Karmine Corp and Team Liquid secured the final two EMEA places at VALORANT Champions Shanghai on 28 and 29 August, completing the region’s four-team lineup for the 2026 world championship. KC reached the VCT EMEA Stage 2 grand final by sweeping FUT Esports 2-0, while Liquid eliminated Fire Flux Esports by the same score in the lower bracket.

They join FUT and Team Vitality, who had already qualified through Championship Points. Karmine Corp will make their first Champions appearance, while Team Liquid have secured a fourth trip to VALORANT’s season-ending event.

Karmine Corp Sweep FUT To Reach the Grand Final

Karmine Corp entered their upper bracket final against FUT needing the win to guarantee a place in Shanghai. FUT were already qualified, but KC’s 2-0 victory sent them directly into the Stage 2 grand final and secured a Champions berth through placement.

KC controlled Lotus from the opening map, winning 13-6 behind a 25/11 performance from their Chamber player. Haven began more competitively for FUT, but Karmine Corp took over on defence, converted the bonus round, and conceded only one round during the decisive stretch before closing the map 13-8.

The result extended KC’s winning streak to four matches. More importantly, reaching the grand final removed Championship Points from the equation entirely, as both Stage 2 finalists receive direct qualification to Champions.

Team Liquid End Fire Flux’s Champions Run

Team Liquid claimed EMEA’s last available Champions place by beating Fire Flux 2-0 in the lower bracket. Both maps followed almost the same pattern, with Liquid building a 10-2 lead at half-time before Fire Flux mounted late comebacks.

Neither recovery was enough to force another map. Liquid held on to win both maps 13-10, ending Fire Flux’s Stage 2 run and guaranteeing themselves at least a top-three finish.

That placement awards Liquid five Championship Points, taking their total to 14 and making their Champions qualification secure regardless of what happens next.

Liquid’s Exact Qualification Route Is Still To Be Decided

Although Team Liquid’s Shanghai ticket is locked, the route attached to it is not yet final. Liquid face FUT Esports in the lower bracket final, with the winner advancing to play Karmine Corp in the Stage 2 grand final.

If Liquid beat FUT, they will qualify as a Stage 2 finalist. If FUT win, Liquid will instead take one of EMEA’s Championship Points places. The match therefore affects Liquid’s qualification route and the final regional seeding, but not whether either team attends Champions.

FUT And Vitality Complete EMEA’s Four-Team Lineup

FUT Esports were the first EMEA team to lock a Champions place. Their earlier 2-1 win over BBL Esports in the upper bracket semifinals guaranteed at least a top-three Stage 2 finish and enough Championship Points to qualify regardless of their remaining results.

Team Vitality secured the other points berth after BBL later lost 0-2 to Fire Flux. Vitality finished on 14 Championship Points, having entered Stage 2 with 10 and collected another four through group-stage victories.

Liquid could reach the same 14-point total, but Vitality held the head-to-head tiebreaker. With KC subsequently reaching the grand final and Liquid securing enough points through their top-three finish, EMEA’s complete Shanghai lineup is now Karmine Corp, Team Liquid, FUT Esports, and Team Vitality.

Karmine Corp Reach Champions After a Winless Stage 1

KC’s qualification completes a turnaround from a Stage 1 campaign in which they failed to win a match. They recovered in Stage 2 with only one defeat during the tournament and have now won four consecutive series heading into the grand final.

Shanghai will be Karmine Corp’s first VALORANT Champions appearance across three years in the VCT. Their only previous international VCT events were LOCK//IN in 2023 and Masters Madrid in 2024, making Champions their first global tournament in more than two years.

Only two players on the current KC roster have previously competed at Champions. The other three will arrive in Shanghai without a previous international VCT appearance, adding another first to an organisation already making its Champions debut.

VALORANT Champions Shanghai Starts On 24 September

VALORANT Champions 2026 runs from 24 September to 18 October in Shanghai. Sixteen teams, four from each VCT region, will compete for a $2.25 million USD prize pool and the world championship title.

EMEA’s representatives are now settled, but its final order is not. FUT and Team Liquid still have the lower bracket final ahead of them, with the winner advancing to face Karmine Corp for the VCT EMEA Stage 2 title before the region turns its attention to Shanghai.
