The Rumours are real – Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to Nintendo Switch, will be released in 2025.
Today Nintendo offered a first look at Nintendo Switch 2 in a video introducing the hardware. Watch the trailer below.
Nintendo Switch 2 plays Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games, as well as both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games. Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2. Further details on this will come from Nintendo at a later date.
Nintendo will reveal more on the Switch 2 via the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2, which will air on 2nd April 2025.
Nintendo will also hold Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events, where gamers can go hands-on with Nintendo Switch 2, in cities around the world.

Nintendo pioneered handheld gaming and have stuck with it – but by the look of the trailer, Switch 2 is just bigger with snap on / off controllers? Unless it plays games in higher than 120Hz res, looses that kid-llke cartoony feel, then the Switch 2 is likely to be lost in the rise of PC handhelds. Nintendo really just have their IP going for them right now and their die hard fanbase. They need to catch up (especially with Xbox making noises about releasing an Xbox handheld!)
