yxngstxr Leaves HEROIC After Emergency AWP Run and Summer Rebuild

Simon “yxngstxr” Boije has left HEROIC after more than a year and a half with the Counter-Strike 2 organisation. HEROIC announced his departure on 25 August 2026, thanking the Swedish player for his contribution and saying he is setting off on a “new journey.”

The organisation did not reveal where Boije is heading next. His exit formally closes a stint that saw him move between rifle and AWP duties, return from the bench during a visa problem, qualify for the IEM Cologne Major and later step aside during HEROIC’s summer rebuild.

yxngstxr Joined HEROIC From Sangal in 2025

Boije joined HEROIC in January 2025 as part of a move involving players from Sangal, with Yasin “xfl0ud” Koç also making the switch. Originally brought in as a rifler, Boije filled several positions as HEROIC adjusted its lineup over the following year.

His first spell in the active roster ended at the beginning of 2026 after HEROIC signed Tim “susp” Ångström and moved Boije to the bench. That change did not keep him out of competition for long, however, as an unexpected roster problem brought him straight back into the starting five.

Visa Issues Put yxngstxr Back on the AWP

Alimzhan “Alkaren” Bitimbay encountered visa issues ahead of HEROIC’s early 2026 schedule, forcing the organisation to call Boije back from the bench. Rather than return to his original rifle duties, the Swede took over the AWP role while Alkaren was unavailable.

The emergency change ultimately lasted long enough for Boije to help HEROIC qualify for Stage 1 of the IEM Cologne Major. He averaged a 1.00 rating across the season despite taking on the sniper role after previously competing primarily as a rifler.

That qualification became the clearest competitive payoff from his return. What began as cover for a teammate’s visa problems turned into a sustained AWP stint during one of HEROIC’s major qualification campaigns.

HEROIC’s Summer Rebuild Ended His Active Run

Boije stepped down from HEROIC’s active roster on 7 July 2026 as the organisation began a wider summer rebuild. The changes also included the departure of head coach TOBIZ, while Yasin “xfl0ud” Koç moved on to FUT Esports.

HEROIC subsequently added Antonio “MartinezSa” Martinez and Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin to complete its new five-player lineup, while Joonas “doto” Forss took over as head coach. Those additions left no active roster position for Boije before his contract departure was announced in August.

yxngstxr Stayed Active After Moving to the Bench

Boije continued competing while outside HEROIC’s starting five. He appeared as a stand-in for EYEBALLERS during BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2 and also played several online competitions with the Raccoons mix-team.

Those appearances meant his July benching did not mark the end of his competitive activity. HEROIC’s 25 August announcement now separates him from the organisation entirely, although neither the team nor Boije has identified his next permanent destination.
