GTA 6 Release Time Revealed With 18 Hour Gap Between New Zealand and US

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to begin unlocking at midnight on 19 November 2026, with New Zealand positioned as the first major region able to play. Regional timestamps attached to PlayStation Store listings point to a staggered rollout rather than one simultaneous worldwide launch.
As of 8 September, the schedule places New Zealand’s unlock at 12:00 AM NZDT on 19 November, equivalent to 11:00 AM UTC on 18 November. Rockstar Games has not separately announced the full staggered timetable, but the store listings cover 15 launch windows across 63 countries.
GTA 6 Will Unlock at Midnight Across Most Regions
The PlayStation timings indicate that GTA 6 will generally become available at midnight in each region. After New Zealand, the rollout moves through Australia, Japan and India before reaching mainland Europe, the UK and North America.
The United States is an exception to a strict local-midnight rollout. The country is expected to unlock together at midnight Eastern Time on 19 November, meaning players on the West Coast should gain access at 9:00 PM Pacific Time on 18 November rather than waiting until midnight locally.
That puts the US PlayStation unlock 18 hours behind New Zealand. The wider sequence runs across roughly 19 hours from the first regional window to the last, creating a substantial period in which gameplay and story details can circulate before every market has access.
Can You Play GTA 6 Early With the New Zealand Trick?
Xbox Series X|S players may be able to take advantage of New Zealand’s earlier window by changing their console location to New Zealand. The regional setting approach would place the console inside the first scheduled unlock window rather than waiting for the player’s usual territory.
PlayStation 5 works differently. Simply changing a PS5’s region does not move an existing PlayStation Network account into New Zealand. Playing through the New Zealand window would instead require a separate New Zealand PSN account and a compatible regional payment method, such as a New Zealand gift card, if the game needs to be purchased through that account.

For New Zealand players, no workaround is required. The country’s midnight launch is already the earliest listed GTA 6 unlock, giving local players access well before Europe and North America.

GTA 6 Preload Starts on November 12
Players who have pre-ordered GTA 6 are expected to be able to preload the game from 12 November, one week before launch. Rockstar has not yet disclosed how much storage space will be required, so the final download and installation size remains unknown.
The November release is also digital-only. GTA 6 will not ship on a playable physical disc at launch, and boxed copies will instead contain a download code. Those boxed versions are expected to begin shipping on 12 November alongside the start of preloading.

GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC version is not included in the 19 November release and currently has no announced launch date.
New Zealand Gets an 18-Hour GTA 6 Head Start on the US
The staggered schedule makes New Zealand more than just the first territory across the line. Its 12:00 AM NZDT unlock arrives 18 hours before the US PlayStation Store window at midnight Eastern Time, leaving most of a day in which footage, missions and story details could appear online before North American players gain access.
GTA 6 is expected to launch with its single-player campaign rather than a new online mode. Rockstar’s existing GTA Online will continue to operate after GTA 6 arrives, while no launch date for a GTA 6 multiplayer component has been announced.
Preloading is scheduled to begin on 12 November, but downloaded copies will remain locked until their applicable regional window opens on 19 November, beginning with New Zealand at 12:00 AM NZDT.
