Nintendo And Hot Topic Unveil New Exclusive Pikmin Merch Line
Nintendo has rolled out a fresh wave of Pikmin merchandise exclusively through Hot Topic, expanding the retailer’s ongoing licensing partnership with a lineup of apparel and accessories built around the series’ leaf-headed creatures and their canine companion, Oatchi. The pieces, which include hoodies, a t-shirt, a dad cap, a coin purse and a potted-plant-shaped crossbody bag, are not being distributed through any other retail channel.
Nintendo just unveiled a new set of merchandise for the Pikmin series, with a variety of items found at Hot Topic and everything exclusive to that retailer, not sold elsewhere. The news was first detailed by Nintendo Everything, with GoNintendo independently confirming the drop and its full pricing shortly after.
What’s Actually In The New Pikmin Drop
According to GoNintendo’s rundown of the collection, the new items available in Hot Topic stores and online include the Pikmin Fruit Dad Cap for $24.90, the Pikmin Characters Hoodie for $59.90, the Pikmin Oatchi Coin Purse for $19.90, the Pikmin Blue Potted Plant Crossbody Bag for $59.90, a green Pikmin Hoodie for $54.90, and the Pikmin Characters T-Shirt for $24.90.
The headline hoodie leans into the series’ bug-hunting side. Nintendo Everything describes it as a brown hoodie that features a trio of Pikmin printed on the chest, plus Pikmin carrying a Bulborb on the back, with the right sleeve carrying a rubberized print of the game’s title and the whole piece finished with a hood, front pockets and a rubber flower zipper pull. The embroidered dad cap takes a gentler approach, embroidered with Pikmin carrying different fruits and finished with an adjustable strap.
The Oatchi Coin Purse And Potted Plant Bag Steal The Show
The two accessory pieces are arguably the most distinctive items in the set. The Pikmin coin purse is inspired by Oatchi, featuring ear, paw and nose appliqué details to bring the pup to life, and according to Nintendo Everything’s product description it also comes with a debossed “Pikmin” wrist strap and an enamel flower charm.
The crossbody bag, meanwhile, is built entirely around its own miniature diorama. Hot Topic’s own product listing describes it as a bag that lets fans take their favorite leaf-headed cuties around with them, shaped like a potted plant complete with fake grass and 3D flower appliqués, plus a Blue Pikmin peeking out. It first appeared as a standalone pre-order earlier this year before being folded into the wider collection alongside the new apparel.
A Second Hot Topic Collaboration In Just Over A Year
GoNintendo’s coverage notes this isn’t Nintendo’s first time putting Pikmin gear on Hot Topic’s shelves. The retailer has had Pikmin merch up before, including a crossbody bag that is now returning alongside the new items. That earlier run was the Mad Engine x Pikmin summer collection, a considerably larger apparel line that included joggers, pajama pants, a beanie, a woven button-up and a tie-dye tee alongside items sold as BoxLunch exclusives.
The scale of this newest release is more modest by comparison, focused on six core pieces rather than a dozen-plus SKUs. It also lands with a promotional push: Hot Topic’s own catalogue currently flags several of the pieces as eligible for its “Hot Cash” loyalty rewards program, alongside a limited discount code bundled with the wider collection.
Ordering Pikmin Gear From New Zealand Or Australia
Hot Topic has no physical storefronts in New Zealand or Australia, so local Pikmin fans will need to order directly through the retailer’s website. Hot Topic’s shipping policy, published on its own product pages, states that the company ships to all 50 US states and territories, with international delivery available to more than 150 countries and rates calculated at checkout. Buyers Down Under should factor in those international shipping costs and longer delivery windows when weighing up the collection against locally stocked Nintendo merchandise.
With Pikmin continuing to be one of Nintendo’s most merchandise-friendly franchises outside its core Mario and Zelda properties, this latest Hot Topic tie-in suggests the publisher sees ongoing appetite for apparel tied to the series even between mainline game releases.
