New handcrafted Yoshi and Kirby games are launching in March 2019. 

Yoshi’s Crafted World, a brand-new adventure and the first game starring Yoshi for Nintendo Switch, launches exclusively for the console on the 29th of March 2019.

Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn launches for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems on the 9th of March 2019.

In Yoshi’s Crafted World players take control of a Yoshi exploring a big world crafted from household items like boxes and paper cups, navigating each themed stage to solve puzzles and find hidden treasures. On the flip side, stages can be played backwards, providing new perspectives to explore and the challenge to find Poochy-Pups that are hiding around the course. Players can even join up with a friend to play through the game in two-player co-op.

In Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn, an enhanced version of the acclaimed Kirby’s Epic Yarn that was originally released for the Wii system, Kirby is transported into a world made of cloth and yarn to unravel enemies, unzip secret passageways and transform into powerful vehicles. Every stage in the original Wii version is stitched in, but this Nintendo 3DS version has some new features, like new Ravel Abilities that power up Kirby in fun ways, new mini-games featuring familiar faces King Dedede and Meta Knight, new furniture to personalise and decorate Kirby’s Pad, and a new Devilish mode that adds an extra layer of challenge to each stage.

Some of the Ravel Abilities include a giant yarn ball used to attack enemies, a wire sword that can slice through anything and the Nylon ability, which can generate wind for jumping higher and collecting beads.

The creative, colourful and visually stunning game also features new amiibo functionality for compatible Kirby series amiibo figures that gives Kirby wearable hats and abilities based on the figure used.

Fans of Yoshi and Kirby have a lot to look forward to in March, as Yoshi’s Crafted World launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch and Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn launches for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

With the first YO-KAI WATCH game and its popular sequel YO-KAI WATCH 2 capturing the imaginations of children across Australia and New Zealand, fans of the games and the popular TV series can now enjoy an all-new story, befriend old and new quirky Yo-kai and experience a revamped battle system.

The story begins when Nate Adams’ father is offered a new job forcing them to leave Springdale and relocate to a town called St. Peanutsburg in the country of BBQ. Having just replaced his inoperable Yo-kai Watch with the new Yo-kai Watch Model U, it’s not long before Nate finds himself caught up in another series of mysteries. One day, FBY agents and hilarious duo, Blunder and Folly, come knocking at Nate’s door asking if he’s aware of the UFO which recently crash-landed in the area. Unable to help, Nate sets off to investigate with his beloved friends, Whisper and Jibanyan, and finds himself getting caught up into an assortment of exciting adventures, while meeting with a cast of bothersome, friendly and quirky Yo-kai along the way.

Meanwhile, back in Springdale, a geeky detective wannabe, Hailey Anne Thomas, gets more than she bargained for after trying to hunt down a limited-edition character figure. After entering a shop with high hopes, a mysterious voice entices her to purchase a Yo-kai Watch Model U. Once Hailey Anne discovers the voice belongs to a Yo-kai named Usapyon and understands why he was so eager for her to buy the Yo-kai Watch Model U, they join forces, inspiring Hailey Anne to open a detective agency to solve the troubles of Springdale.

Why has there been so much mysterious activity in Springdale and St. Peanutsburg lately, and why do Nate and Hailey Anne both possess a Yo-kai Watch Model U?

Nate and Hailey Anne must travel their own separate paths to discover their shared destiny and unravel the mysteries in each of their towns. Aside from Nate’s and Hailey Anne’s key objectives, players can immerse themselves in many exciting side quests – also known as Requests and Favours – by answering the needs of the local residents, with the hope of a nice reward at the end. They can also take on a range of mini-games and challenges, which include rafting down rapids in BBQ or unearthing treasure maps as they seek out hidden treasures.

The reimagined battle system is the most exciting and tactical in the series to date, so players will have to think and act fast if they’re to win. Using the new Tactics Board, players have the freedom to place their three preferred Yo-kai anywhere on a 3 x 3 grid. Yo-kai positioned on the front row will see their physical attacks become stronger and will protect Yo-kai behind them. Players can also place Yo-kai next to each other to trigger Linking effects, resulting in combo attacks. There are lots of possible combinations so experiment with different Yo-kai to discover your perfect team.

Players who are eager to test their battle skills against fellow Yo-kai rivals can participate in a range of multiplayer battles including Local Battle, Friend Battle and ‘Merican Dream Battles. In ‘Merican Dream Battle, players can choose between Casual Battle, which has no rules, and Official Rank Battle, where they can battle to gather Rank Points. Outside of the battle arena, players can trade Yo-kai via StreetPass and trade medals over Wi-Fi or local communications.

Fans of Jibanyan can get creative with a feature called Build-a-Nyan, where they can design their own cat Yo-kai by giving it a name, changing its colour and selecting which tribe it represents. Collect Originyan parts through the game to change its voice and appearance, and befriend cat Yo-kai along the way to pass their moves onto your customised moggy.

By visiting the in-game Post Office, players can present download codes, QR Codes and passwords to the receptionist to redeem special items and Yo-kai. The Crank-a-kai of which Whisper first appeared in the original YO-KAI WATCH game and popular TV series makes a return and this time it can be used to receive more items and Yo-kai. Both Crank-a-kai coins – an in-game currency – and Play Coins, earned by walking around with a Nintendo 3DS family system, can be used as tender.

It’s also possible for owners of previous games in the series to link their games with YO-KAI WATCH 3 to unlock in-game content. Link YO-KAI WATCH 2: Bony Spirits, Fleshy Souls and Psychic Specters to befriend an S-Ranking Yo-kai from each game. Players can also link with YO-KAI WATCH BLASTERS: Red Cat Corps and White Dog Squad to unlock an exclusive Yo-kai from each of these titles.

YO-KAI WATCH is back and more action-packed than ever, as YO-KAI WATCH BLASTERS: Red Cat Corps and YO-KAI WATCH BLASTERS: White Dog Squad are set to launch for the 3DS and 2DS in Australia and New Zealand.

In this latest game in the YO-KAI WATCH series, players can team up with up to three other friends either locally or online to fight towering Big Bosses, using skills and powerful Soultimate Moves. While previous YO-KAI WATCH games focused on turn-based battles, YO-KAI WATCH BLASTERS drops you into real-time skirmishes, in the first ever action RPG for the series. During these battles, you directly control your Yo-kai as you strategise with different skills and equipment to defeat huge bosses. By taking on various fast-paced missions, players will embark on a journey to meet, befriend and battle more than 400 new and returning Yo-kai.

Training Yo-kai will also affect your team’s strength in battle. By training, you can create items and equipment to use on your personal Yo-kai team! By completing missions, more powerful and useful items can be earned.

Each of the two versions of the game contains different Yo-kai, missions and bosses. By trading between the two, you can collect all the Yo-kai! And by linking save data from YO-KAI WATCH 2: Bony Spirits, YO-KAI WATCH 2: Fleshy Souls or YO-KAI WATCH 2: Psychic Specters, you can get one of three special Yo-kai to take into battle. 

To keep the action and content going, a free post-launch update to the game will add new side stories, Yo-kai, bosses and missions.

Grab your backpack and headtorch, and prepare to set off on a charming puzzle-platforming adventure in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS family systems on the 13th of July, 2018. The game includes Levels based on four of the Kingdoms from Super Mario Odyssey, with the newly released Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Overview Trailer (above) offering a sneak peek at them. Players who can’t wait to meet the sometimes nervous but always courageous Captain Toad can now download a free demo version of the game – available for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS. 

As a platforming game, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a little different from the rest.

For starters, the Captain’s heavy backpack means jumping is not possible – so in order to guide him past the various enemies, traps and obstacles that stand between him and the precious Power Star in each course, players will need to take a different approach. Rather than rushing in head-first, it’s important to put some thought into plotting Captain Toad’s route, and even more important to use the adjustable camera to carefully observe the surroundings from all angles. Each Level is a compact and lovingly-crafted diorama in its own right, designed using the same “miniature garden” concept – called “hakoniwa” in Japanese – that inspired much of the Level design in Super Mario Odyssey. This means that lots of charming details, along with plenty of surprises and hidden collectibles, are packed in to what at first glance might seem like quite a small space. 

With more than 70 Levels to conquer, there’s plenty to keep even the most intrepid explorer occupied for a long while. As seen in the Overview Trailer, four of these are bonus Levels based on Kingdoms featured in Super Mario Odyssey: Metro Kingdom, Sand Kingdom, Cascade Kingdom and Luncheon Kingdom.

These bonus levels can be unlocked through regular gameplay, but they can be accessed straight away by scanning one of the Super Mario Odyssey amiibo figures: Mario (Wedding Outfit), Peach (Wedding Outfit) and Bowser (Wedding Outfit). Scanning the Toad amiibo figure will cause a powerful Invincibility Mushroom to appear, while scanning any other amiibo will provide the useful bonus of a 1-Up or two. 

The Nintendo Switch version of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is available now for digital pre-load via Nintendo eShop, and by purchasing the game now and pre-loading it to their Nintendo Switch consoles, keen players can be among the first to access the game when it is released at 00:00 local time on the 13th of July, 2018. It’s also worth remembering that digital purchases earn Gold Points worth 5% of the total amount paid, which can be spent on future purchases of Nintendo Switch games and downloadable content in Nintendo eShop.

First announced at E3 2017, Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido is a fast-paced action-puzzle game that will be slicing its way on to both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS family systems on the 8th of June 2018.

In the world of Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido, the sinister Empire holds dominion, controlling the consumption of sushi with an iron grip, and denying it entirely to the inhabitants of the vanquished Republic. As the story begins, our orphaned hero Musashi (playable as either a male or a female avatar) sets off from a small village in the Republic with an empty stomach but a head full of dreams – dreams of a world in which people are free from hunger and everyone can enjoy the deliciousness of sushi. An encounter with a wandering warrior known as a Sushi Striker opens Musashi’s eyes to a wider world, and sets the wheels in motion for a grand adventure.

Players should prepare themselves to meet a colourful cast of characters as they travel with Musashi through this vibrant, anime-esque fantasy world: from the treacherous local bully Kojiro, to the muscle-bound Imperial enforcer General Kodiak, and the beautiful but lonely sushi assassin Celia. It’s time to fight back against the Empire and its cruel sushi oppression!

There are allies to be found in the guerrilla fighters of the Sushi Liberation Front, but can their ambitious leader Masa really be trusted? Elements of the classic hero’s journey combine with tongue-in-cheek humour and a passion for all things sushi to produce an adventure quite unlike any other. Alongside the distinctive aesthetics and fresh storytelling, the addictive battle system is at the heart of the game.

Just as wandering samurai duelled against one another in medieval Japan, so must wandering Sushi Strikers face off against each other in the world of Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido. Battles in this game are contested between two opponents, where each combatant has access to three conveyor belts of sushi, plus a seventh shared belt in the middle. By selecting and linking sushi plates of the same colour, players create stacks that are then hurled at the opponent, dealing damage to each other until one warrior stands victorious.

The damage dealt by each stack varies depending on its size and the colour of the plates used, but various combos and modifiers can improve or reduce the effectiveness of a player’s attacks. The action is fast-paced and frenetic, but with a degree of tactical depth that only fully becomes apparent once the basics have been mastered. 

As with all heroic quests, the importance of supernatural aid should not be underestimated and Sushi Sprites play a key role Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido. They are divine beings with the power to bring sushi into the world, and to use their special skills to aid the Sushi Striker they are bonded with.

Musashi meets the powerful and renowned Sushi Sprite Jinrai at the outset of the adventure, who quickly becomes a valuable companion. But there are many more Sushi Sprites to encounter – more than 50 in total, many of which can evolve into more powerful forms. Up to three Sushi Sprites can be equipped at once, and learning how to best make use of their skills is a vital part of any battle strategy.

Aspiring Sushi Strikers will be pleased to hear that following the Way of Sushido need not be a solitary pursuit, as both versions of the game support online* and local multiplayer. With the Nintendo Switch version, players can throw down against their friends anytime, anywhere – one Nintendo Switch console and one copy of the software is enough to enjoy a two-player battle. Pass a Joy-Con to a friend and see who is the true master and who is but an apprentice.

Challenge your friends and let battle commence! It’s time to find out who’s the toughest Kirby of them all, when Kirby Battle Royale releases in Australia and New Zealand on the 4th of November 2017, exclusively for 3DS and 2DS.

A free demo version which lets players try three of the game’s 10 different battle modes is available now on Nintendo eShop, and by transferring their demo save data across to the full game once launched, budding battlers will be able to unlock the mysterious Meta Knight as a playable character.

Kirby Battle Royale is a fast-paced 3D action game in which players take on the role of Kirby and go head-to-head against other Kirbies. There are 10 different battle modes and 13 Kirby copy abilities to unlock, all of which can be enjoyed across online multiplayer**, local multiplayer and a single-player Story Mode. The game also supports Download Play, so up to four players can battle it out using a single copy of the game. Each of the 10 varied battle modes is designed for four combatants, either in two-versus-two or every Kirby for himself.

Players will earn Battle Coins for their in-game accomplishments, such as advancing through the leagues in Story Mode, and these can be spent on a wide range of in-game collectibles, including headgear for Kirby to wear. The game is also compatible with Kirby series amiibo, which add extra items to the collection. For example, tapping the Kirby amiibo figure will unlock the Ultra Sword Hat. Brain Training is back! The latest entry in the phenomenally successful series, is Dr Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training: Can you stay focused?, launching 29th of July 2017 on Nintendo 3DS. In a busy world with ever more distractions, it can be hard to stay focused on the things that matter. This helpful new title aims to address that problem, with new Devilish Training activities that are designed to give everyone’s working memory a rigorous workout.

First introduced in 2006, the Brain Training series is designed to stimulate the brain, and aims to help players improve their mental agility through a number of bite-sized challenges and activities. It’s already been 10 years since More Brain Training from Dr Kawashima: How Old Is Your Brain? was released in Australia and New Zealand, and with so much information being thrown at us in our daily lives, we all need to take some time to blow away those mental cobwebs. That’s where a little Devilish Brain Training goes a long way.

Working memory allows the temporary storage and manipulation of information – it’s essential for carrying out daily activities such as replying to someone in conversation, thinking out the steps of a recipe, or anticipating an opponent’s moves in sports. Dr Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training aims to train working memory and thereby help players to hone their powers of concentration, through a selection of exercises called Devilish Training. As an example of Devilish Training, in “1-Back” players will be challenged to answer a series of maths problems – but with a devious twist. Instead of immediately answering the problem that appears on screen, players must remember the solution – then when the next problem appears, they must input the answer to the previous problem instead. Of course, while doing this they must also solve and remember the answer to the second problem, ready to input it when the third problem appears! It’s perfect for anyone who’s ever forgotten what they were looking for when they entered a room, or never remembers where they’ve put down their car keys.

While the Devilish Training exercises are demanding, they are also quick to play, and the game encourages players to practice them for 5 minutes per day. The difficulty level also gets adjusted automatically based on a player’s performance, so everyone can train at his or her own level.
