Splatoon Raiders Tops Switch 2 eShop Charts as Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remaster Debuts

Splatoon Raiders has carried its pre-order chart dominance straight into launch week on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop, holding the top overall spot even after going fully playable worldwide on July 23. The same week’s download schedule also introduced Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster to Switch 2 owners, giving Square Enix’s Spira duology its second appearance on Nintendo’s current hardware lineup in as many console generations.
Splatoon Raiders Rides Its Pre-Load Lead Into Launch Week
The latest Nintendo Switch 2 eShop charts for the week of July 19, 2026 showed Splatoon Raiders will be out in a few days, and that means pre-loads have started, with that alone enough to make the game already #1, according to Nintendo Everything’s weekly download tracker. The single-player Splatoon spin-off then launched as scheduled.
On 23 July 2026, physical and digital copies of the game were officially released worldwide, according to Splatoon fan resource Inkipedia’s release log, corroborating the July 23 date Nintendo Everything had already flagged. GoNintendo’s own chart round-up for the same pre-launch week independently listed Splatoon Raiders in the top slot, matching Nintendo Everything’s numbers.
Splatoon Raiders reframes the shooter franchise as a story-driven adventure instead of the usual online battles, casting players as a mechanic working with members of the swashbuckling musical trio Deep Cut, mixing single-player exploration, puzzle-solving, combat and resource gathering. Nintendo’s own eShop listing frames it as an action shooter built around raiding the Spirhalite Islands while fending off hordes of Salmonids.
Pricing lines up with recent first-party Switch 2 exclusives: the digital edition costs $49.99 and the physical cartridge edition $59.99. The launch also came bundled with new collectibles, as Nintendo revealed Splatoon Raiders themed Shiver, Frye, and Big Man amiibo which release on the same day as the game.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Returns, Minus the Upgrade Path
FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster first released on Nintendo Switch 2 on 23rd Jul 2026, published by Square Enix, per Nintendo Life’s game database, sliding onto the eShop charts in the same week as Splatoon Raiders. The Switch 2 edition bundles both RPGs together, and fully immerses players in the World of Spira across over 100 combined hours of gameplay across the two classic titles, according to Nintendo’s own US product listing.
It is not a new game for Nintendo hardware, however. Nintendo World Report’s technical comparison found that the Switch 2 version is almost indiscernible from the Switch 1 release, with the virtual game cards using exactly the same image and title on the home screen. The outlet noted the practical differences come down to resolution and filtering: the Switch 1 versions display at 1080p compared to 1440p on the Switch 2, and while both versions run at 30 fps, there is improved texture filtering present in the Switch 2 games.
Anyone hoping to carry over a save file from the original Switch release will be starting over. Nintendo’s storefront explicitly warns that there is also a Nintendo Switch version of this game, so players should select the version they require carefully, as save data is incompatible between the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions. In Western markets the Switch 2 release is digital-only for now; Japan is getting a physical option, but only as a Game-Key Card arriving roughly five weeks after the digital debut.
A Stacked July for Switch 2’s Storefront
Splatoon Raiders and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster were only two pieces of a busy month on Nintendo’s newest console. Tech Times’ release tracker counted five notable titles arriving across three weeks: Digimon Story: Time Stranger on July 10, Moss: The Forgotten Relic on July 16, and Splatoon Raiders and Final Fantasy X/X-2 both on July 23, followed by Xenoblade Chronicles 2 — Nintendo Switch 2 Edition on July 30. Of that group, Splatoon Raiders is the only Switch 2 exclusive among them, with FF X/X-2 and Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s Switch 2 edition also built as Switch 2-only releases.
That density of releases explains why Nintendo Everything’s weekly charts had already shown Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster sitting in the lower half of the Switch 2 top thirty purely on pre-order momentum the week before launch, wedged between Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s Switch 2 Edition and Culdcept Begins. With the game now actually unlocked for players, that position was always likely to shift once real download and purchase activity replaced pre-order counts.
What Switch 2 Owners in NZ and Australia Are Weighing Up
For local Switch 2 owners choosing between the two new releases, the decision looks straightforward on paper: Splatoon Raiders is a genuine console exclusive built for the new hardware, while Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is, by Nintendo’s own product description and independent technical testing, largely the same package already available on the original Switch, just rendered at a higher resolution. Anyone in the region who already owns the Switch 1 version and is chasing meaningful visual gains, rather than a fresh single-player adventure, may want to weigh that against the asking price before double-dipping.
