Zero Company Patch 1.1 Fixes 100% Hit-Chance Bug, Beskar Crashes

Bit Reactor has shipped the first big patch for Star Wars Zero Company, and the headline fix is the one players have been arguing about since launch: guaranteed shots that weren’t actually guaranteed. Fixed an issue where shots can be missed, even when the chance to hit is 100%, according to the official patch notes posted to EA’s Star Wars: Zero Company site. Update 1.1 went out on all platforms carrying more than 60 fixes in total, per GamesRadar+’s count.

Players had spent two weeks convinced they were misreading percentages every time a point-blank shot whiffed. Here’s how the community reacted once EA confirmed it wasn’t in their heads:

The 100% chance-to-hit bug, explained

Zero Company runs on the same probability-driven combat as its clear influence, XCOM, where a displayed percentage is supposed to be a promise. It wasn’t. Shots at a full 100% could still whiff, and 1.1 is the patch that finally makes the number on screen match the number the game rolls.

We’d have called this a day-one fix on any tactics game with this much math riding on trust. Bit Reactor didn’t manage that, and it’s taken a fortnight to get here, but the fix is now live and it’s not a small one for a genre where a missed sure-thing can wreck an Ironman run.

Beskar mode crashes and save corruption also patched

Beskar is Zero Company’s permadeath mode, and it had its own crash bug on top of the base game’s stability problems. EA’s notes list an issue where Beskar saves were temporarily deleted and a crash issue specific to Beskar mode, both now fixed. The patch also closes out a rare softlock on the main menu caused by aggressively spamming inputs while the introduction cinematic plays, and save corruption that could occur on sudden or forced game shutdown.

Players who bought a Deluxe Edition or preordered had another headache: an issue where players were not receiving their preorder or Deluxe Edition items has also been resolved. GameWatcher’s rundown confirms the wider stability sweep, noting the update addresses several performance and stability problems, including crashes, visual stutters and an issue that could temporarily delete Beskar saves.

Overwatch and weapon math get corrected, but not everything

Beyond the headline fix, GameWatcher reports the patch tackles combat edge cases where attacks could miss despite having a 100% chance to hit, while several Overwatch issues have been corrected. EA’s own notes single out enemies firing through solid objects and Overwatch triggering against units outside their cone as specific culprits now removed.

Not every reported bug made the cut. PC Gamer’s own playthrough found overwatch not triggering even when enemies jog through multiple targeting cones on their turn, and that doesn’t seem to have been addressed, despite adjacent Overwatch fixes landing elsewhere. That’s a fair complaint. If you’re still holding off on Beskar mode over this, you’re not being paranoid.

Why the fix took two weeks: Bit Reactor’s skeleton crew

The delay has context. PC Gamer reports Bit Reactor, the studio that created Zero Company, reportedly furloughed most of its staff shortly before launch, and has been operating with a skeleton crew since then. GamesRadar+ corroborates the same detail, describing dispiriting reports that much of Bit Reactor’s staff were furloughed ahead of launch, with the possibility they’ll be brought back if the game is successful.

That’s a rough situation for a studio built on Firaxis pedigree, the team behind the modern XCOM games, shipping a tactics title that needed this many fixes on arrival. Our view: a 60-plus item patch two weeks out isn’t a bad turnaround for a skeleton crew, but it does mean the pace of future fixes depends on whether EA brings people back rather than on how many bugs are left.

Extra performance fix for older Nvidia cards

EA also flagged a workaround for owners of older graphics hardware rather than folding it into the automatic fixes. Players on Nvidia GTX 10-series or RTX 20-series cards meeting minimum specification can adjust a specific video setting to improve overall framerates, since these architectures can encounter additional rendering overhead when processing complex environmental detail. The recommended fix is switching Environment Geometry Detail to Off in the graphics options.

No ability, weapon or economy figure changed in this update; it’s a pure bug and stability pass rather than a rebalance. The next test for Bit Reactor is whether the studio can turn around the Overwatch cone issue and any remaining crash reports without another two-week wait.
