Devolver Is Launching a $4.99 Platformer on GTA 6 Day and Saying the Quiet Part Loud
Every publisher on earth has spent the last year moving games away from November 19. Devolver Digital just moved one onto it.
Volvy’s Adventure: Reslimed — a remaster of the remake of the original action-platformer, which is a sentence Devolver wrote deliberately: hits Steam on November 19, the same day as Grand Theft Auto 6. It costs $4.99, with 25% off if you preorder.
Devolver is picking the fight on purpose
Devolver is not being coy about the strategy. The official announcement suggests readers can preorder Reslimed at a discount, “or they can buy GTA6 for $100 like some sucker.”
The game itself is four revamped worlds of platforming, boss fights and collecting onions, with a moveset built around a large hand you use to helicopter across chasms, grind rails and dig underground. Doinksoft are the developers, most recently of Dark Scrolls.

Why it might actually work
If you ask us, this is the smartest release date on the entire calendar, and it costs Devolver almost nothing to find out.
November 19 will be the single most-watched day in games this year. Every outlet, every storefront front page, every feed will be pointed at one game. A five-dollar platformer cannot lose that fight because it was never in it, but it can be the only other thing anyone mentions, and being the punchline to the biggest launch in a decade is worth more coverage than a quiet October Tuesday ever would have been.
The real risk was never GTA. It was being ignored, and this has already solved that.
