Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time each day make up the free Global leg of GO Fest 2026, and Mega Mewtwo X will appear in Super Mega Raids on Saturday and Mega Mewtwo Y will appear in Super Mega Raids on Sunday, Pokémon GO confirmed. Crucially, Mewtwo caught from those raids will have at least one Mega Level unlocked, so you can Mega Evolve it into the form you battled without the initial energy cost, removing one of the game’s steepest Mega Energy grinds for anyone who wins the fight.

Alongside the raids, every trainer logging in during the event gets a free Timed Research questline called Genetic Mastery. Per Pokémon GO Hub, the six-part quest follows Professor Willow’s investigation into Mega-Evolved Mewtwo, with Trainers completing tasks, preparing for battle, and eventually choosing between the Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y paths. LeekDuck’s tracker confirms the fork arrives early: trainers must choose Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y after completing the first three Genetic Mastery steps.
Finishing the branch pays out handsomely.
