It Takes Two Switch 2 Port Leaked via Chinese Distributor for Oct 15 Release

A leaked distributor document has surfaced pointing to a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Hazelight Studios’ co-op smash It Takes Two, with an alleged release date of October 15, 2026. The listing comes from Prowell Asia Holdings, a Chinese games distributor, and was first flagged by Nintendo Everything before spreading to several other outlets, though neither Hazelight nor publisher Electronic Arts has confirmed the port.

Prowell Asia’s Slide Names an October 15 Launch

The company claims that It Takes Two is heading to the console on October 15, 2026, according to Prowell Asia Holdings, a Chinese games distributor. The port information reportedly appeared as “an informational slide from the company” rather than any official Hazelight or EA channel.

Prowell Asia describes itself as a major regional trading partner for the games industry. On its own site, the firm states it is “one of the main trading partners for games and IP products in the Greater China region,” with distribution agreements covering publishers including Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, Take-Two Interactive and Hori. That existing footprint in Nintendo hardware distribution is part of why the leak has been taken seriously by multiple Switch-focused outlets rather than dismissed outright.

Game-Key Card Packaging and a 12.1GB Footprint

According to the leaked document, the alleged Switch 2 edition would ship physically but not on a traditional cartridge. The document mentions that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of It Takes Two supports various languages, such as English, and will be available on a cartridge, though as a game-key card, with an estimated 12.1GB file size: meaning the actual game data would need to be downloaded rather than stored on the cart itself, a packaging format Nintendo has increasingly used for Switch 2 releases from third-party publishers.

If accurate, the file size and card format would put the port broadly in line with other cross-generation Switch 2 upgrades seen so far this year. If the information is accurate, the Switch 2 edition should also offer higher resolution and possibly improved performance, making it a new version of Hazelight’s co-op hit rather than just a backward-compatible release.

From a Late 2022 Switch Debut to a Possible Sequel Console

It Takes Two is no stranger to Nintendo hardware. This wouldn’t be the first time It Takes Two graced a Nintendo platform: the original version came to Switch in November 2022, more than a year after the game hit PC, PlayStation and Xbox platforms in March 2021. That original Switch port arrived after Nintendo formally announced it during a Direct presentation, a confirmation step this new Switch 2 rumour has not yet reached.

Several outlets covering the leak have stressed that the paperwork trail, while plausible, is not the same as an announcement. As one report put it, “the date and version are based on distributor paperwork rather than an official announcement from Hazelight Studios or EA”, so the October 15 date should be treated as provisional until either company weighs in.

Josef Fares’ Game of the Year Winner Still Finding New Audiences

It Takes Two remains one of the most decorated co-op games of the past decade. Directed by Josef Fares, the split-screen adventure follows a couple, Cody and May, who are magically transformed into dolls and must repair their relationship while escaping a fantastical world built from household objects. It is notably the third game from director Josef Fares, whose other releases include 2013’s Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, 2018’s A Way Out, and 2025’s Split Fiction.

The game’s trophy case is a big part of why any hardware upgrade draws attention. It had six nominations at The Game Awards, where it took home three awards: Best Multiplayer Game, Best Family Game, and Game of the Year. A Switch 2 native release, if confirmed, would give the console one of the strongest-reviewed co-op titles of the last generation running at improved resolution and performance compared with the 2022 Switch build.

For Australian and New Zealand Switch 2 owners, nothing about local pricing, ANZ storefront timing or regional availability has been detailed in the leaked document, and none of that can be confirmed until EA or Hazelight make an official statement. Given the console’s rapid uptake across the region since launch, a Switch 2 version of a genre-defining co-op title would likely be a notable addition to local shelves and eShop listings whenever, and if, it’s made official.
