A PlayStation State of Play in September 2026 is looking increasingly likely after gaming insider NateTheHate said on 30 August that he is working to confirm the date and expects the presentation to happen “soon”.

The claim stops short of confirming either the event or its timing. Nate said a September State of Play is “looking incredibly likely”, but did not give a specific date or reveal what Sony could show during the presentation.

NateTheHate Says a September State of Play Looks Likely

The speculation began after an X user asked NateTheHate whether he had heard anything about a State of Play for September. His response arrived two days later, saying he was still “working to confirm the date” while describing a September presentation as increasingly likely.

That wording leaves two parts of the story separate. Nate appears confident enough to point towards September, but the exact scheduling remains something he is still trying to verify. There is therefore no confirmed day or week attached to the rumour.

September Has Become a Regular State of Play Window

A September presentation would follow Sony’s recent scheduling pattern. The State of Play broadcasts highlighted in the reports took place on 25 September in 2025 and 24 September in 2024, while 9 September is the earliest September date cited from previous years.

That history does not establish a date for 2026, but it explains why another September broadcast would fit Sony’s existing pattern. Previous events have generally fallen from the middle of the month onwards, although Sony has used an earlier September slot before.

No Games Have Been Confirmed for the Rumoured Showcase

The potential lineup remains separate from NateTheHate’s claim. None of the games discussed around the rumour were named by the insider as confirmed State of Play appearances.

PlayStation’s upcoming first-party slate gives Sony several projects it could draw from, with God of War Laufey, Until Dawn 2, Fairgames and Intergalactic among the titles raised as possible candidates in coverage of the rumour. Wolverine is also due for release in September, placing one of Sony’s major upcoming games in the same month as the reported presentation window.

Those possibilities should not be treated as leaks. Nate’s post only concerns the likelihood and timing of another State of Play, not its contents, and there is currently no confirmed programme attached to the reported September event.

The Exact State of Play Date Is Still the Missing Detail

For now, the strongest part of the report is the month rather than a specific day. NateTheHate is still trying to establish the exact date, leaving the next update as the point that could turn the September window into a more precise schedule.

If the event follows the recent pattern cited in previous years, a later-September broadcast would be consistent with Sony’s past timing. Until a date is confirmed, however, the PlayStation State of Play September 2026 remains an insider claim rather than an announced Sony event.
