Minecraft, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Party Jamboree, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, Nintendo Switch Sports, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Pokemon FireRed, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Moonlight Peaks, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Super Mario Odyssey rounding out the list. Long-tenured evergreen titles such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate continue to occupy the mid-table, a pattern that has held for months on Nintendo’s storefront.

Download-only chart: Avatar Legends leapfrogs Pokemon FireRed and Deltarune

On the separate download-only chart, which excludes titles with physical retail releases, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game debuts at the very top. According to Nintendo Everything’s breakdown, that list runs Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, Pokemon FireRed, Moonlight Peaks, Deltarune, Pokemon LeafGreen, Stardew Valley, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Go-Go Town, and Wobbly Life through the top nine positions.

That’s a notable achievement given the fighter’s messy week, and it lines up with GoNintendo’s independently tallied listings for prior weeks, which similarly track Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven Groove locked in around the top of the combined chart. GoNintendo’s own record of the July 11 rankings shows the identical running order at the top, lending further weight to the consistency of Nintendo’s published figures across outlets that monitor the eShop weekly.

What Avatar Legends’ Switch debut means for the fighting game roster ahead

Developer PM Studios has already outlined a Year 1 roadmap for the 12-character roster. Its own promotional materials confirm the plan adds five iconic characters over the course of the season: Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, Bolin and the winner of the Year 1 Character Vote, alongside a bundled digital soundtrack and art book in the Deluxe Edition once it becomes available on Switch.

For Australian and New Zealand fighting game fans on Switch, that missing Deluxe Edition and crossplay support are the two features worth watching most closely, since local player pools are typically smaller and cross-platform matchmaking helps keep queue times manageable. A physical Nintendo cartridge release is also confirmed to be in the works, which should give regional retailers a tangible SKU to stock once pre-orders convert to launch stock locally.
