Fans Have Already Built Talent Calculators for World of Warcraft: Forever

World of Warcraft’s theorycrafting machine never sleeps. Forever was only shown off at BlizzCon a few days ago, and players have already stitched together working talent calculators, datamined from streams and the show-floor demos.

WoWhead has one up, and Reddit user Baldwinbuilds built talentsforever.com, which goes a step further and flags exactly what’s changed from the original Classic talents. As Harvey Randall describes on PCGamer, it’s a genuinely impressive bit of community work, pulled together from streams and a small army of info-gatherers before the game is anywhere near release.

The talents worth staring at

  • Arms warriors get Searing Strike, which does 80% extra damage against Giants, Dragonkin and mounted targets, and knocks riders clean off their mount.
  • Retribution paladins get Holy Twist, turning seal-swapping into a combo: replacing a seal with an echo debuffs the target, then re-triggers on your next melee. You’ll be cycling seals on purpose.
  • Survival hunters look like dual-wielders now, with Predator’s Edge boosting offhand damage and a set of talents built around Mongoose Bite.
  • Combat rogues borrow retail’s outlaw flow through Relentless Blades, which shaves cooldowns every time you spend a finisher and changes how the spec plays entirely.
  • Shamans get two big quality-of-life wins: Totemic Projection, which lets you move totems with you, and Call of the Elements, which drops a full set of totems in one cast.

Plenty of the rest is comfort food from retail. Mages pick up Hot Streak, Arcane Blast and Ice Lance, destruction warlocks get Immolate, restoration shamans get Water Shield, and druid healers get Wild Growth.

For a “third way to play” sold on nostalgia, we half-expected weirder. The retail borrowing is safe and familiar, and Searing Strike is the real outlier. That kind of hyper-specific, slightly silly design is the direction we’d like Forever to lean into.

Keep the salt handy, though. The BlizzCon demos only went up to level 38, none of this is final, and everything can shift before Forever launches in November.

oh... wowhead has a talent calculator up already? so they know the talents already somehow I guess... and I already don't like that forever seems to be making melee hunter a thing like it was in SoD
oh well, I'll reserve judgement until I actually play
