Waltz and Jam Gets New Trailer at Game Devs of Color Expo Direct

A little ghost and his glowing-eyed puppy just walked back onto our radar. Korean studio Flyway Games debuted a brand-new trailer for Waltz and Jam during the Game Devs of Color Expo Direct on 25 September 2026, and it’s easily one of the most charming things I’ve seen from the show.
Waltz and Jam is a hand-drawn action-adventure platformer headed to PC via Steam. You play as Waltz, a lost and innocent ghost wandering a strange afterlife, with his loyal spirit puppy Jam tagging along for the whole trip. The new trailer gives another look at the world, the characters and the way the two of them play off each other.

Seven Realms Built on the Seven Deadly Sins
The hook here is the setting. The afterlife in Waltz and Jam is split into seven realms, and each one is inspired by one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Every realm gets its own environments, enemies, puzzles and challenges, and each one ends with a boss fight that tests what the pair have learned along the way.
From the trailer and the Steam screenshots, the realms look properly distinct. One’s a neon-soaked street with a staircase climbing past glowing signs. Another is a sun-baked desert stuffed with odd wooden contraptions. Flyway describes the tone as spooky charm mixed with playful humor, and that tracks with what’s on screen. It’s cute, but it’s got an edge.
The goal of the whole journey is the Gate of Judgement. On Steam, the studio frames it as completing your ticket to enter Uptown, with a mysterious figure called Low guiding Waltz through the seven worlds.

Jam’s Transformations Open New Paths
Jam isn’t just a mascot trotting behind you. As the duo progresses, the spirit puppy develops new abilities that open new paths, help get past obstacles and give you an edge in fights. The Steam page lists a couple of them by name: Jam can turn into a Jam Water Ball to bounce and splash around, or a Jam Trampoline to launch Waltz higher.
That’s the part I’m most excited about. A companion that physically changes shape to solve platforming problems is a great idea, and it gives the pup a real job instead of being a cosmetic sidekick. If Flyway nails how those transformations combine with the level design, this could be a sleeper hit.
Legendary Toys Add a Second Toolkit
On top of Jam’s abilities, Waltz collects toys left behind by legendary craftsmen. Each toy carries its own power. You’ll use them to trigger contraptions, open hidden passages and send enemies flying. The idea is that every new toy is another way to read the world, so a path you’ve walked past a few times might suddenly open up once you’ve got the right tool.
Mixing Jam’s transformations with Waltz’s toy skills is the core loop. Puzzles are woven into the environments rather than dropped in as separate rooms, and there are hidden secrets to dig up across every realm.

PC Release Still Listed as Coming Soon
There’s no release date yet. The Steam page lists Waltz and Jam as coming soon for Windows PC, with Flyway Games as developer and KRAFTON credited alongside Flyway as publisher. No price has been announced either.
Flyway’s PR team teased that there’s more news coming soon, so a date or a demo might not be far off. For now, the new trailer is the best look we’ve had at the game, and you can wishlist it on Steam if a ghost and his shape-shifting dog sound like your kind of weekend.
We’ll keep an eye on it and report back as soon as Flyway locks in a launch window.
