Perfect World Confirms Shanghai as Host of Second CS2 Major of 2027

Counter-Strike 2 will return to Shanghai for a second Major in 2027, with Perfect World Esports officially confirming the Chinese city as host of Valve’s second Counter-Strike Major of the year. Perfect World previously ran the Shanghai Major in 2024, making this a return to the same city three years later.

HLTV reports a likely schedule of 22 November to 12 December, spread across four stages if the current Major format remains in place, with an expected US$1.25 million prize pool.

Shanghai Gets Another Counter-Strike Major

Perfect World’s confirmation settles the host-city question after China was initially announced without a venue. Earlier reporting had pointed to Shanghai, but the city was still unconfirmed until Perfect World named it as the home of the Winter 2027 Major.

Shanghai last hosted a Counter-Strike Major in 2024. Spirit won that event after beating FaZe 2-1 in the grand final, earning the organisation its first Major title, while Danil “donk” Kryshkovets received the tournament MVP award.

That gives Perfect World a second Valve-backed Counter-Strike Major within three years. It also means China will host another of the game’s biggest tournaments after becoming a Major host for the first time in 2024.

The 2027 Major Calendar Will Run Through Buenos Aires and Shanghai

The first Counter-Strike Major of 2027 is scheduled for Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 31 May to 20 June. FiReSPORTS is set to organise that tournament, which will be its first Major and the first event in the series held in the Southern Hemisphere.

Shanghai then takes the second slot at the end of the year. The reported 22 November to 12 December window would give Counter-Strike two Majors in very different regions during 2027, with Buenos Aires opening the calendar and Perfect World closing it in China.

Perfect World’s announcement currently confirms Shanghai and a November to December window. The exact dates, stage structure and US$1.25 million prize pool remain reported details rather than information included in the supplied official announcement.
