Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy Reveals Lord Captain Aspyce Chorda as New Companion

Owlcat Games just gave Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy its most dangerous party member yet, and she’s only here because she’s bored. The studio revealed Lord Captain Aspyce Chorda today with a new companion trailer, and she’s a Rogue Trader with a fearsome reputation and a habit of curing her ennui in unusual and brutal ways.
If the name rings a bell, it should. Chorda was one of the standout characters in Owlcat’s Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, and now she’s crossing over into Dark Heresy’s Inquisitorial investigation as a recruitable companion.
A Rogue Trader Who Joins the Inquisition for Fun
Chorda’s setup is simple and very on brand. She’s a Rogue Trader whose lineage traces back to a noble Scintillan dynasty, which gives her access to luxuries most people in the Imperium could only dream of. None of it helps. She’s dreadfully bored.
To make things worse, she’s been cut off from her domain in the Koronus Expanse. So when she conveniently finds herself caught up in an Inquisitorial investigation, she signs on as a surefire way to find some entertainment. That’s the kind of motivation I love in a companion. She isn’t here out of loyalty or duty. She’s here because hunting heretics sounds more fun than another banquet.

Officer Class Support With Dual Wielding
Owlcat is pitching Chorda as useful both in and out of fights. Her confidence and social skills make her a strong pick when you need to charm or talk someone round in conversation. She also knows a lot about Xenos lore. Some of her detractors would call that knowledge heretical, which is exactly the sort of thing that should make an Inquisitor nervous, but it has its uses.
In combat she’s an Officer. That means she boosts ally morale and makes enemies cower before her, so she’s built to shape a fight rather than simply trade hits. She isn’t a pure backliner though. Chorda can get stuck in with melee and ranged weapons, and she can dual wield them too. An Officer who buffs the squad and then jumps in with two weapons is a fun combo, and it should give her a lot of flexibility in a party.

Recruitable Now in the Founder’s Pack Beta
You don’t have to wait for launch to meet her. Chorda can already be recruited in the Dark Heresy beta, which is available to everyone who has bought one of the Founder’s Packs on Owlcat’s website.
The companion trailer covers her introduction, a look at her design and some of her combat moves. The in-game shots show her striding through ornate halls flanked by armoured guards and taking the fight to enemies in the game’s top-down tactical battles. She fits the gothic look of the game perfectly, all regal outfit, red hair and zero patience.

Coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy is headed to Windows PC through Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store, and to consoles on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Owlcat hasn’t attached a release date to the game yet, and its Steam page still lists it as coming soon.
Owlcat has made a habit of drip-feeding companion reveals, and Chorda is a smart one to lead with for fans of Rogue Trader. A familiar, chaotic face is a good hook for anyone on the fence about jumping from commanding a void ship to running an Inquisitorial cell. If the rest of the roster has half her personality, Dark Heresy’s party banter is going to be something special.
