Warcraft III Reforged Gets Its First New Campaign in 23 Years: Forsaken Kingdom

One of the biggest surprises of BlizzCon 2026 was not a new game at all. For the first time in more than 23 years, Warcraft III is getting a brand-new story, and you can play it right now.
The Forsaken Kingdom campaign
The new Forsaken Kingdom campaign for Warcraft III Reforged takes players back to the fall of Lordaeron and its transformation into the Undercity, one of the most pivotal moments in Warcraft lore. It is the first fresh Warcraft III content since the original game’s expansion, The Frozen Throne, back in 2003.
A 3.0 update, and a shot at redemption
The campaign arrives alongside the Warcraft III Reforged 3.0 update, which brings a massive graphics overhaul, a revamped World Editor, and more. It is a notable moment for a game whose 2020 Reforged launch was one of the roughest in Blizzard’s history. Best of all, Blizzard shadow-dropped it: the update and campaign are available to play today.
A quiet redemption arc
It is hard to overstate how badly Warcraft III Reforged landed in 2020. Promised features were missing, the response was one of the worst-reviewed launches on record, and Blizzard largely went quiet on it afterward. Getting a genuinely new campaign, a full graphics pass and a rebuilt World Editor more than five years later is the last thing most fans expected, and shadow-dropping it playable on day one is a confident way to reintroduce the game. Whether it is enough to win back a burned community is another question, but the Forsaken Kingdom campaign digging into the fall of Lordaeron, the birth of the Undercity and Sylvanas’s origins is about as juicy a piece of Warcraft lore as Blizzard could have picked.
