magixx Joins Team Vitality? “WELCOME MAGIXX” Was a Joke After His donk Teamkill

No, Boris “magixx” Vorobiev has not suddenly joined Team Vitality. The organisation’s “WELCOME MAGIXX” post on 22 August 2026 was a joke following one particularly unfortunate moment from Vitality’s Esports World Cup quarter-final against Spirit, when magixx accidentally killed his own teammate Danil “donk” Kryshkovets with an HE grenade on Nuke.

The timing made the punchline fairly clear. Team Vitality CS posted a mock signing graphic featuring magixx alongside the caption “WELCOME MAGIXX” only hours after the match. The post itself contained no roster details or transfer announcement, instead playing off the teamkill that had helped Vitality survive Nuke before Spirit eventually won the series.

Why Vitality Posted “WELCOME MAGIXX”

The joke came from the closing stages of Nuke, where Spirit had pushed Vitality into overtime while attempting a comeback. In the final overtime round, magixx threw an HE grenade that caught a low-health donk and killed him instead of an opponent.

That is about the worst possible teammate to accidentally remove from a live round. Speaking to HLTV after the match, magixx pointed out that even a nearly dead donk was still dangerous: “If you’re killing donk, it’s weird. Even at 5 HP he can get a double kill, maybe triple kill.”

magixx did not claim the grenade alone decided the map. He said he could not remember Spirit’s exact defensive setup against Vitality’s split and was therefore unsure how much the teamkill changed the outcome of the round. Nuke ultimately went Vitality’s way in overtime.

His response afterwards was considerably less serious. Back in Spirit’s practice room, magixx joked that the incident demonstrated exactly why he normally gives his HE grenades away to teammates playing outside on Nuke. He described the whole sequence as “just a weird thing” and said it did not affect him mentally.

Spirit Still Knocked Vitality Out of the Esports World Cup

The Nuke mistake did not become the defining result of the series. Spirit recovered on the deciding Mirage and eliminated Vitality from the Esports World Cup quarter-finals, ending a run of six consecutive losses against the French organisation stretching across nearly two years.

Asked what had changed this time, magixx said he felt pressure had affected Vitality. He referenced an earlier interview in which Vitality’s captain had discussed the difficulty of playing in front of a home crowd at the Paris Major, arguing that the additional pressure may have helped Spirit.

He also felt Vitality were no longer showing the same level of dominance they had several months earlier, while Spirit had improved following a three-day break after the group stage. When asked what the team had specifically worked on during those days, his answer was considerably simpler: “Just play better.”

The Vitality Joke Came After Spirit Finally Broke the Streak

That result gives the “WELCOME MAGIXX” post another layer beyond the grenade itself. Vitality got the temporary benefit of magixx removing donk during the Nuke overtime, but Spirit still recovered to eliminate them from the tournament and finally end a matchup streak that had repeatedly gone Vitality’s way.

There is therefore no indication in the post itself that Vitality were announcing an actual roster move. The signing-style graphic was the organisation turning magixx’s accidental teamkill into a social media joke after the quarter-final.

Spirit Face Legacy Next

Spirit’s tournament continues with a semi-final against Legacy, the first meeting between the two teams. Magixx said Spirit were taking the Brazilian side seriously after watching them produce several upsets, including ending Vitality’s winning streak in Austin and delivering strong results against Falcons and MOUZ.

“If you’re not really prepared and you are not ready to expect some things that they are doing, they might catch you easily,” magixx said. Spirit now have to reset from finally beating Vitality and prepare for a Legacy side they have never faced before.
